Like alot of you said

Esp. with austin and patrick, their opinions are too similar for them to create an interesting topic. And there is a sort of broken record sense of 'I agree, because x and y', and someone else will chime in 'yeah, y and x is a good reason.'

They need some friction. Like, Alex, Vinny, and Jeff Bakalar tend to disagree on stuff, and because of that a discussion can be formed around that.

remember that time someone smoked near Bakalar's baby?

Bakalar can go on as many tangents as he want because you don't want to mess with him

I like Tangents. Some of the best discussions have come from Tangents(IE Dans 'Can I ask you something I ask everyone?'.)

Will Smith's The FOO Show now has a stretch goal to have Danny Baranowsky do their music (or to be their "band leader" in the metaphor of a talk show). In the update, Will included a picture the first time they met:

GOTY 2015 moment: Dan trying to get the Witcher 3 out of the top 10 on the basis that no one had finished it so clearly their 40 hours already into the game was worthless, while also egging Drew to agree on MGSV being one of the best of games of the year while he was still in the middle of playing it.

What's the over/under on people here keeping up with Waypoint? I had been listening to the podcast regularly but it doesn't really grab me for some reason I can't quite put my finger on. I think I might give it a rest.

More curious about people's opinion of the Glixel podcast myself. Seems to have no following on gaf :(

I still love you John!

No, the best moment was when Jeff asked if anyone would place Rocket League above Mario Maker, and about half the staff immediately agreed, and Jeff quickly changed the subject and pretended that little conversation never happened.

The only non-GB(jeff specifically) personality based thing I would follow is if Broken Pixels got restarted with Crispin, Seanbaby and Mangod.

like I gave up on Danny after about 2 weeks of watching his stuff.

Him quickly renaming every game remaining and leaving out Rocket League was a touch of genius.

Oh the dirty tricks. Moment 2014: When Brad snuck Destiny onto the final game cut list after many many games had already been cut and managing to get it as no 10 GOTY.

So where is the sequel to Giant Bomb's 2012 Game of the Year landing? I am, of course, referring to XCOM 2.

After all, it checks all four boxes Giant Bomb wants in a GotY candidate:
  1. Released in specified year
  2. Developed by a AAA studio
  3. Playable humans
  4. Shooting

I never really get why you guys get so into the GOTYcasts. It's like the most skippable time of the year for me because none of it matters. Sometimes the skits are fun but all it boils down to is Brad and Jeff if he's really behind something. No one else is as persistent or headstrong about their choice. Everyone else always concedes and its just nonstop dogpiles.

They didn't even play the expansion to Enemy Unknown.

In fact I don't think XCOM's even been mentioned on the site since it won GOTY.

The shooting is my favorite part of Mario Maker.

Because i love watching the things i love tear themselves apart.

I don't think similar shenanigans will happen this year, everyone seems to be in agreement on the top couple of games, maybe a push for Gears 4?

Gears 4 will make the list, Uncharted 4 wont.

Thats my not so bold prediction.

Uncharted 4 will get Bloodborne'd where Jeff will make the top 10 list by just listing random games and set it in stone. Then mention the game but by then no one will be willing to fight for it and just want to move on.

The ranking thing is a useless excercise which they admit themselves and that part of the conversation is usually not so good but looking back at the year and the games can produce some good discussions. And the list usually looks at least a little original compared to most publications'.
