the rankings itself don't matter, but it's a great time for the duders to just sit down and frankly discuss the games that came out that year

Brad paid for his stubbornness of previous years of getting his own stuff in. Also Brad's defense was 'it's not even really a game' which pretty much gave up the argument for him. Mario Maker was not only a quality game that produced content for them, but it was something that finally cashed in on some of the potential of the Wii U. But it also was one of the few ways I've seen creativity in gaming easily distributed like its appearances at the Games Done Quick and the Nintendo World Championships. It had the buzz that things like LBP and even Garry's Mod never had due to bad marketing or complexity.

Vinny's just easy to make concede. I'm also pretty sure there have been GOTYs from them before for people who didn't even like the games that won.

I think the thing that killed Brad's argument was that he was trying to get MGS5 up to #1, when he should have been pressing Jeff on Rocket League.

I hope they're planning a Goodbye, Dan stream, like they did for Vinny, before he leaves for New York. I could use a good 3 or 4 hour random game stream right now.

Also, that Whiskey Media set is great. I've become pretty familiar with it recently, because I've gone back to watch some of those old streams. Good stuff.

That would be awesome, I agree.

Yea Jeff had all guns blazing last year, pulled a lot of BS but no one called him on it so he got away with it haha. No other game had a chance last year unless people were willing to fight for it but no one really seemed willing besides Jeff. Brad sort of tried but yea.

GOTY is fun, none of it matters but I find it really enjoyable to listen to the debates haha

Same here. I often rewatch a bunch of Broken Pixel episodes.

Also agreed in terms of not caring about other stuff, I basicallyeven stopped listening to other podcasts. I pretty much only listen to both GBcasts and very rarely an 8/4 Play, which I gradually stopped listening to as I found it more annoying.

I was never a big "video" guy either, apart from the yearly Epic Name Bro Dark Souls streams (I even stopped watching him this year) and Christopher Odd's Xcom videos.

When I feel like watching something I go to GB to watch a new video lol yeah right end up on Youtube re-watching P4 Endurance run or some other past highlights.

I just finish the lastest Bombcast and Dan is weird with what he wants out of a Metal Gear or even a Kojima game in general. It reminds of some posters on GAF in some cases.

imo if kojima revealed metal gear solid 6 that looked like death stranding but in space with lazers he would say "it's perfect and i wouldn't have it any other way"

I couldn't give a damn about the top ten. And often, listening to the end of the last day can be painful. But I love all the hours leading up to it that are just the guys talking about how good (or not so good) games are this year. That can be fun.

It's the journey, not the destination. :)

So whats your opinions on Waypoint? I haven't really had the time to keep up with them since they launched but the overall take on them seems kind of negative from some of the talk I've read on here.

That's pretty much where I'm at. I just don't care to listen to them argue, either. It's unnecessarily tense.

Even Vinny has thrown a fair bit of less than subtle digs at the argumentative process on the beastcast from time to time.

I don't care for the skits, but generally the GOTY podcasts are fine by me since I travel a lot around that time of year and it's decent background noise even when a bit tense. That said I might skip around more this year since I don't have much interest or investment in the shooter darlings of 2016.

Yep. Frankly it's often times the best discussions GB has about games all year when they're focused and not talking about random bullshit and only giving 5 minutes to the big new release of the week....

The farewell show will be them playing the last two Mario Party games. It will end with Jeff repeating the bit where he looks dead eyed at Dan and tells him to get the fuck out - only this time he is serious. Dan sculks out and Jason runs in with balloons, blowing a party horn.

New video player seems shitty. I can't get anything to play for longer than a minute or two without buffering. I miss the old player.

Man that FFXV update news is something, I think I'll just continue on playing it and beat it. Then maybe watch the new "cutscenes" or w/e on youtube, or some possible replay in a few years.

I'm only on chapter 5 or so right now so no spoilers :p
