Men's Fashion |OT| Style is eternal; But my wallet isn't

the "what are the alternatives to CP" question got asked so much on r/malefashionadvice they made an image macro they just copy paste into every weekly thread asking about them

I don't really like the Achilles low if I'm being honest

for an all white sneaker my fave remains the Air Force 1 low

Air Force 1's aren't Air Force 1's without the strap in my opinion. I think the people who like the Achilles are looking for something less chunky-looking than the AF1.

I can never get any of the fancy minimalist shoes cuz they dont go up to size 13/never in stock.

edit: killshot 2...now thats a name I havent heard in a long, long time...

They usually seem to go up to 46 but they fit a size big so there should be fancy minimalist sneakers that fit for you (if you're a 47)

still doesn't compare to the killshot 2. god damn it nike.

I ain't payin a shitload to get killshots off ebay, so this was the next best thing.

j.crew and new balance collaborated to make a killshot-style shoe but it looks terrible in my opinion:

just ew. the perforated N looks weird, the gum sole is too bright, and I don't like the black parts on the back.

kinda surprised the gustin lows aren't on that image, the design difference between them and real CP's is basically no gold lettering.

So I actually ordered a pair of Adidas Superstars in all white. Is there a particular method or product I should be using to clean it? I know its inevitable but it being 100% clean makes it look very slick.

Ok, so, I'm looking at these shoes at Uniqlo:

Should I cop? It looks much better in person but I'm worried about the quality (although I'm already not expecting much in terms of quality). I may get the black one because white will probably get way too dirty especially since it's winter.

I mainly wear techwear type clothes.

Will post this in the Streetwear thread as well.

I really dislike them. It looks like they shoved a hi-top shoe inside of a lo-top shoe, and then shoved that into a ballerina shoe.

I kinda like the look of them, I think they'd look fine with techwear too.

btw I really like the Adidas Rod Laver ones on here but good luck finding them, seems they were a limited release two years ago. The regular version is ugly as sin

Depending on your price range/location the Wings+Horns Court Low might be worth looking into. The quality is comparable (some might even say better) and the price is lower. If you're in the States the price might be a lot lower, with the Canadian dollar being what it is. Owning a pair I can attest to the quality, however I haven't handled any Achilles Low so I don't have a direct comparison.

I've had the Epaulet Tennis Trainers since last year and they're really nice. Really supple (*shudder*) leather.

Just snagged a pair of Viberg Service Boots in Black Chromexcel and I'm so stoked about these things. Easily the best footwear I own.

I own a pair of Vibergs and can't wait until I finish my degree so I can afford another pair. Kind of sucks that they're listed in USD on their site, even though they're Canadian, as it makes them even more expensive right now. I live in Victoria where they're made, so I oughta stop by their physical store and see if they have more of a selection of their non-work boots footwear.

I did think that was weird - I ended up buying mine from Brooklyn Clothing in Calgary because their site does the exchange rate in real time. So I got this pair for $600 USD - $90 off.

I've seen pairs on there for as little as $470 USD brand new. If they start to carry Derby shoes (which will be my next pair) I'm gonna snag them at that price without hesitation.

If/when you're in the States, stop in a Nordstrom Rack. I see Vibergs in the ~$300 range pretty frequently.

do they at least look better in person? otherwise not sure why anyone would bother

They look much better in person. The pic doesn't really do the shoes justice, imo. The artificial lighting really takes away from it.

They have a polyester like construction. I can't speak for others but I like them because they look like shoes that would be on the Nostromo.

How's the construction? I may buy it later today

speaking of shoes that look much better in person:

the light in my room is yellow so it tints everything, but they look really nice and they fit just as well as my vans do in 10.5.

still totally buying killshots when they come back though

eh, I thought they looked just as bad in person haha. like you put one of those no-slip shoe covers on a normal sneaker. materials were interesting though

Haha yeah, I can't argue with that description. Different lighting hides it a bit better, I thought. And yeah, material is definitely interesting. Do you know if the material would make it too warm in hotter months?

If anything, I am curious about how this polyester handles stains. I spilled something brown on one of them, and was able to clean it off with just water...

I got a lot of compliments on them at work today. It is a lightweight shoe, and my experience with Uniqlos shoe construction has been excellent. They just aren't comfortable.

I just picked it up to try it out longer instead of going to the store repeated times lol.

I assume you got the white one? Apparently polyester stains are difficult to remove from a quick Google search so I got the black colour (but really did want the white one hmmm)

Hmm? I found the exact opposite on my search

Most places say cleaning it is easy...

Friends, w2c some dark suede chelsea boots that aren't too pointy at the tip or too chunky looking overall? The real challenge: does something like this exist for under $100?

edit: urban outfitters seems to have some that fits the criteria, but no black sadly. The dark brown does look good tho
