Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

It must be this

To be fair, even briefly browsing that list I can tell most of it is useless. The list isn't worth scouring.

Think about it... I don't see a Capcom villain getting in unless that series already has one of its main characters already repping it. The Capcom side is also just naturally going to skew lighter on villains compared to the Marvel side of the cast.

So I figure it has to be someone from a semi-large franchise... Street Fighter, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Darkstalkers, Resident Evil, something along those lines.

The problem with that is that we can safely assume that Vergil and Wesker would return to rep as their franchise's villains, Sigma already seems poised to rep Mega Man, and Street Fighter doesn't have any villains who would be unusually impressive... which leads us back to Darkstalkers. And it ain't Pyron, and Jedah is a long shot.

So... I guess I'm going to put my money on Raptor, logically. He's a complex to animate villain from a franchise that gets major love in MvC, he'd be a newcomer, he's fairly popular, and he's regularly used in crossovers like Peoject X Zone.

It's bizarre that a Capcom villains list isn't a thing.

Even if there was a MORE thorough list, it would probably be widening the net too much.

Look for villains of franchises that are already in, or maybe specific franchises that would deserve to get both a hero and a villain on their first entry. And villains who are pretty noteworthy within that franchise, not a one-off boss from DMC4. And someone who could come with some animation difficulties based on how they're designed.

So... idk, off the top of my head... Raptor or Jedah from Darkstalkers, any of a dozen major RE villains, Astaroth from Ghosts and Goblins if you're creative, Devilotte from Cyberbots if she has her flunkies (assuming Jin returns)... can't recall any Okami villains that could POSSIBLY be playable... I GUESS Ryce could already have seen Sigma if he's playable, but he seems to have to make assumptions aboht Sigma's form and level of involvement... think along those lines.

Even the way he's sitting on the throne in X8 looks similar to the teaser.

Now I'm wondering if his palace will be a stage in the game. Wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Alright gaf I'm off to bed I expect you to have fine tooth combed this list by sunrise :p
don't actually do that
Brb scouring the whole list
lol I did that yesterday before posting.

Ultron/Sigma is a hint that there'll be an amalgam universe where the pairs merge.

Mega Iron Man X
Ultron-σ
Ryu in Tights
Captain America (Morrigan Aensland)
I wanna see this. Everyone's favorite patriotic succubus!

So apart from having character specific dialogue for your opponent, I hope there's dialogue between teammates.

Like, say, if X and Zero are together they get a unique animation of them both beaming in.

Unique dialogue between teams would be cool.

It'd be nice if there were unique Team Hyper Combos as well. I still remember how hyped I was to see Ken do the Shinkuu Hadouken with Ryu, or Hulk and Gief do the piledriver.

We had a bit of that in 3. Of course, the only one I remember was "Avengers assemble".

Since the teams are now limited to 2, I'm hoping intro and outro animations can be more personalized for actual teams. There's nothing that Tekken Tag 2 did that Marvel Infinite shouldn't be able to attempt as well, in my opinion.

After playing SFV like hell i can totally see why most of you want Rashid as a character in MVCI. Is either him or Necalli, they both play basically like a MVC character.

If capcom want to play-up the villains in this game, they could go like:

Alastor instead of Viewtiful Joe
Bass
Sigma
Wesker
Gill?

I don't know. But those games needs more villains.

As much as I'd love Bass I can't see us getting him AND Sigma as villains (Bass is also not really a villain)

Which bass tho? He was definitely a villain in MMBN2

Think you mean BN3, though he's being manipulated by Wily over the course of the story. BN3 and MM7 are the only games Bass is really a villain every other game he's an antagonistic rival/anti hero

And look at my user name and avatar :p

If it's not Pyron then Jedah would be a welcome addition.

Wesker should return, he could work well in the story mode they are trying to do.

Really don't think you're going to see villains replacing the heroes from their games.

There's a lot of room for Capcom to have more villains and more villain diversity in Infinite than in 3... right now Wesker, Vergil, and Akuma (or another SF villain) are all safe bets, as is Sigma. Add in the popular assumption of a Darkstalkers villain and you'd have 5 villains from 5 different franchises, which is a pretty solid number to start with to me.

The Marvel side will probably pick up some of the slack for villains.

My hype for this is making me go back and play all of the Vs. series (MvC/CvS/ & TvC), and there's something to love about each and every game. Even MSHvSF, which I'd say is probably the weakest link of the entirety of the Capcom Vs. line (The SNK developed games technically aren't a part of the series, right?) is still a pretty dope fighter, all things considered.

Between playing CvS2 a bit more and impulse buying Garou when it came out on PS4, I'm finding myself digging more into SNK's catalog of fighters too, since I never really played too many of them.

Does Franziska count as a villain? I'd lose my shit if she got in.

Kind of, though really only in AA2. It'd be dope if she got in, though.
