Men's Fashion |OT| Style is eternal; But my wallet isn't

I'd wait out the trend before you throw out perfectly good clothing. A decent pair of jeans are a fashion staple, I dare say you won't be seen dead in skinnies in a year or two.

I mean if they're shit then throw them out regardless.

Too late lol

If things get bad I have some cargo shorts as backup somewhere

The skinny jeans "trend" has been going on for decades, don't hate because you can't pull them off

Question for you all. I recently discovered joggers and love the way they taper. They work great for showing off sneakers, etc. Is there any brand of jeans that does a similar taper? I have big thighs so usually any tapered jeans I get do have a smaller leg opening, but not as much as I'd like. A pair of jeans tapered just like joggers would be great.

As a side note, been a while since I was back in here. You guys helped a ton back in the day when I was single and changing my style. Not sure if I posted or not, but I got married in September. I'm sure you all's advice helped at least a little bit. Thanks all!

Probably your best bet is find some jeans that fit nicely in the top block and getting them tapered at a tailor. This can become tricky if your denim is selvedge but other wise is super simple.

Some brands sell joggers that look like you're wearing denim, maybe that can interest you (zanerobe for example)

Bonobos jeans can be had with a taper

Zanerobe makes slim pants without cuffed ankles, too. Salerno is the what they're called.

I would get BR traveler jeans since they're stretchy and then get them tapered past the knee. The stretch is important here, especially because you're large thighed.

I just got a pair of 3sixteen CT-100x's - they have a high rise, lots of room in seat and thigh, and taper down nicely.

I have a pair of these now and they are super comfortable but the leg opening is pretty wide so they only look good with boots. So does tailoring work on jeans for taper past the knee?

Thanks for all the suggestions all.

Japan Blue High Tapered, made specifically because their customers kept asking for a "lifter's cut" for large thighs but with a strong taper.

Might order a pair of these. How's the fit? I'm usually a 36 or so.

BR skinnies are hit or miss. I have a pair of black ones from last year that fit absolutely perfectly. Room for bigger thighs but super tapered for legs and they stretch. For fat thighed people like me it was a dream. However a lot of other skinnies I bought from them were way less tapered and tighter around the thighs for some reason.

I like Uniqlo's stretch skinnies. They have a good taper but they're pretty tight all around. I basically wore them around the house and loosened em up before I was ready to wear them outside lol.

Looks like there have been some threads on reddit about them, generally saying that the size chart on Japan Blue's site is spot-on. You could peruse some of those reddit posts if you wanted to see people's specific measurements and the sizes they opted for.

I guess I mean "fad", as in EVERYONE wears them (in the UK), almost like they're standard issue. I dunno, to me a fashion is a certain look that can be pigeonholed, a trend is a particularly popular fashion that is popular periodically, a fad is an oversaturated trend that becomes worn out due to becoming overfamiliar.

I'm not suggesting that no-one will wear skinny jeans in a year or so, they're a fashion staple, just that them being the "in thing" is probably a passing phase.

(In the interests of full disclosure, I probably couldn't pull them off even if I wanted to, I'm a short guy with stocky legs.)

Yes, not hard for a tailor to do.

Are those the same as the traveleres? AFAIK they're only offered in slim not skinny.

Uniqlo finally got Airism back in and was able to get a pair of their Airism Boxer Briefs. My goodness. How did I live before them?

I know a lot of people hate jeans and athletic shoes (especially running shoes) but I really want these but the most casual pants I wear while not working out/sitting at home are jeans.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V3WYNS4/?tag=neogaf0e-20

They're the cool grey/bright crimson ones if it doesn't change the color

If you really hate jeans with ath shoes can you link me to some pants that you'd wear with these?

News to me, love my UB or free run 2s with jeans look. Can wear a tee, polo, jumper, or hoodie and go to work/be at home/walk the dogs/go for date night in the same outfit roughly.

I wear my UB with my black traveler jeans all the time. But they do have a taper to them.

I don't hate jeans with sneakers but they need to be at least a slim taper if not skinny. Otherwise it looks like bell bottoms to me.

also I think when most people say they hate running shoes, they're talking about straight up runners from like Asics or New Balance

that crazy talk, asics and NB makes some of the illest retro runners ...unless you talking bout the newer design
I'm an asics runner and even I don't agree with this. Busy af designs.
I'm talking about "these are straight up shoes for running and that's all" shoes.

So I don't own any tanks, and for entirely vain reasons (I've been hitting the gym hard for several months now and have seen some nice progress) I'd like to purchase some stylish ones. What websites with inexpensive options do you guys suggest checking out? Non-gaudy minimalist graphics are fine, and I'm not a fan of really skin-tight ones. Thanks!

pro tip: don't order jeans directly from the Levi's website if you can avoid it. the shipping takes a whole week, and once you place an order, it is impossible to cancel it, even if you realize you want to cancel immediately after clicking the "order" button.

I ordered some jeans from their website because I didn't realize they were also sold on amazon and so I had to wait a week for them to be delivered instead of 2 days (I have prime).

I tried a leather biker jacket today and it just didn't work with me. Not sure if it was the mirror and angle in which I was looking at myself, or the style of the jacket not working with my outfit (basic dark tee, jeans, low top sneakers).

I couldn't pinpoint specifically what wasn't clicking.

Granted, this was at H&M (I just wanted to try it on, not to actually buy it), maybe the cut of the jacket wasn't working for me?

is ~$70 too much for a mint condition pair of GATs in my size?

not MMM gats, but regular ones.

that sounds about right, i'm assuming you're talking about bundswehr. just fyi, i don't think the quality is worth that much but you won't have much luck finding a similarly designed pair of shoes for cheaper.

What do you guys think of the J crew New balances in white vs the J crew Nike Killshot 2? Sorry on mobile or I would post pics

you can't get the killshot 2 anymore, so the j crew new balance is your only option.

a new version of the killshot 2's is coming in spring, but it's gonna be white instead of gum.

yeah, i was just looking at my options on grailed.

Ah, I thought they restocked those. NB it is then

anyone here have the greats royale? i've been looking for a clean white sneaker that isn't as bulky as the stans and these seem like a good option, especially since they're giving away 15% off coupon codes just for making an account on their website.

they look great (ba dum tss) aside from the stitched logo on the tongue, but my pants will be covering that up most of the time.

with the coupon, it's $135 for a pair, and they're full grain Italian leather with stitched soles and soft calf leather lining on the inside of the shoes.

what do you guys think?
