Since it has more RAM than Wii U shouldn't they be able to use it for AF or Texture filtering
That takes bandwidth, something Switch doesn't have to spare

The textures are like some early PS360 game.
I honestly do not understand this. If there is a setting on PC that I can turn on to max pretty reliably in every game, without losing performance, its AF. I wonder what happens on consoles. That horse's legs look kinda stumpy.
When even PS4 games (inexplicably) have suffered from a lack of AF, I really wouldn't expect that to be a given on the Switch.
at the end of the day we saw nothing to say the switch version is the definitive version
in fact i think all this gamepad segments are gonna play better on wiiu
Wait. Was this an attempt to make a case that the game doesn't have terrible graphics?
I hope not.
The game looks at home in 2006. That said, we all knew that going in. Hopefully the game itself is great.
The good thing about being a hybrid is that you can use both sides of the aisle as excuses ("but it's a handheld", "but it's a console") whenever it's more convenient.
It looks ugly....damn ugly. The environments, shadow, aliasing...everything except the character models (who look disconnected from the ugly environments). Ugly graphics period. Art style can only do so much for the character models. Thanks to the high-bitrate DF video you can see how this game properly looks.
Was this a serious post? I hope not, because it's getting ridiculous.
Actual 2006 open world game
Zelda
I don't even know why i'm answering to this.

I mean, other than the Switch version running at a higher resolution, with a far more solid framerate, sure, we saw nothing.
Did we? sry i didnt see it, the only thing i read was yesterday that the wiiu version actually run more smooth (was a german site tho), can you give me a link?

I think the game looks great, but he's not wrong.
Digital foundry say otherwise, and I am going to put my faith on the matter in them, seeing as they are specialised in the matter. Take a look at this video, at the 5.40 mark.
Where do the 20fps drops tend to happen?
I think that much like Dishonored, the textures are supposed to have painterly quality.
However, much like Dishonored, some will perceive them as just low quality

I am not sure if painterly necessarily should be equated with "low texel density" or something. These just look low res and stretch over the terrain in an unflattering manner.Yes, exactly, and thank you for providing an excellent comparison title.
Yeah but it really doesn't matter if its 2x Wii U or Xbox ONE power,Modern games are expensive as hell to make. What is most convenient is that Nintendo is maybe able to push console prices for a handheld device. When Sony and MS are pumping out $69.99 games, Nintendo will be after that money, too. But that's how the market works :/

OK, leaving aside the fact that one is an actual gameplay shot and one is a PR shot at a resolution the game will not run at, that they're comparable is kind of weak. Zelda has better art direction, of course (and Oblivion's is largely atrocious), but in how many contexts can you compare a game to an 11 year old game and expect the point to be what it is?
ratchet and clank executes on that properly
In that case, good luck with a 330 handheld.
Nintendo Switch
-720p and locked 30fps in handheld mode
-900p and 30fps when docked
-Texture filtering is poor
-Frame-rate drops typically seem to happen when there's depth of field on screen
-Lowest recorded frame-rate is 20fps.
2017 is off to a rough start. This game is supposed to show us the magic of the platform? I was all aboard the hype train but with performance like this out of the gate I'm not so sure any more.
I'll buy BOTW for Wii U and wait it out I guess for now.
Looking back at the first footage from 2014, everything felt much more saturated, more like a Miyazaki film. All of the recent footage is washed-out. That bothers me much more than the low-res textures and lumpy terrain.
I want this Zelda again:
You guys are never happy.
I feel this has been discussed before. People came to the conclusion Nintendo's capture software for that game was lacking and in reality it looks more vibrant.

I mean...that's a capture from the original trailer. If they're having problems with their capture software now that is desaturating everything, they need to fix it because it not presenting the game accurately.
But my guess is it has nothing to do with capture software, and was an artistic change.

It would of been great to see the game look this good. Everything in that trailer looked so dense and lush. The colors and stronger lighting and overall image quality really enhance the art direction.Looking back at the first footage from 2014, everything felt much more saturated, more like a Miyazaki film.
