AMAZON US Switch up

I just noticed that now in stock site said "out of stock" for Newegg, did they ever even have stock? If not, I wonder if that's a new site to watch for...

Oh FFS, the Amazon Switch page is "currently unavailable". Didn't Nintendo say that there wouldn't be ridiculous supply shortages this time?

The product isn't out yet. An anticipated tech product selling out its preorders is not a "ridiculous supply shortage."

Anyone have experience with Best Buy in-store pickup preorders versus Amazon day one release shipping for preorders? Any unreliability on either side?

Amazon was a day late on the Last Guardian collectors edition that I ordered for my sister months in advance. Since she wanted to play it on launch day after waiting for this game for so long I got her a local collectors edition with Best Buy in store pick up. Took them a while to find the thing because their inventory system had listed things from a shipment that they were still sorting. The Amazon order arrived the following night and got a hassle-free return. So, Best Buy in-store pick up wins the release day reliability test for me.

Newegg is typically late getting these things up. They didn't have any Switch listings until Sunday. I've been checking them ever since the Nintendo presentation and I don't think the console was ever available for pre-order. They listed Mass Effect Andromeda as "out of stock" up until the release date was officially announced back in early January. They don't even have BotW standard edition available.

I stopped my Amazon Prime sub because they kept fucking up my release date delivery on games for about 3 months, without ever getting the games to me on the right day (usually like 3 days after). For me, the store pickup and Best Buy shipping has been 100% consistent for about 3 years so far. Helps that I buy games so much that my store knows me. I'm in and out in less than 2 minutes with my game.

Even if you add gift card money to your order? Or just address change?

Address changes have a possibility of delaying your order or getting it dropped due to reduced shipping priority and/or lack of stock. It's not a sure thing that you'll face any issues, but you're better safe than sorry when it comes to highly sought after items that are sold out.

All in all, you should avoid editing your order unless it's crucial to do so. If you want some reassurance, contact support to make the changes and confirm whether or not it would be affected.

Adding gift card credit won't change your order's priority.

Amazon was four days late on my PS4 Pro preorder. I preordered it the minute they went up. It was completely Amazon's fault too, as they didn't even use two day shipping but regular UPS Ground. Hoping the same doesn't happen with the Switch.

Newegg is the only preorder I would take over Amazon simply because no tax.

How trustworthy are they? Sorry if that's a stupid question. Never heard of them

I've bought before from them (two 1-year PS Plus subscriptions), and I've read about other people buying from them, and no one had any problem.

Almost instantly after buying you receive a mail with a link that takes you to the page with the code.

I've only done the Best Buy thing once but it went fine. Amazon has always given me fantastic customer service and I've never not gotten what I ordered, but it's basically a coin flip if I'll get it on release day or the day after.

Not some bland one where it's just the game and the console. I meant stuff like a custom Zelda-themed Switch, or it coming with a Zelda-themed case for the Switch, maybe an artbook, etc. etc.

I mean, they'll obviously do stuff like that at some point, I suppose it's far too early to do it now, but it would've been a neat alternative to have instead of the frankly random Neon version.
Ah, gotcha. Makes sense. Yah, I'd say that kind of stuff is being saved for later when they need to refresh the appeal of the console to people who haven't jumped in yet. Companies know your early adopters and enthusiasts will be there Day 1, so they save the more enticing special edition stuff to grab new buyers later. I'll probably double dip if something like that does happen and sell my launch console.

The real question is am I going to buy neon now only to see a Splatoon bundle with neon green and orange and have immense remorse.

That's when you buy a second one ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I may go the Best Buy midnight in-store pickup route for my neon console. Will just have to wait the next day for Breath of the Wild to come in (Amazon Prime Discount), if Amazon never puts up the pro controller either, I may just pick that up in-store as well.

Two ways to read this. Amazon and Nintendo aren't on the same page in terms of Neon allocations, or Amazon is holding the Neon back to get a second boost to their traffic/pre-orders because at this point everyone is foaming at the mouth for the Neon.

Can we just get this thread locked until Amazon actually has Switches in stock again?

It's not like we lack other Switch threads at this point. ;)

Gotta disagree. This thread helped me get my Zelda preorder as well as Neon Switch preorder through GameStop. Unless there is another thread where people are actively watching product pages I hope this one stays open.

It probably wouldn't be unlocked quickly enough to alert anyone or be useful. I recommend maybe not immediately assuming this thread getting bumped means there's new stock, since, as you say, that hasn't been the case for the last ~50 bumps. I think there's still space for this as a place to discuss Amazon availability of Switch related items. Get a handle on your Switch anxiety and be patient.

We should all be relying on nowinstock.net anyway for stock notifications, not this thread :P

I mean, it's a thread to discuss preordering Switch consoles and accessories from Amazon...Which is what people are doing.

I don't think the thread is supposed to function as a stock notification service, it's not like we lack services for that at this point. ;)

I just like that this is the thread to discuss those of us who preordered from, or are waiting for preorders from Amazon, on the Switch or an item related to.

I like poking into the thread to confirm my suspicions that the Pro controller still isn't available.

Remember when we put our names on that list in this thread so we got PMed about it being up? Seems silly in retrospect; more useless than using Amazon's notification system.

If anyone is interested a group of us GAF folks have put together a Switch chat using the LINE app and made an alert chat as well. You turn notifications off for the chat group and can just come chat with us about the Switch, but leave notifications on for the alert group so you will get text message like notifications when we alert consoles, accessories and more. It has been a really fun group to chat with during the announcement and I am sure it will be great leading up to launch too.

Everyone in our group got a pre-order for everything they have wanted so far from consoles to the Master Edition. Feel free to PM me if you want an invite and if you need help setting up LINE. LINE is a chat app for iOS, Android and desktop (Windows/Mac).

Use NowinStock.net. They are good about sending alerts and can send text messages. When the Switch first went up at like 2:17 AM Central after the conference I got a text message about it. They also helped me grab Amiibos, Majora's Mask special edition, etc way back when.

They also have alerts you can set up for Switch accessories too.

I honestly wish retailers would just have a waiting list setup.

Limit it to one per customer and allow me to place an order so that whenever they become available they charge me for one and send it my way.

Did you select and pay for 2 day shipping? I don't have prime and it would have been that date if I didn't pay an extra $7.85 for 2 day shipping to get it on launch day.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, this was it. Just "switched" (no pun intended) to 2 day and now its saying march 3rd <3
