Injustice 2 - The Lines Are Redrawn

Online community/competitive play.

Because people actually play the game to play against other people, and don't want to wait over a year for that?
Onine community will still be there a year later when they release a complete version. Unless you're competing in the FGC I don't think dropping $100 or w/e makes sense rather than just waiting. Even before the complete version you know the base game will go on sale hard which would make it a better proposition. Right now it's so fragmented. I just want the whole game and not have to pay separately for every little piece.

Goddamn it Damian. Please someone give me a Drake skin and voice pack, i'd pay ludicrous amounts of money for it.

Oh, you pure and innocent soul. There is nothing but sadness awaiting you and all Drake fans.
I'm right there with you but I have lost all hope for Tim.

That's fine, but just don't be surprised when they keep dissecting the games further and further. When people accept this, these companies just say to themselves "let's see how much more they'll accept" and they'll keep siphoning until the blowback is so great they can't ignore it. I'd prefer that blowback to happen now and not X years from now when god knows what these companies will be able to convince people an acceptable standard for a $60 game is.

Unfortunately I don't think you'll ever raise enough support to actually stop this sort of practice from occuring.

I suppose it boils down to what you want to spend your money on, which is fine whatever you pick :)

No, the only community will not be the same with the complete version. There's certain to be a big drop off, especially if you're in a smaller country. And yes, I'll likely be playing this competitively so day one is pretty necessary.

If you don't care about online or competitive go ahead and wait for the complete edition. It's a smart idea. Different things for different players. I'm not exactly thrilled with the business model but I know what I'm getting and why I'm getting it.

I know Spawn beat Buffy in the Twitter poll, but I really hope she makes it in.
Liking the roster, but I wish Zatanna was returning.

The last two NR game did not feel shorted on content at launch in terms of characters. They have to cap it at some point in order to launch, and as long as it feels like a reasonable number of characters in the base content, I don't think it's a problem if they want to add more characters over time.

Darkseid looked pretty good at the end. Can anyone gif?

some of those just being alternate costumes makes me sad. Also I was hoping Starfire would make the cut this time, but now we're getting even less Teen Titans.
There is undoubtedly going to be a LOT of DLC characters for this game so there is still hope.

I am sure this game will be good, and I am interested in it. But there's so much nickel and diming going on. And you know there will be a complete version anyways. I don't get why anyone would buy this day 1 between 9 dlc characters, 3 (possibly more) variant character skins, and a pre order only character.

Because I'm going to play it day one?

If the game launches with 25 characters, and they release 9 dlc characters over a span of time, do you consider that fragmented?

These mother fuckers aren't putting Power Girl in the game AGAIN?! *Here take this skin* FUCK YOU
Supergirl is much more recognizable and relevant than Power Girl, and there is no way that both characters were ever going to be included as unique fighters.

It's not really a problem with the game feel short on content. I'm fine with a dlc plan with additional fighters. The bigger things is when you start cutting out launch day ready things to sell separately. Stuff like the character variant skins were include in the first game, now they aren't. Darkseid is ready to go...but only if you preorder (at certain locations?), and then there's the likely $30 minimum you'll be paying for the dlc characters on top of that. It feels really slimy. It looks like a great game, but will be saddled with a crappy business strategy.

The armored costumes might be the exact same as all of the other media we've seen (I didn't pay much attention before), but it looks worse to me now. That Batman image in the OP looks absolutely atrocious. Brainiac looks excellent though.

Welp, Ultimate Edition it is for me. I need those extra costumes. I imagine there will be an "Ultimate" Ultimate Edition later on with all the DLC fighters included but Warner Bros has let me down with some of their recent GotY editions (saves not being compatible with vanilla versions, more vouchers as opposed to new discs with all the content, etc). Plus MK X Komplete Edition has taken forever to have a great sale on it, so I would probably have to wait years for a good Injustice 2 Complete sale; might as well get it at launch. This is all assuming that the Ultimate Edition is physical. It certainly seems like a physical release, why release multiple different digital-only special editions? If it is digital-only, then I'll wait for a dirt-cheap price on the vanilla version.

Lost me at "preorder for Darkside"
This shit has to stop.

Also, Power Girl is DLC?
I guess I'll wait for a complete edition.

Yeah, that preorder exclusive thing is bullshit.

But Powergirl is basically a visual change for Supergirl, only with a new voice, look and dialogue. Otherwise she'll play exactly the same.

Power Girl is basically a glorified alternate costume for Supergirl. Same for Reverse Flash & John Stewart to Flash & Hal Jordan respectively.
