I've been spammed on Xbox with links and offers to buy FIFA coins etc how are Sony suppose to stop someone messaging you? You can set it to friends only problem solved.

Also, how the hell haven't they just added a block to all messages with spampsn in it? Would hurt their business model pretty quickly and force them to continually jump domains, which would make it harder to build business and make money.

I'm guessing PS3 doesn't have those options visible, though I haven't checked in a long time.

You know spam filters are a thing right? They're not science fiction. Or how about better catchas? Notice how these fucks can effortlessly generate PSN users at will for their spam service.
And friends only is a terrible solution.

That's fucking bullshit. If a player sends you a message on Xbox live even so much as lightly cursing at you and you report it, Microsoft swoops in and bans communication on that account for a week or two. Hacked account? Gone. Spam? Not a widespread issue and accounts that are reported as spam are deleted.

Someone with a Twitter account should tweet this to @yosp, see if they are even aware of the issue and are working on it.
In the meantime, we should put a PSA in the OP to get more people to switch their privacy settings. It's stupid that we need to leave it on friends only though. How are people supposed to group up with randos for destiny raids and shit?

Glad it's not just me getting spammed with messages of bogus PSN cards. I keep removing myself from any messaging groups but keep getting added back in.

You pay that for premium service which has dick all to do with messaging. That's about as dumb as getting mad about getting texts from someone you don't know when you paid for cell phone service. Learn your privacy settings and use them.
Then they should learn how to use their fucking equipment.
I'd put money on it that at least 10% of the carnival of stupid on this thread re-use passwords, will have had at least one account with their details compromised and still try and blame a third party when their shit gets stolen.
