I have to say I'm unfamiliar with the clubs depicted in this game and the hostesses' role in them. They are just there to sit pretty and drink with you?

Basically just pay for the privilege to hang out with pretty girls and have them convince you to buy overpriced drinks.

Mr. Shakedown? More like Mr. Staydown

it's hilarious how broken the whole thing is, with Kiryu in chapter 6 I went from 1 billion to 66 billion in 1 hour or so, and I'm sure you can be faster than that. you just need to lose to him once and the next time you meet him he has the amount of money you gave him before multiplied by 1.5 or something, plus his own money.
to finish the fight quickly you need the Brawler top-left drunk skill (it's quite OP, to be honest) and a decent weapon.

probably a stupid question but what am i doing wrong that everytime i push circle while fighting he kicks? it's supposed to grab someone but all he does is kick. wat?

You are using the pink style on Kiryu? You can change on the dpad.

just finished it

WOW. this is truly an epic game

the story is a masterpiece, it's on bar with MGS series, Heavy Rain and Witcher 3

my score for it is 8\10

it could have been one of the greatest games of all time

but the budget for it is low, the gameplay, graphics and animation is outdated, the world is small and very limited, most of the side quests are bad and don't have a voice acting, if it weren't for those things, it would have a been a 10\10

now THIS is a truly amazing story in a video game, a story that you are not likely to see in a generic hollywood movie, unlike The Overrated of us, which has a generic average zombie movie with a predictable story and yet you see lots of people praising it

i hope someday a Yakuza game gets a high budget so we can see it's true potential

The Yakuza games have pretty high budgets, it all goes into that facial capture. Probably the most realistic game with Japanese characters there is.

Holy shit at [cabaret management ending spoiler]
Majima's 4th style o_O That style is absolutely crazy and totally fits the Majima that we know from earlier titles.
Well done RGG team.

Can someone help me with Out Run?

It's my first time playing it, almost got 3 millions points. But I have a few question. Can I do something at the start of the run to go faster, like in Mario Kart?

I follow some suggestion in the comments about no using break and just releasing a big of gas, it's doing well.

About the path I can choose, im assuming if I want to get the ending E, it's the most easier terrain??

Rush style has no grabs, it's replaced with a block-breaking kick.

Circle is only grab for certain styles. Other styles its a defense break move.

And making you feel good about yourself.

thank you bro's! part of the problem is i started playing and then stopped for about a week to finish RE7 (since it is the shorter game) and i kind of forgot about some of the mechanics.

i am loving this game so much. i hope it is doing well for sega. i actually don't even mind that it is a little rough around the edges graphically, kind of lends to the game in a way for me. not everything needs to be uncharted 4 and some of the cutscene stylings are endearing.

this is the type of game where i would purchase a season pass sight unseen. i don't like supporting season passes and can't remember the last time i bought one but i'd make an exception to show support

Wasn't kidding when I said multiple copies. Forgot to post here before :

2 left. 1 US 1 UK which im keeping for myself sealed.
Rest have been gifted to people including one copy not pictured there.

Also still angry they did a digital only OST for this.

Woah! Mad respect, man o7

That's the beauty of it though. The game is completely packed with content (waaaay more than what you get in your average big AAA games) yet, not only it doesn't have a season pass, they are actually adding FREE DLCs to the game with each update. At the end of the day these are of course a bunch of little items our a couple of new costumes, but still in this day and age where companies release early access games for $60 and then ask you to pay $2-$5 for each extra costume *cough* SFV *cough*, Yakuza 0 is truly an incredible title.

I am having a frustrating time with Outrun, I can get 4.5-4.7 million regularly, but still haven't gotten more than 4.89 mil as my high score and I'm no where near to finishing stage three yet.

Is it just me or is the analog stick way too sensitive, making subtle turns under pressure really hard to nail? I wish there was a sensitivity option cuz I could do with a bit more dead zone honestly.

Anyhow, I think next time I sit down to play I'm gonna avoid the arcade entirely and make serious progress on the story. Between Outrun, Space Harrier and Super Hang-On, I'm still in Chapter 2!

God, it's midnight and I'm playing alone while the
Gandharia clerk
substory goes into full-blown
horror mode.. The girls voice really creeps me out
. Not cool, Sega. Not cool.

Anyways, how does a Yakuza organization chart looks like? You have a clan, and then have families in it, and then there's a general, then there's sworn brother? Is the sworn brother like the Liu Bei/Zhang Fei/Guan Yu one?

The analog is super sensitive for OutRun and Super Hang-On. For those I recommend using the D-pad.

Yeah but with the Dpad some turns + passing traffic is nearly impossible, like car in left and right most lanes while the curve is serious in stage two... Is the d-pad analog (pressure) too or on/off?

I was playing with the dpad on my best run but I keep hitting other cars, which is hella not fun.

I just finished this game last night. It was my first Yakuza game and I'm so happy I got introduced to this series. What a great story; the voice acting and presentation are superb. My only gripe would be that the lower budget held back the quality of side content presentation but the gameplay was great and oh my God at the amount of activities they packed into this game.

I was really digging Goro Majima in this, he carried himself so well. His character stole the show for me. I'm guessing his personality is very different in the other titles.

hmmmm

what the hell happened with club mercury. I was winning the whole time then all of a sudden their profits sore up and they beat me. Not to mention they had party mode like 4 times, I barely got it maybe 2-3 times. I turned off the ps4, I've been playing this cabaret thing for too long lmao.

Do fans in the area affect profits? I ask because the second club I took down I won by like 15 million. This time around I'm only barely above the hump of the cabaret battle, and I lost by 500k considering that I had more expensive costs and wages.

Should I just keep gaining fans? I've already gotten promotion from every building in the area. It seems like with the clientele here my Party mode meter is growing much much slower. The clientele isn't nearly as nice as the area of the thug dude.

There's the Tojo Clan, Omi Alliance, etc. which are organizations in which there are multiple families. The chairman in this case is from the Dojima family. If you look here, you can see how many fit into place.

Sworn brothers is a term that links two persons, say how Kiryu and Nishiki are sworn brothers to one another, it is not an actual title like Chairman, Captain, etc.

That Chapter 8 ending. Holy crap! I wanna know what happens next :(

Sworn Brothers just sounds like a weird term for best friends. But I guess in keeping up with a 'family' terminology
It's not actually the same. You can hate a guy but be a sworn brother to him, which means respecting and helping him. You'll get a much better understanding of how that oath thing works in Yakuza 5.

Anyone have experience with remote playing on the vita with this game? I don't think i'll be able to play the phoneline mini game without an R3 lol.
I know that touching the mini map will get me to the big map.

It's called professional blue balling and it's an art form!

Like son of sparda said, you can enter an oath with somebody you hate, even somebody outside your clan. It can either be enforced on you from high above or something you do yourself out when your goals align.

For example, lets say you want to kill enemy A so you enter an oath with enemy B since he hates A as well and your goals align. The oath prevents either of you from stabbing one another in the back as your strive towards that goal together...superstition/honor plays heavily into it, usually.

The dpad works for space harrier but it definitely doesn't turn sharp enough for Out Run. I basically had to get used to the extreme sensitivity of the stick, which is a shame. It definitely didn't have this problem on the 3DS version of Out Run, so it bothers me that I can't play as well. :p

At least on normal the bear hug and charging bear hug of beast style decimated him pretty well too.

You know how hard it is to not type the "but I'm an expert" post right now? You've lined it up perfectly

Wow, that 5th chapter.

Maybe you can help me since I am in Chapter 5.
I am at the part where that real estate guy and his secretary are setting up an office for me and I am supposed to wait and walk around. I have tried amusing myself with bowling, sega crane game, space harrier, and have fought several dudes on the street. Does the game tell me when I have given them sufficient time and how do I get past this.

I meant the 4th, sorry. Hahaha.

Finally got to Ch. 6 and the real estate game. So what do the symbols for the advisors mean under their Support/Ability? They look like the PlayStation buttons (triangle, circle, x), but obviously not. Also, how do you buy new properties? Or is that not under our control?

The jazz music is awesome. Having to manually come back to collect your payout every time is not, feels like some F2P game in that respect.

I'm starting to dig Beast mode more. I don't have any serious upgrades or anything, but for crowd control it's pretty great.

Have this downloading right now and am so excited to play a Yakuza again (the last one I played was 2.) This feels like the perfect pairing with RE7. CAPCOM and SEGA delivering, what year is this?

X is worst, Triangle is okay, Circle is good, and Double Circle is great.
To buy new properties you need to physically go out in front of the store and press X on the look prompt.
It's kind of a pain to buy all the properties. Easy to miss one and have to just hug the wall for 10 minutes looking for a prompt.
No map showing where they are exactly, either.

The game world has the heart of a PS2 game in it's design, but that also has its own charm and fun to it.Sub-stories aren't there to impress with it's presentation but the fun they provide. I think anyone can agree that the money but into it's story moments are genuinely impressive.

Finished it on hard last night, that final fight was way frustrating and I ended up spamming guns and sacrifice stones as I could barely touch the opponent.

Anyway, Majima's 80s costume is amazing.

Final chapter on legendary, not sure if I should complete everything within story mode and end with a bang or finish it all up in Premium adventure mode where I can have those sweet ass costumes and fuck around with people.

Damn, I had so much fun doing side missions in the game, but then I got too engrossed in the plot to do them and now I'm on chapter 17, grrrr. I didn't even spend time grinding ways to get money so my grid is pretty empty :(

I know you can do them post-game but still, I feel like I paced myself badly. Damn them for writing such a great plot!
