was just about to restart evil within on my pro but now im gonna wait till this update is out

does anybody have extra codes to share LOL

Someone test Armageddon sequence in Resogun, lol.

I know the game is getting the Pro patch, but it always irked me that the game dropped frames during that end-level scene.

That's not dropped frames, it's slowdown and it's done on purpose. According to Housemarque.

(did we have this conversation before?)

I'll try find a source if you don't believe me.

The Evil Within crashed my PS4 quite a few times and never really passed the first part of the game.

I'm downloading it again.

Well fuck. Does anyone in the NYC want to trade my 2 days old ps4 slim + some cash for a pro? I'm having the worst case of buyers remorse ever.
This is why whenever anybody asked if they should get a slim or Pro I always recommended the Pro. More power equals more options and leads to a better experience for us gamers.

This Evil Within news is great i just started playing it. Anyone know how long it normally takes to go from Beta to release with these udpates?

A console implements something PC's have done since before I was born, and people go crazy. But great news.

What kind of magic can this thing produce with a patch and BEAST mode together? Or does it become useless when a game is patched?

This seems HUGE.

Watch it be a placebo effect :p

I don't see why it would be placebo
Playing the same game at the same settings while going from a 1.8TF GPU and 1.6Ghz CPU to a 4.2TF GPU with a 2.1GHz CPU and slightly faster RAM should net you some noticeable gains (if the boost mode really takes full advantage of the Pro obviously)

Even with framerate capped games, maintaining a locked 30 instead of dropping to, for example, 25 would be great

Sony themselves said this was not going to happen! And I have a 720p set so I was like "$200 more? nah fam". Hahaha. I'm fuming.

Wow, really?
Didn't even know this was possible, considering what they did regarding the gpu.

Even if it's just for games with unstable framerate / resolution, I'm really looking forward to this!

While the Pro basically adds a 2nd GPU "core", AFAIK the code change needed to make a game use it is quite simple because there's a "load balancer" that handles that (the OG PS4 actually already have that in place, but it did nothing because there was only one "core"), so making the OS force both cores to be used shouldn't be too hard on Sony's side: I think the problem was making sure doing so wouldn't break a significant number of games.

But there's the chance all this does is enable the higher CPU clock and doesn't touch the GPU, so gains wouldn't be too dramatic.

Legit, this is great for the Pro. I own one, but have always been pretty "meh" on it (and I own a 4K HDR set) but consistent boosts to frame rate, especially for games like Witcher 3 and Just Cause 3, would be INCREDIBLE.
