PS4 firmware 4.50 add Boost Mode for PS4 Pro.

What kind of magic can this thing produce with a patch and BEAST mode together? Or does it become useless when a game is patched?

I suspect this is just unlocking the CPU and extra RAM for games that haven't been patched.

Patched games can do this and use the whole extra GPU.
There are various new hardware features that games need to be programmed to physically support in order to take advantage of the pro, so patching is the way forward.

Yes, in that case nothing will happen. This mode is simply setting an artificial "Pro enabled" flag for the system, but Pro patched games already have that flag set.

Ok, we need ps4 pro revision with big TURBO button in front. Just like the old days of pcs.

Or a good ol' FASTER button

I can almost hear DF scrambling to get a fucking beta code right now, trying to upload their first frame-counted videos of this stuff.

Go get that scoop, guys. We need proper measurements.
I expect the difference in most games to be rather minimal.

Sony should stop giving us all we want (bunch of awesome games in two months, external HDD support, boost mode), it makes the others look bad. Not cool. /s

Can't wait to see the comparisons.

Shieeet maybe I can play now FFXIV with stable 60fps even if I'm OUTSIDE of a dungeon on a PS4.

That game already had a patch, even if it's just a minor one.

This feature only applies to older games that were never patched for the Pro and only ran in basic PS4 mode.

Playing Yakuza Zero (1080p60) right now so it'll be interesting to see if it smooths over the outdoors stutters and tears.

Oh man, I need more comparisons, I can't stop thinking about it.

GTA V may have been a bad pick by me earlier, but there are definitely some games that need testing:

Killzone (resolution)
AC Unity
Broforce (saw this mentioned once above, and I want to see if there's a difference too)
EDF
Bloodborne
Battlefield 4
Battlefront Survivors of Endor map
Witcher 3
Rocket League

Has anybody tried The Last Guardian in Beast Mode yet?

TLG already has a Pro patch, and so would not be affected by Beast Mode if I'm understanding correctly.

Can add:
Tomb Raider Definitive Edition
Borderlands Handsome Jack Collection
Rocket League (splitscreen)
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
Assassin's Creed Unity
Final Fantasy XIV
Planetside 2
Oddworld New n Tasty

Any word on Soma? I remember that had some framerate trouble in certain areas.

I own Killzone SF, Tomb Raider DE, Bf4 and other games with uncapped framerates to test. I'll do once I receive my beta code.

FFXIV is not Pro enabled.

Richard Leadbetter's already booking bus/train tickets (like how they visited the first PS4 Slim leak owner to test it).
