Yakuza 0 |OT| Yes, you can start with this one!

If a hostess battle starts with the CPU just racking up money and cash from second one, before you even got a costumer in the seat, just restart, is not worth.

Seriously, is just like the dance battles, when the only way to win is to wait for the CPU to not enter cheat mode.

Miracle is an expensive advisor!

You'll really need it in the most expensive locations. But at that point, you'll have so much money that you won't care.

I wish i didn't hate brawler as much as i do.

YMMV but that wasn't my experience.

The last two battles i was getting killed straight out the gate. They both hit the max on their money meter and used their fever time at least 2 or 3 times before i could even work mine up and i beat both of them by over 15 mil

Just popped my JPN disc in for the first time in about a year. Do I need to do every heat action for 100% completion in this game?

No. You'll need to do about 40 different ones with Kiryu and 30 (or something) with Majima. It's really easy to get it.

Hmm... I don't remember. I know you had to for Yakuza 2 and 5 for sure, but I don't remember pulling off every heat move in 0 (the heat completion related targets were all "do X number of different heat moves" for sure, but I forget if there was a separate list that requires you to do all the moves).

yeah I just did the last rival battle and he started by kicking out two of my hostesses and getting a huge lead. By the end I had over 100M and he barely managed 50. Having high level girls just lets you power through everything.

I beat Mr Shakedown twice as Majima...but I only made like 15MM yen or so. How do you get him to carry billions?

So i've been trying to figure out the Essence Of Finishing Blows move for over 20 minutes now, but i can't seem to get it right. Any tips?

OFCOURSE I GET IT RIGHT AFTER I POST THIS. >->

I spent about an hour on that, did the first one easily, fluked the second, couldn't do the third. My wife picked up the controller and did it first time. [][][]^...^

Die and beat him next time, repeat. They'll stop gaining health at purple I think which is like 5 bars. I have 1.5 Trillion right now just for the hell of it since I always fight him when I see him.

Finished chapter 10. So good. It feels like i'm nearing the end with heading to
Osaka
. I just got started with Real estate, and Club Cabarets. There's gotta be more, right?

Yeah, I have those ones unlocked. Just saw the other lists after pressing Triangle.

Mainly have only the mini game completion list left.

Quick question, was the theme song different in the English release? Bubble never ceases to get me pumped.

Thinking about NG+, what does/doesn't carry over? Also do you make more money in NG+? Tired of farming cash but I wanna upgrade my fighting styles. Should I max out my skill trees before NG+?

What difficulty are you hoping to play on? You can't play the highest difficulty in NG+. Must be done from a fresh save after beating the game.

having just finshed the real estate and cabaret, there's no way I'm ever doing that again, lol. Although I did like the cabaret a lot, it's a shame the money you make from it is so insignificant compared to real estate + taking out mr shakedown. And Kiryu makes a lot more from the latter on top of that.

one playthrough is plenty for me! 60 hours in and just hit chapter 11.

That's like me and Yakuza 5 :lol.
89 hours in. Only halfway through chapter 3/5.

50 hours. On chapter 3 I think. Fighting one of the Mr. Shakedowns for a ton of cash for my 8th win against them. This game is so damn good. It's the antithesis of modern gaming today. So much content for your purchase. No nickel and diming here. Plus classic Sega Arcade games as well? As someone who's been with this series since the start here just over 10 years ago, it makes me so happy to see others discover this series and enjoy this game. It's been a long and hard road for fans here in the west, filled with doubt and uncertainties but the fact that we have gotten all the mainline games even so... Just awesome. Well worth the wait for 0.

The amount of content in this game is absolutely ridiculous, in a good way.

Thinking of canceling my Nioh preorder because I'll probably still playing this by the end of the month.

The side stuff is so much fun I actually have to force myself to continue the main story (which is excellent) every once in a while. Currently deep in the cabaret club management which is almost a full game in itself.

This is going in my GOTY list for sure. And what a great start for my first Yakuza game. I'll be getting Kiwami on day one now.

Hmmmmm... just completed the first substory that left me wanting more of the story behind it. Do we find out more - in this game or another - about the people in Substory #75, "Mystery Caller"?

That Mystery caller and Mystery girl!

The last Bacchus fight is fucking awful.
Two guys with handguns, one with a shotgun, a katana and a knife. I literally get either stunlocked to death by the katana and handguns, or one shot by the katana and shotgun.

I haven't seen Mr. Shakedown in like ten hours.
You have the best or worse luck in the world.

(Once you get the encounter finder you will be quite surprised at how many times he's right around the corner from you)

Is it just me, or are Kiryu's chapters harder than Majima's? Is he just harder to play as?

I don't care about raising the difficulty, I'm just playing on normal or whatever the default is. Finally got done with real estate after mostly idling the game for like 2 days, I really hate these kinds of real-time mechanics especially in sp games. money's not even that good compared to our friend mr Shakedown.

almost done with Majima's Cabaret Club. it's so much better than the Real Estate thing, which was already quite boring halfway through.

Before playing this, I listened to Ben (from EZA's) thoughts on how well Majima was handled in Yakuza 0 and at some point he said something along the lines of him being an enjoyable character, but one that the series didn't really know what to do with. Does this make sense to any of the Yakuza vets here? Without spoiling anything, what could that comment mean in context?

Is Majima a somewhat minor character through the series or is his importance simply haphazard? Seeing how much I like the character here, I guess I'm curious as to how he develops in the series at large.

His loot increases with each fight. You will be pulling a bill after the 7th encounter.

Also consider losing a round and your money will be returned (after defeating him) with an additional 50% bonus.

I'm so emotionally spent. There's no doubt this is gonna be one of the best games this year if not the generation. At least for me.

This makes Zero sense to anyone that has enjoyed the series since the the PS2 (Y1).

Majima is the most beloved character outside of Crazy Kaz. While unpredictable, and a little off kilter, Majima has always been (throughout the series) honourable, bad ass and incredible strategic in his dealings.

I literally cheered when he made his appearance in Yakuza 5.

once I get the encounter finder with Kyriu I'm doing this. So I can rake in billions after billions.

It's tough saying without any spoilers. I will put the tags just in case, but it shouldn't be anything big here

In Yakuza 1 he was more of a side character without any importance in the overall story. Even in Kiwami he appears more, but isn't a central character of the story.

In Yakuza 2 I remember he being more important in a lot of scenes and it's the game where they developed him much better. He's a more important character in a lot of the conflict situations.

Yakuza 3, I don't even remember if he appears. Yakuza 4 he is central to the story mostly because of Saejima (one of the playable characters).

Yakuza 5 he's important to one of the storylines, but that game has so many storylines that it felt unimportant in the overall scheme of things.

In each Yakuza game he got a little higher in the ranks until reaching the top. So where do you take a character that's already on the top ? I guess that's the question of EZA regarding the character.

While Majima has always been the wild card character of the series and a lot of fans like him, I can see why (story wise) the writers can't find exactly where to put him.

Thanks! I don't think he was disparaging the character when saying that, but simply commenting on their execution in the plot.

Thanks! It will be interesting sifting through that as I'm certainly picking up Kiwami now. I appreciate the roadmap.
