Getting reaches in nearly every round now (playing on the advanced table). The other players always pip me with insane hands.

hmm. Now I'm back to being confused lol. And you need 3 bars of heat? it only used 1 bar when used.

It's only 1 bar and you can use it any time(with Heat meter of course) when close. The thing about hitting him when his back is turned is just me giving a tip so you don't get hit by him.

I think its just timing - make sure you close enough to him to have the triangle appear!

If you really struggling on beating him I also suggest using stones and more open space. (bridge)
Also when you get knocked down make sure you press select quickly if you still have some health left and restore fully before he stomps you.

I use thug style and do 1-2 hits to build heat and then use whatever weapon I have.

Maybe I wasn't getting close enough. hmmm. I just got confused and assumed I could only do it from behind after your first comment. Having him charge and miss is how I beat him anyway so this should be easy. Still don't understand weapon durability that much.

The first few times I cheesed him as Majima I would use slugger style with the running flip hit. Have him charge, dodge and hit him with a flip. repeat. I just wanted to get the Spicy knife method down to speed things up.

I think I've been on chapter 6 for like, 20 hours. Getting most of the stuff out of the way now so I can focus on the hostess game (and then the plot) at a later date. Just a few more buildings and one more chat line substory, then I think I'm done. Not even going to bother with the JCC, or whatever it's called. I played it once, it was terrible, I'm not going to bother with the plat on this game.

Just beat the game and yeah game delivered on the story. Since I played previous games I knew where the story had to go but more eager for kiwami now. A lot of characters have more characterisation which will make the games story have a better impact. Majima was the MVP of yakuza 0 however.

I did it. I ordered this game. I've meant to buy Yakuza games for years, but the story intimidated me and I always head off buy used. For some reason I keep expecting HD remasters/remakes.

Whatever, the game will arrive Friday and I'm excited.
Congrats man. I'm excited for you!

I really wish the sales of Yakuza 0 gives them incentive to remaster the rest of the series. I haven't touched any one of them.

Luckily the series sells really well in Japan. There's no way they'd remaster them just based on Western sales.

I'm wrapping up all the mini games tonight so I expect to start Legendary mode by Friday for the Platinum.

Need to somehow knock out the Mahjong and Batting Centre mini games, then get all the items/weapons. About time, I've had the game since the Japanese release :p

I'm at an odd place with this game.
On one hand I want to become a billionaire and romp through the final part of the game as OP as possible, but I know if I continue with the real estate and pimp side quests, I will get burned out and not have motivation to finish the story. And I'm not one to continue games after I've dropped them.

How hard are the final chapters? Would I be ok with only the 100,000,000 yen upgrades?

I beat it way before reaching those upgrades and im not even very good at the game.

No seriously... how do you beat Mika-chan? Her car gets super speed in the last three laps.

From my memory it was something like: Super Soft Tyres, Balance Frame Plus, Hi Torque V2.0, Gears i forget, High Cap Battery.

I race on the track to find a time to beat then i tend to spend time in the Test Track tweaking the setup until i'm close and then race again. If i win then i take the challenge. I have never needed to use boost to win a race so far. I'm on the last few races now and need to progress the story as parts get expensive quick!

I spent a few hours only doing races, substories and challenges and after a while you do get an idea of needs tweaking on the car and when a component is holding you back. Soft Tyre upgrades are the first i go for if i can afford them :)

You can buy parts in Don Quixote and there's a substory that gives you early access to some nice parts also.

Keep in mind that you only need a see 70 items and 100 weapons. Nearly all item can be achieved through searching/expeditions. I had to craft about 10 weapons to get to 100 (post expeditions).

Not looking forward to the batting cage. 😓

You should have no issue at all. I think I maybe had one 100k upgrade by the time I got to the end of the main story and I did not find the final bits that hard at. Just make sure you go to Don Quijote and fill any blank space in your inventory with staminan xx.

Unlocked the 4th style.

Absolutely loving it, this is one of the reasons why Kiryu has always been my favourite protagonist in the series, he just rips through people like a knife through butter.

SO FUUUUUUUUN!

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Nishiki is the real star of Kiryu's story. Just finished Chapter 6 and that cutscene was something else.

I feel like it should have been him instead of playable Kiryu lol.

That works too. Also as many people suggested here you can also hold R1 for easier dodge :)

Personally I find Spicy Knife not very effective especially when he has 3-4 health layers. Katana or double sticks are more effective.

Ok, finished chapter 1 today. The story so far is great.

I definitely like the Rush fighting style better than the basic (starting) one. But I'll work on all of them to get the CP for them.

That is something I should start working more on. I have basically gone from location to location so far in regards to the story, haven't really done anything on the side as of yet. Although haven't picked up any substories as of yet. Is it something that starts up during the story missions? Or do you need to speak to someone to start them up?

I just did the intro part of chapter 2, so I think I'm going to meander away from the main story for a bit and try to do some of the side stuff.

But really enjoying the game so far!

The sidequests and the whole game in general really open up starting with chapter 2, so that'd be right about now for you. Just explore and you'll trigger some!

Sidestories begin opening up once you're a little ways into the main story. They'll naturally pop up as you wander around town, so you shouldn't have to go to much trouble to start running into them once they're available.

The "big" sidestory content, real estate for Kiryu and cabaret club for Majima, is initiated as part of the main story.

Man I'm so terrible at the dancing mini game, it's such a smal window to hit when the squares are lined up and I either do it too early or miss it entirely.

The worst thing about Yakuza minigames is that I'm fine with the speed, I'm "decent to pretty good" and like mid higher level rhythm games and the two things that get me in Yakuza is #1 Specifically for the Disco Minigame, the indicators are not distinct enough and especially get hard to see under high speed climax moments, #2 is that while a song changes speeds, lets say in karaoke, the speed of the notes is not consistent visually on the screen, so you'd have one full karaoke line of like a easy slow speed, and then without any warning the next line will be 3x the speed, when in beatmani or ddr or something there are just more notes half notes, 16th notes or whatever but they're always consistent speed scrolling down the screen unlike in Yakuza where any bar can be a different bpm

Finished it and that was really excellent. Not going to really post any indept thoughts or anything, but I'm completely onbroard the Yakuza hype train for as long as they keep making them.

Anyway seen a few others post theirs so here's my end game stats.

Play Time: 102 hours and 42 minutes.
Completion: 87%
Money Earned: 6.45 Trillion.

Beat the story two days back, all I gotta say is:

Gawddamn.

Kiryus ending was a decent setup to 1 with Nishiki even questioning his reasoning for going back to the group that tried to screw with him. Also gave Nishiki the ground work for his developments in the time between now and 1. His plea with Kiryu not to go down the route was tragic too given what happens.....:'(

The ending with Majima walked into the crowd away from Makoto for the last time was also some sad shit man. Shed a single tear from that. Mijama deciding that theres no place for him in normal society and just walking away from it was.....just damn. Well done ending for Majimas story

The "Yo....KIRYU-CHAN" was some funny shit. Was this Majamas true breaking point or the beginning idk but it was something lol

And with that said time for sidequest fukkery, already doing the caberet quest and got Ai and Saki, starting on getting Chika thanks to buying some club venus locations. Any tips for that Club Fight?

Could someone give me a rundown on what is said during the cutscene where Kiryu is talking to the
guy who likes bowling who got beat up about the Five Billionaires?
I was really tired last night while playing and I dozed off during it.

Basically he used to be pretty big in real estate but now the five billionaires have come, are taking over most of the places and are playing dirty to get those places (and he's refusing to do so). He's also the only left in their way so they're hard on him and he's getting tired of it so he's thinking about giving up real estate altogether, I think. Then he decides you should manage it because you can handle their dirty tricks and other various reasons. It's been a while so I'm not 100% on it all but that's mostly the gist of it I think. It'll develop over some time by progressing with real estate so you'll learn more about it all.

Try listening to the rythm of the music, that is the timing. I sucked balls at it when I focused on the visual cue alone.

It's so weird to me that in a game that's full of fun mini games, they thought the real estate stuff was good enough to make the cut.

The Leisure district was just okay on its own and things should have stopped there. But to have to do this four more times, with each district taking longer to control because of the increase in investment and property cost ? Fuck that.

The only reason I'm going through this is because for some reason Mr Shakedown has no money everytime I come across the guy (is this a bug ?). But man, what a chore. I was having a perfectly good time with the game before this.

It takes time for Shakedown to get more cash, don't feel like you have to fight him every time. If you want to "cheat" and get more money from him, upgrade Kiryu (this only works for him) at the shrine to get more money from fights AND from heat moves. Then meet Shakedown and purposely lose to him. Do that 3-4 times so that he has lots of your money. Now go into the next fight against him with plenty of health/heat drinks and spam heat moves against him and then beat him. This gives you all the money back you'd lost and then a nice chunk more.
I usually use this method while waiting for the my money from the real estate mini game to become available. So I then get a ton of money from Shakedown and then a ton more from the Real Estate mini game.

If you haven't already, you can use your CP at the shrine to reduce the waiting time for your collections.

Dude gave you a gun in the cutscenes and MC was shocked at the sight of a gun when he had 3 of them in the inventory, including a fucking cannon... Yeah.

My first Yakuza game. Fantastic!

Story is fun. Fighting is fun. All the characters are great.

I thought the English subtitles with Japanese voice acting would bother me, but I don't think it would be as good any other way.

and these dumb mini games I heard so much about and assumed I wouldn't like? Can't get enough of them. So much fun.

Thanks for another great recommendation GAF!

Oh, that was my problem then. Thanks.

Already did, I got all the upgrades.

I'm at a point in the story where I have pretty much nothing left to do in Kamurocho, which doesn't help.

Still, there's no arguing that it's a pretty boring side quest, especially compared to the cabaret club management which I can't get enough of. It's part of the reason why I prefer Majima to Kiryu.

I legitimately forgot about the watch until it started playing. That was some heartbreaking stuff since, again, Makoto never got his name after this whole time.

Yep
The scene with the doc was good too. Dude leveled up to dad states for a good minute. He just wanted to take cation for Makotos safety before moving on bruhs :')

The Ara Q3 (lol, is that a DQIII shoutout?) sidequest went from hilarious to heartwarming real quick.

This series is amazing.

The sidequest gets from silly-to-feely real quick. Early sidequest spoiler
The one where you impersonate a tv producer started out with hijinks and wacky music but ends with the director waxing a soliloquy about how TV can change a persons dreams and motives and how a small screen can give hope to millions. The background music don't help in hiding the feels
