Pick Up Select PS4 Bundles for $249 This Month in the US (from Feb 12 to Feb 25)

I doubt they bundle Horizon upon release.

That being said Sony probably figured they need to move those CoD bundles before the hype for the next entry comes.

Uncharted Bundle easier to have hang around.

Testing the waters for a permanent drop later this year when Scorpio's price is announced. I wonder if they'll drop the Pro's price to $300 by this time next year, I'm planning to pick one up but it'd be nice to pick one for a cheaper price :p $350 most likely, I guess.

Yea I can see this. Plus this fall I'm sure Sony will have a lot of bundle options. Get these bundles pushed through. They'll be damn close to their 60 million.

Man, they're really focused on getting the price of this thing down, aren't they? I mean, we're just at the start of Year 4 really. What was the going price for a PS3 in 2010?
$300, that's when I got my PS3 slim and a nice lady from Walmart found a Black Friday bundle for me, I was in the US at the time but didn't make it in time for Black Friday, so I was glad I could get the Arkham Asylum + Infamous + TDK Blu-ray bundle.

This is exactly why the Switch is NOT remaining at that $299 price point come Holiday time.
Yeah, which is also why I'm most likely picking up a Switch during the holidays next year, I'm sure there'll be a lot more interesting games for me by then. I need to pick up a 3DS this year to play Pokémon and some other titles.

Microsoft and Sony can keep up. This promo from Sony is essentially a shot across Nintendo's bow. Bundles and price cuts are both viable options to counter any price adjustment from Nintendo in Q4.

So they shipped so much last quarter they are trying to clear out stock to hit there projections?
Well they sold a lot last quarter, so this is probably to lessen the impact of Switch's launch and, as someone stated above, to start clearing CoD stock before the hype cycle for the next installment begins.

I think we are seeing a similar strategy to what MS has employed in the past here.

"Temporary" drop at the beginning of the year then an official drop a month or so later as consumers have gotten used to the lower entry point.

Official $250 price point inbound imo (which could be very big).

That is unless they chained themselves because of expensive controller technology once again.

If that happens it's wrap for them. There's no way that they can be this stupid with pricing. I refuse to believe. They won't get away with pulling Wii U like pricing strategies.

I was dead set on getting a Pro when I used to weigh the benefits of it, but I've come around to the idea of copping the less expensive Slim for now. I had been waiting for an upgraded PS4 partway through this gen (I own the other consoles) and felt vindicated on holding out when news of Neo leaked, but it's turned out to benefit 4k users mostly and I'm not getting a 4k HDR set any time soon (as much as I'd like to). The recent Boost Mode development is something I'd like to apply to old exclusives not getting a Pro patch, and I like the hypothetical of future-proofing if late gen exclusives like Death Stranding miss 1080p /w decent fps on the non-Pro PS4s, but I'll just swallow my pride on that and get to the games I've been missing now instead of vacillating until this gen has passed. Also, a quieter console has also become crucial to me as someone sensitive to background noise. I just wish there was a digital UC4 bundle option, since I dislike physical and don't look forward to selling UC4 (which I want digital) or CoD for pennies.

Anyway, I noticed that the upcoming weekly retailer ads were showing this price (not that it's an unordinary price atm, it's $259 at Amazon rn). I hope that these retailers get competitive on top of it.

Jet.com has 15% off codes for new customers.

So $249 + 15% would get you closer to $200.

Great price, but i was hoping for more interesting bundles

They gotta clear their old stock first before introducing yet another bundle.

Sony will drop a new bundle once they clear out the current bundles especially CoD since it has a shelf life of 1 year.

Yup. Slim will be $200 with a game during the fall and I'd suspect the Pro will either be $350 or $300.

Right! Good looks. I haven't shopped with them yet, so I'll consider that.

I'm going to wait and see for a minute come next week what these retailers do, and I have a substantial Amazon credit and perks with them I'd like to take advantage of if they put up a slick deal, but Jet seems like a good option atm.

Boost mode, AC WiFi, and 1080P remote play are the things that pushed me over.

With tax I'm looking at a net $250 upgrade, which is probably fucking stupid for me. But it's either I trade in my PS4 for $175 now and get the PS4 Pro for $250 (price with tax included). Or wait until November and get a $299 PS4 Pro bundle with 1 game (or multiple games).

If I was to wait, I'm assuming that would get $100 max for my original PS4 through trade in. So it's paying $250 net now vs waiting 9 months to pay $200 net.

Yup. Slim will be $200 with a game during the fall and I'd suspect the Pro will either be $350 or $300.

If you were checking slickdeals last black friday / holiday's, there were plenty of PS4 Pro deals pushing around that $340-$360 mark. I know that it got as low as $320 at some places. $299 for the stand alone console or as a bundle is guaranteed for the PS4 Pro at a lot of retailers. I think Sony will try to set MSRP $350 and retailers will mark it further.

That's a possibility, but this is only a two week deal. Imo if they were clearing stock like that this would be an indefinite price drop. A Horizon bundle could be here sooner than I thought.

Tempted to jump on this deal.. but at the same time.. meh. I'm really trying not to buy into anymore hardware until PS5/Xbox Scorio 2

It looks like we're back to pre-season again.

I can't see the PS4 losing another month in NA until the launch of Xbox One Scorpio.

That is the same thing that was holding me back until I figured I wouldn't be buying the PS5 day 1 anyway. I like to wait at least a year to buy into new generations. So, assuming PS5 comes out 2019, that is somewhere around 2020/2021 when I get PS5. 4-5 years with Pro advancements seems cool to me.

I'm looking forward to buying a PS4 this fall and your line of thinking on Pro vs Slim matches mine almost exactly. I like the performance enhancements and future-proofing of the Pro, but I like the price (I'm anticipating a $199 bundle on Black Friday) and noise-level of the Slim. I keep going back and forth on which one I will ultimately buy.

I expected this kind of promotion when Sony announced their fiscal results last week.
They basically need to offset in Q1 in the US what was not sold in Q4 relatively to their projections to meet their annual forecast. In Europe and Japan no need for that.
I also expect an other promotion at some point in March with Horizon.
About the Pro making a bundle with Horizon is obviously a great idea but if they can't increase production it would be useless.
Thinking about 2017 in general 249$ and 349$ will become the official RRP of Slim and Pro and that means that with the usual holiday season promotions a 199$ Slim and a 299$ Pro might be a reality this November and December.

This basically.

We'll probably see more of these deals between Sony and Microsoft once Switch launches. Makes incredible value at $250 with a game or two bundled in.
