He's the President. He doesn't believe he should be beholden to the truth. He does believe his intelligence agencies should swear fealty to him and that the rogue elements that are leaking the truth to the media must be eliminated so he can have a "great" country like his idol Putin.

What if the IC were leaking unsubstantiated claims about Obama in 2009? Question has to be asked, the media so far have generally accepted these leaks and ran with them, but what's to stop it happening unjustifiablly against a future POTUS that we approve of?

Edit: To the poster above me, if you can't tell the difference between this POTUS and the previous ones, you need some help. Trump clearly has ties to Putin. I would hope any elected official acting in the best interests of our enemies would be called out.

Obama would have handled it appropriately and it would have gone away. If he was secretly a Russian spy it would also be good that they brought it up.

I really don't want Trump, Bannon, Rex etc. even Pence to bow out quietly. They are all connected and in the loop. Bring the fire, out his tax returns, the Russia connections, put them in court. There can't be one left standing. Make it so clear that the GOP, Republicans, Administration are bad, hang them out to dry for all to see. Even if it leads to Ryan being President, I'm fine with that, weasel needs to step up and get some limelight instead of hiding in the shadows, he needs to be seen as the leader of shit polices that ruin peoples lives.

Leaks are real.
They're being released illegitimately to fuel conspiracy theories put forward by the "fake news" media at MSNBC, CNN, New York Time and Washington Post.
That's my interpretation of Trump's tweetspeak.

But the FBI did to get him elected. As did Russia.

When are the GOP going to grow a spine and put country over party? Saw one of them on TV this morning saying that this is a matter that they will seriously investigate and that Russia should be punished if it's true. Not once did I hear "and we need to impeach the President and remove his cabinet and hires as well if this is true."

But these are not unsubstantiated. There are literal records of extensive phone calls to Russian intelligence agents. That's all the IC has commmented on, not the nature of the calls.

They are not unsubstantiated, they are just not fully detailed right now.

He had every reason to believe Hillary would win anyway, and bringing it up would make it seem like he was trying to unfairly influence the election. It's a lose-lose.

I'd rather blame the traitor in the White House now.

Even the Democrats aren't saying that at this juncture. You've got a LONG way to go if you want that outcome.

It's a double edged sword. If he acted it could have damaged our democracy just as much if not more than Trump. There is no precedent for stopping an elected (even illegitimately) president from taking office. There is precedent and procedure for removing a treasonous official from office. Obama took a gamble that the intelligence community would do what it's doing now and Trump would implode.

He probably didnt act on it because there was no concrete proof. Everything was probably just based on intel at that point and it still being a fairly new investigation.

Takes time to properly fact check and ensuring that the intel is as solid as it gets.

This thought has to assume that we have a president engaging in highly illegal or least dangerous behavior with a fascist state to get elected.

This also assumes that another hypothetical president is also another moron who can't work with anyone and has caused the entire government apparatus to rebel against them from every department.

So... It's not even worth considering because the only reason it's happening it's because of ineptitude and dangerous dealings with a foreign power
