Where is the counter that tells me how many times I've dropped?

Also can someone explain this trophy to me:

Ability Ace
Max out and install all Support and Spirits abilities.

Lots of spirits repeat abilities, so do I need to learn every ability for every spirit or do I just need to learn all the abilities in the abilities menu? This is kind of confusing.

Upper left of Start Menu has the number of drops total.

It means to learn all of the perm abilities (red and purple spheres). You only need to install the appropriate amount of abilities, learning more than the max you can install changes nothing. However, you won't be able to get the trophy on anything other than Proud or Critical because those difficulties give you Exp Zero, which counts toward the trophy.

Finished the Proud Mode playthrough of Dream Drop Distance, it’s a shame the Critical Mode wasn’t unlocked from the start cause the thought of replaying isn’t too enticing.

Still don’t like the deck command and glad it won’t be in KH3. The Dream Eaters shouldn’t have those abilities tied to them and it’s unfortunate they themselves are in the game as well. Remember Nomura saying something about them being in KH3 but hopefully it’s kept to a Chirithy minimum. Don’t really enjoy playing as Riku which made the drop system that much more annoying, seems like KH3 will have Sora in the front seat again though so that will be nice, still expecting to play as others here and there though. Flowmotion remained fun to use in general but the attacks got repetitive quick.

I know people go over the top about how hard it is to get the story and what not but honestly haven’t found it confusing at all to follow. Until this one, I remember when I first watched the scenes and saw how much foolishness was in it. With the fresh take, I dislike it even more somehow, this story does favors for no one. And the exam itself makes no sense compared to BBS balls of light. Still my favorite series and all that but this little title contained some awfulness all around that set some big changes in motion.

Luckily 0.2 exist, continuously washing this taste out. Not sure if I’m going to do the Critical Mode cause there’s not much reason to. This didn’t really have many memorable moments, the bosses aren’t great, and these segmented world’s stories aren’t great either (another reason I need another main Sora journey). However, still a couple of stuff I want to do on my current playthrough.

Well, the point of the exam was for them to learn how to unlock sleeping hearts considering that's what they're going to be doing in the next game. Aqua and Terra got the easy mode version because they were living in peaceful times where an obsessed old man wasn't actively trying to destroy the world yet.

I've always suspected that for KH3 we would get to play as Sora, Riku and Kairi, just as a parallel to Terra, Aqua and ventus. I feel it makes sense. I mean kairi is training to use her keyblade properly with Merlin, so she's gonna get to do something useful. If she's not playable then she'll definitely be a party member at some point.

That is true, different times. I get they need the ability, everything about the Mark of Mastery and the title just really bugs me.

Sora's boss fight in the second visit of Traverse Town is probably the worst encounter in the game. I'm cool with everything else but doing that fight in that painfully small arena on Critical Mode was a nightmare.

Sora literally chopping buildings into pieces, saving the universe twice, and just generally doing all the cool shit we've done with him and still not being a "Master" makes me irrationally upset LOL. Especially because gameplay wise we've seen he's capable of just as much if not more than Aqua or even Riku by the end of II.

Felt like they nerfed him to me. Idk why, I just get that vibe. Something about him has felt off lately. 🤷

Also
Sora = Roxas > Aqua (JP voice) > Riku > Aqua (NA voice)

Lol exactly, all the stuff he accomplished he's pretty much on level or above them and that's still not good enough because it's self taught? Man get that out of here.
Then he did reach the end, it just got taken over which Yen Sid didn't even take responsibility for the security flaw. And after all that he somehow gets it back at the Olympus Coliseum lol.

Sora and Aqua are my favorites. I don't really like Roxas (don't even have great reasons) and don't like Terra either.

The checkpoint system in DDD is the same god-awful shit it is on 0.2. Who needs these huge areas where you can get killed at any time are go back to the start?

They should seriously stop designing Kingdom Hearts games like we're in 2002.

I like to think Sora is very powerful but lacks the emotional qualities of a master and that's why he fails, because he's a blockhead.

The problem kinda is that in end-game KH2 he seemed to be more or less emotionally qualified for the title too. It's only later games that have completely ret-conned him to being idiot, even if KH2 had dumb writing.

Plus the reason
Sora fails the test
is utter bullshit anyway. Yen Sid is a total troll. I mean, there was basically nothing he could have done, at least that's what they make it seem. Riku doesn't even have to deal with the same situation lol.

Still, he
didn't accomplish the task
and so
failed the test
. It's like if someone
ate your test when you were about to hand it in, yeah it sucks and yeah it wasn't your fault but now you've not handed in the test so you fail
. You deserve a
re-do though
which is kind of what
Sora gets (or is trying to get anyway)

I could've sworn I read that Sora in KH3
is already a master at the start of the game
, so the results of the test in DDD don't matter much anymore.

More like Riku gets spammed by bosses in KH DDD and the writer was like, "Too impressive to ignore. Riku gotta be a master by now." Throw in overcoming darkness for feels.

In other words...

Sora will get spammed by bosses in KH3 too.

Sora being an utter failure was the only acceptable outcome. While Riku is both smart and badass, Sora is the complete opposite.

I'm sorry Yen Sid has high standards for Keyblade masters.

You gotta be joking. Riku was such a emotional trainwreck for most of the series. 2.8 Riku is best Riku though. That small scene he had was awesome because he had growth.

Sora on the other hand.... lol he's a consistent Goku and Naruto hybrid. He just gotta unlock Super Saiyan 2 or Sage Mode for KH3.

In a perfect timeline, KH3 starts by Sora waking up in Destiny Islands after KH2, stating that he just had the weirdest dream, retconning 3D out of existence. And Yen Sid gets disposed pretty quickly in the game and his world destroyed so that we never have to spend another single cutscene in his dusty studio again.

Can we also add that digital clone Sora and all of Coded to the retcon list?

I think 0.2 would be pretty drastically improved if completing each challenge also unlocked a passive ability for you, even if this meant making Aqua less powerful when you start the game off (ie making you earn second chance, once more, and leaf bracer instead of giving them to you from the start). I give zero shits about costumes and refuse to stick angel wings on Aqua's excellent character design, but I miss the RPG half of the ARPG formula in 0.2 pretty badly even if the core combat is a big improvement. Being able to run around and complete challenges to unlock stuff like Fire Boost/Fire Screen would be amazing, and locking super-great passive like Finisher Plus/MP Hastega behind completing the boss rush or beating critical mode would also be great incentive to do more.

I liked Roxas a lot in II, bit less in 358/2. He felt like a more introspective and emotional Sora. Sucked that the intro itself was slow but I thought Roxas was a cool guy.

Aqua just talks a lot. BBS cast really didn't do it for me honestly.

Would pay top dollar for this.

The most I've ever been positively interested in Roxas had to be the BHK days when there was this whole mystery about him. Then KH2 came along with that prologue that just left a bad taste that kinda stuck around. That "Summer Vacation" scene is one of my favorites but not for the usual reason. Wasn't that interested in Days because of him but ended up liking Xion. Overall though considered both of them roadblocks that needed to go.

Lol true but I really like her character and enjoy her story, looking forward to her getting a happy end. Playing as her was fun too (BBS bs gameplay choices aside). Ventus was straight, his "reunion" with Sora should make for a good scene. Terra though, that boy trash, only good thing is his Lingering Will.

Gave up on the DDD platinum. It's just too much grinding and the issue is that most of it is not fun. :( I'll watch the secret ending and be done with it.

KH3 with flowmotion is going to be fun!

Oh yeah, cannot wait for Sora to wall-jump his way to every high platform - like that roof - without the need of actual platforming or any of the abilities that would normally be required to reach them (high jump, glide, etc.). :/

I like Flowmotion, but it was way too OP in DDD and those gifs show the very same wallkick-jump combo that made all of the platforming completely skippable in that game. Remember that part where you have to ride a bubble using reality shift to be able to reach a far-off treasure chest? Or the platforming segment in the bell tower of La Cité des Cloches? Probably not, because everyone just wall-jumped their way through. If not for that one move, DDD could have had pretty awesome platforming parts. So seeing that the move is still in KH3 is incredibly disappointing.

I guess I would be okay with it if you only got that specific move at the very end of the game - but I don't trust the Osaka team to actually create a balanced game.

While I wouldn't have minded if they removed it, they really need to make it that you can't do a wall jump again until after you've touch the ground. It is way too OP in DDD.
