Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

Just watched part of the CNET kickstand video, what a ridiculous video and complaint that is "bash your Switch around and man handle and manipulate it in tabletop mode in ways you won't normally do and it will fall over"

They really just wanted Switch and fail in their title. Doesn't make any sense otherwise.

Went to Nintendo Switch event tonight. Will edit short video later. For now, some thoughts:

  • When attached to the system itself it feels a bit flimsy, sadly (it wobbles a little on the rail).

I checked this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPtPIpXwpvs

It's a bad video, I disliked it, but you can see that it seems to be just fine. Maybe it was your device or the surface?

Well it's not perfect but looks good enough
I was not talking about the kickstand, but the joycons themselves attached to the Switch. On every unit I tried (multiple booths) they were not very sturdy against the unit. Not sure what a good analogy would be.

The kickstand did fall off one of the Switch devices they had out for display though, when we went to go look at the it to see the different parts without needing to play anything.

Sorry if this has been adressed, but any news about the joy-con desync issue lately ? I haven't been able to follow gaf as much as I'd have liked to on last few days.

Idk where else to put this

Trying to add fund to the eshop before next week and I just wanted to express that their online eshop is okay, aside from the fucking fact that you cannot add eshop credit without an actual console. Oh and before you say "eloquent, here's the link to redeem your code" please note that the site you are actually linking me is ONLY for fucking game downloadable codes. They have no portal to add funds via gift cards to your account. The only way I could see if there's an option is if your wallet is empty and at checkout they offer to let you redeem your code but I can't do that now since I already loaded all the money via my 3DS. It's stupid and clunky and archaic. Fix it before Friday Nintendo.

Have you tried:

https://eshop.nintendo.net/redeem#/

?

It might be for game download codes only, but I'm not sure....

EDIT: reading your post again, this might be the link that you've already tried? If so, sorry!

While I feel good about leaving a downvote, I feel just as bad for giving them a view.

Downvotes help a video exactly as much as upvotes. YouTube's system treats them the same, both count as "increased engagement" with the video and increase the video's ranking and chances of being viewed by more people.

Best not to down vote or comment if you don't want to help a video.

It doesn't seem so. Really annoying; I figured it'd be a lock in, especially given how useful it would be to dock the system with HDMI-CEC.

Even though the Wii U didn't work with HDMI-CEC, I suppose that with Switch, they expect you to keep it in sleep mode more often than completely powering off the system. In that case, you'll be waking it from sleep mode like a handheld more than powering it on and off like a console, though maybe waking up a device would still work with HDMI-CEC? I don't know.

I realize that I have no idea or solution for where to put the toaster dock. It'll inevitably end up being in front of my TV screen. Sigh.

Is this just a result of the manufacturing process, or a coating to deter kids from swallowing the game cards?

What? Of course waking up a device works with HDMI-CEC; the PS4 supports this very functionality. It just sounds like Nintendo doesn't support this feature at all, which is a real shame.

What? No HDMI-CEC support? Hopefully a firmware update away, but ... boy it sucks...

Buying two Switch consoles.

Is it possible to remove the Zelda cartridge, from the first Switch console and continue playing on my second console on the same account?

I think as far as we know, savegames are stored on console, not on the card. Maybe it can be imported via nintendo account, but at least I haven't heard that yet.

Save file is on the system. So, you can't do what you are trying to do. We don't know yet if you can transfer the save file on the micro sd.

Probably not yet. Nintendo likely has a cloud storage solution for some point in the future.

Ah damn :( Hoped Nintendo had this covered....hope they implement this in the future.

Has anyone been able to test whether or not you can download an eShop game on two different consoles yet? I'd love to have confirmation that it works without having to contact Nintendo.

I keep my PS4 in perma rest mode and it works just like that; turns stuff on when waken out of rest mode. So definitely possible.

HDMI-CEC would be great for the Switch because it would make the seamless transition to the TV even better. Drop it in the dock while turned on, and have the TV turn on and switch source automatically.

Yeah. I think it must be one of those things that the engineers within Nintendo just genuinely don't know about, as there's no reason to not support it. It doesn't require licensing fees (which is usually why they don't support standards), and it doesn't hurt compatibility with TVs that don't have the feature.

The PS4 sends the "switch input" signal even when turned on, when you press the PS button. So yeah, this can be done if Nintendo bothers with it.
