I think the game suffers from the general brokeness and bad balance of most 90's fighters too, although I can't remember the details. I don't remember anyone liking the new mechanics like the weird parry and everyone complained that the breaker system was simplified to just guess between kick and punch.

I see. Were there any legitimately good Western made fighting games back then? Or did the Japanese only make fighting games that stood up for competitive play?

MK2/ UMK3 were considered the gold standard of western developed fighters at the time.

I don't play KI but I've heard good things but at the end of the day this community need to put thier money/vote where thier mouth is and support the game. This game should have definitely been at EVO in my opinion but they let it down.

If Marvel wasn't on the same ballot, I think KI would have won.

And why put KI World Cup on the same weekend as FR!? Like it was amazing but I couldn't watch it or play it while at FR ;_;

I just feel like once Marvel was known to be on the ballot, it was already decided that Marvel would most likely take it. Gave up before the fight even happened.

I think Pokken shocked the wold with how close it came to winning. No one was expecting that.

KI World Cup announced its date a year in advance, before FR 2016 even happened. Being the smaller event it keeps getting hit with "why be on FR's date?" but from a booking perspective FR was on KI World Cup's.

That's just the breaks sometimes though.

Oh damn. All i kept hearing was "Why'd they put KIWC on FR's weekend?" I apologize for the incorrect statement. I shoulda checked the receipts :(

I know tell me about it. Seems like Macho Pikachu's are far more popular than KI characters going by that result.

Hey all, two or three questions, mostly revolving around fight sticks

1. Does anyone here have the razor Panthera, used a mad cats forever and a day but lately I've been looking into a panthera for my PS4. It looks amazing but I don't know anyone with one so I can't get any first hand reviews from friends.

2. Can anyone attest to how well tekken is played on a stick. Jumping into tekken 7 expecting to really get into it. But streams I see here and there bounce back and forth between the usual pad vs stick argument. Usually it's about 90% sick and 10% pad for SF, anime fighters, etc. but for tekken I'm seeing a lot more split 50/50... unless I'm just looking in the wrong areas which is entirely possible.

KIWC announced their 2017 date well before FR did. Larry actually had to call Brandon Alexander to tell him
that he was picking the same weekend for FR.

thank god melty blood got that year at evo. it made the game a number one seller with the biggest community of all time.

not to mention i'm so happy smash made it to evo. that community was completely unable to do any events or form a scene without it.

UFGT, now Combo Breaker is always memorial day weekend. If esports orgs don't care enough to pay attention to the entrenched events of the community they are trying to engage, I don't see how that's on Combo Breaker in any way.
