Why do I feel like we're heading for another GamerGate soon? =/

Fucking unreal that people of renown like this are such contemptible arseholes.

what is an unperson

That's really what they're comparing this to...

Hey guys I just wanted to drop in here and say that I don't know what this Jon guy said and I don't want to watch any videos of the debate or on the subject or read over transcripts or even summaries of what was said and am woefully ignorant on how free speech actually works from a legal perspective in the U.S. let alone the U.K. and I claim to have no political or emotional stake in the discussion but I think it's kind of scary that this guy was kicked from this project just for having an opinion. This seems like a real first amendment issue that this guy can't just have an opinion and not lose his job over it. Think about the damage this kind of censorship does to art and free speech. I think the answer is somewhere in the middle because being racist is bad but being too not racist is just as bad.

Lol this isnt real.
And if it is I dont know which gif to use...its just too good

JonTron must be running what he says by a lawyer or third party as his post about this on Twitter seemed reasonable. Not what I expect from him at all.

Honestly. I respect this if he leaves it at that.

I was expecting him to stir something up for Playtonic's decision.

It's pretty sad to see Playtonic getting tons of harassment on Twitter as well, all of their Tweets today have tons of people screaming about "censorship" and stupid shit like that.
Why is it so hard for these dumbasses to realize that racism is not a valid belief that should be defended and that not tolerating intolerance is not itself intolerance?

I don't think they can lose the money at this point, can they? Hasn't it already been charged? If product codes are delivered can they actually ask for a refund?

They gained a sale to me with this move. I was "wait and see" on this game, but am buying it now just due to this extension of good will and (I think) very appropriate action.

If you support this decision, please share that support on social media. It gets noticed and it raises more awareness that most gamers don't want JonTron's views echoed nor supported in any part of the industry.

Because it doesn't just mean questioning Jon's beliefs, but questioning their own. That's a difficult thing to do for anyone let alone stupid racist shitlords

Same. I really hadn't intended on picking this up but I'm always going to support any other developers who take an open stance on this kind of bullshit festering in our community.

It's a shame it has come to this type of thing:

I just hope it doesn't hurt the sales. I know I'll still be buying regardless.

The saddest thing for me is that some of these might just be kids trying to defend their favourite YouTuber, who then grow up with this angry worldview that people are out to get them for being 'correct'.

Well, he is a fan of the company, so he probably has some respect for them that makes it harder for him to lash back. Hopefully makes him think a bit about it.

Great minds think alike. Are there any other developers that have done something like this that I can support?

So how silly do jt defenders feel when the man himself understands the decision and wishes them a successful launh 🤔

It'll get twisted so that when Jon said "understand their decision" that it's actually in reference to the controversy that was stirred up around what Jon said and not actually about what he said.

I love how questioning another human's right to exist and walk among you is "just politics". He isn't talking taxes, he is talking about his disgust at non-Europeans dirtying the American gene pool.

This pisses me off so much as a black man you have no idea. My life is not politics, my wanting to be respected and treated as an equal is not politics, my desire to see that black people or minorities in general are no longer wronged is not politics!

I hate politics! (except for the time I bought a MAGA hat, and the time I bought a Trump 2016 shirt, and the time I went to a Trump rally wearing the hat and shirt, and the times I spent discussing his policies on Reddit, and the time I went to a voting booth and voted Trump, and the time I celebrated once he won) I hate politics and don't want them in MY video games!

Just listening to the destiny interview and wow, this Jontron, whoever he is(actually never watched any of his videos), is quite stupid to say those things out loud, even if he has those kind of viewpoints how can he be so dumb to admit it?

Also: lol @ the angry jontron fanboys now boycotting yoka laylee...

Alright guys they removed him from the game and he's already burned a lot of bridges. Let's not ruin his life.

I don't want to ruin his life, but people who don't know better need to learn what it means to support him. That support helps him amplify ignorant and hateful opinions onto very impressionable young people.

I backed the project on Kickstarter so I've technically already bought the game. I am glad that they've made this decision and to show that I do support them I've just pre-ordered the game on PSN.

I'm not convinced that many people who say that they're not going to buy the game because of this will avoid it and one extra sale isn't really going to make a difference but I am very happy to support their decision by doing this.
