The next Playground game, the next Double Helix, the next Supermassive.
Supermassive doesn't do exclusives any more and they have no connection to Xbox. Are you just throwing stuff out there?

Lmao, you have no idea. By the way I would happily take on that betOne thing I just don't fucking get... How many studios could they have bought for the 2.5 billion they spent on Minecraft? That was probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen from someone in their position. Complete waste of money, and is be willing to bet they NEVER recoup that investment, probably not even close
I'm ready for halo 3 anniversary at launch with a COMPLETELY FIXED master cheif collection for Scorpio and Xbox One. They owe this to every Halo fan and everyone who bought an Xbox One with the desire to play this poorly put together game.
Either that or Microsoft won't get my money. Without this, I'll enjoy watching them become further and further behind Sony.
Unless they've bought some new studios I'd assume MS 1st party is working on the Halo,Gears, Forza.
I'd say nioh for sure, unless Sony has some kind of deal. That one is an easy sell in comparison to the others. And maybe KH remastered just because 3 is also coming and it has brand recognition
I don't see the reason for bringing the rest because they have zero selling potential

Their development partners make first party games as well, though. Like Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2, for example.Unless they've bought some new studios I'd assume MS 1st party is working on the Halo,Gears, Forza.
Yes, plus Sea of Thieves, Rare's other team(s), and whatever Lift is working on. But that's literally it, unfortunately.

His post wasn't that hard to read. The next Supermassive as in: The next relatively unknown studio to put out a great game.
Yes it does. You're thinking of Sunset.
Technically State of Decay 2 is 1P in the context Spencer is using it. And I think it's safe to assume at least one of the teams at Playground is working on the next Forza Horizon.
How would Fable fans feel if MS contracted FROM to Soulsify a new Fable game?
Kinda like MS's own version of Bloodborne but set in the Fable universe?
Eh. Not really. His point was that a new / unknown studio could surprise us, and that came across well enough. To me, at least. But the other two studios he mentioned have worked with Microsoft recently. Mentioning Supermassive muddled the comment.
Not that I actually want it, but a Dark Souls in the Fable universe with the whimsiness intact would be pretty damn funny tbh.Oh god no. All that Fable needs to be is a prettier and smoother Fable 2. That's it. Whimsical Fable is all I want.
I'm glad to see that the PR buffer that Microsoft gained by scapegoating Don Mattrick and having Phil Spencer take over is wearing off. It has been increasingly obvious over the years that Spencer just says whatever sounds good at any given moment or context. To be fair he's very good at that, he seems keenly aware of what people want to hear, however his actual decisions to this point haven't really demonstrated that there's much weight behind it.

EDIT: And rumor is Ori 2 is on the way. Pretty sure Lift London is working on HoloLens stuff.
I could easily be labelled as a Sony Pony (I own a Vita #greatestmachineever) but I hope that the Scorpio does well. Xbox needs to be around to keep Sony honest and vice versa. As much as I like Xbox exclusives on PC, in the long run I feel that it ruins the reason to have an Xbox machine. I worry if Scorpio fails then Microsoft may not have a dog in the fight for next gen, Sony may get complacent.

Xbox Juan will remember that!Microsoft must be doing a great job keeping sony honest. Because all I see are great games on their platform. I doubt sony gives a rats ass about what ms does and would be more than happy without them in the market.
I have zero interest in forza or Gears. I used to enjoy Halo, but hated Guardians. Fable isn't even a franchise anymore. They better hope multi plats outperform on Scorpio or there is zero reason for me to buy one.
Those are first party games, not studios.
It seems there is still some confucious.Hope? Of course it will.

Maybe they want Microsoft to exit the business, so they can lay down their flags. Console wars have been going on long enough. Some warriors just want to stop fighting. Not in the eyes of the average consumer.
Is it really that hard to understand that without any competition from MS (or Nintendo for that matter), Sony might get a bit complacent and slip into cruise control? Thus, they might not have as many great games on their platform. No need to get so defensive about it.
I'd bet you're probably wrong there. And just because a corporation would love it if their competition exited the market, doesn't mean that you as a consumer should love it as well
Right. Spencer just said bringing focus to 1P. Whether it's a publishing deal or an internal studio, it's effectively the same thing.

Yes, it amounts to the same thing in the short term... but not investing in internal projects is unsustainable for the long term.

You used the term "honest".
And the competition thing, man, how many times have I heard this nonsense before. How do you think Sony won the console race in the first place?
The current state of the market is the result competition. Competition doesn't just stop because some people feel like it. Companies are competing 24/7. Every single time a consumer decides between good A and good B, that's competition
I like Phil Spencer, he was handed the Xbox division right after Don fucked up, and I know he had to do his best job to make the brand look good, but I'd rather see rather than be told.
you know I prefer ms over sony right? If anything I hope all consoles leave the market. Let the consumers build their own consoles and purchase what they choose. Not lock games down to one system. Not in the eyes of the average consumer.

If either MS or Sony or Nintendo leaves the business, someone will take the spot.
or we'll have a good 1vs1 again

The problem here is that Xbox isn't Sony's only competition at all. They're also competing with smartphones, movies, tablets, television, and basically any other entertainment medium that takes time away from games. So even without Xbox around, they still have to work bloody hard.
I don't really agree with that. Who's capable of doing so? Of the companies capable of doing so, who would want to? Who needs to?
So in the end, somebody is going to be competing with someone? Fine by me.
The problem here, is that regardless of competition from other mediums, they'll still have the console market mostly to themselves. If the past is anything to go by, Nintendo will be doing their own thing, with their own games, with small amounts of third-party support. That leaves Sony as the only option for the average consumer who just wants to play the latest COD, FIFA, Destiny, GTA etc...
Not much work would be required on Sony's part to ensure that those games would be exclusive to their platform all but guaranteeing them success.
