Net Neutrality Is Trump’s Next Target, Administration Says

It's the politicians job to influence voters.

This is literally the opposite of true. It's the voters' job to influence politicians. They're supposed to be our representatives doing what we want. The best way to accomplish that influence (the only way, really) is by voting. Protests, calls, petitions, exactly none of that means a single thing unless you back it up with a vote.

The government isn't in the habit of giving back freedoms once they've been taken away. This sucks. I can't even find pleasure in watching his supporters online trying to defend this.

This issue isn't even a party line issue. The people have spoken a million times. It's frustrating how these scumbags don't work for us.

It wasn't a party issue until Obama began to take it seriously and tried to do something about it. The moment he started talking about it, opponents tied it to him and Democrats as a "liberal" thing. That's where you get Ted Cruz calling net neutrality "the Obamacare of the Internet", and the beginning of me wanting to jump out of a window as people who have never heard of net neutrality begin to fall in line and believe the BS spewed about it.

This was 100% a bipartisan issue until just about two years ago. I fucking hate it, but that's unfortunately what happened.

You know what? Fuck anyone that voted Trump or even decided to not vote in this election. You're a horrible fucking person and I hope you're fucking happy. Fuck you.
Don't go into the CBS Russia thread where a dude here didn't vote, says voting is pointless, and encourages everyone else to not vote.

Twitter should suspend his accounts in protest if they're against this. Jack, you better do this.

If this ends up going through then I hope ISPs make it cost an extra $3000 a month to access 4chan, Reddit, and Breitbart.

Edit: and porn.

Because this can never not be posted in a thread about net neutrality:

You're taking on powerful interests with this, although he'll have powerful interests in his corner (unlike with AHCA, where he had zero interests in his corner).

Net Neutrality is basically a proxy battle for Silicon Valley and Hollywood though.

Stolen via reddit but thought it pertinent. Read the comment section, yes I am saying read the comment section of a Breitbart article...I know.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/04/01/trump-plans-to-sign-repeal-of-obama-era-broadband-rules/

That troll with Putin as his profile pic is pretty funny.

I'm not that surprised that some of Trump's supporters that are avid internet users would be mad at him for this. Hell, I'm willing to bet most people would be angry about it if you explained it to them. Only the most hardcore libertarians would support something like this.

If it looks like this has a serious chance of going though hopefully Google and a bunch of other sites will do a black out like last time.

His presidency is basically erase Obama from the history books while golfing and deep throating Putin.

Yeah, it's his mission in this life.

It's the only thing to keep him going after he realize he had won and needed some sort of a drive to run this administration.

Once I explained to an anti-net neutrality (dumbass) that she was siding with Comcast, she quickly changed her mind about it. Everyone hates Comcast.

If it comes to pass, I could see it being a key issue for Democrats down the line. Restoring the internet to it's former glory would be an amazing rallying cry. I really hate that it's possible that it'll come to that.

Oh, I read it. And I didn't even bother with him. Just like any other Bernie or Buster, they're just as hopeless as Trump voters. If there's anything this election taught me, it's that the horseshoe theory is very accurate.

It's sad that our politicians are such huge sellouts that it requires lobbying to defeat lobbying.

I feel like any potential schadenfreude over seeing people charged extra for anime and /the_d would be quickly counterbalanced by CNN costing more than breitbart.

Yeah it is good subject to whip up people. Sadly people aren't whipped up now with Net Neutrality being under attack. Too many ignorant and/or apathetic people enjoy what they have but not protecting it.

CONTACT YOUR REPS & SUPPORT THE ELECTRONIC FRONTIER FOUNDATION! This is not a joke people & don't take it lightly thinking Trump is too dumb to get it done. Better to overestimate him and do all we can to stop this than underestimate and be surprised when the internet as we know it is fucked.

Donald J is going to lose this one and big. Even the extremely hateful aren't going to like this and are going to push back as well.

It's so depressing. For all of Trump's failures there's always stuff like this to remind you how fucking depressing and bleak it looks for the future of the country, if not the world. The end of Net Neutrality coupled with the shit education system ia such a recipe for a horrible, depressing as fuck future.

Money talks. I'll try what I can but there isn't much a thought in my mind to think we'll be able to do anything.

We'll have to rely on corps like Google, Facebook, and Microsoft to be able to swing the shit.

how will trump's fanbase reacts when he gets rids of their hentai?

Somehow there's plenty of North Koreans who still believe in the dear leader despite starving to death. Their delusion will find a way to make this okay, otherwise they were stupid people who got conned...that sort of realization will never come.

You think ISPs snatching up content producers and distributors was a coincidence. Think again. They are readying those sweet cable style tier access packages as we speak.

Where is that infographic when you need it?

It's fucking embarrassing. The USA is embarrassing. Every empires falls...

I say this as a born and raised US citizen who also happens to have Canadian citizenship and lives in Canada currently. I watch this from up here and just think: "fuck I'm glad I didn't move back 2 years ago when we wanted to".

Hey now, O'Leary might be gunning for Prime Minister soon.

Fuck.

Oh for fucks sake, not its not. It's the civic duty of every citizen to participate in government. The reason they can get away with this shit is because the people it effects don't fucking show up to vote. If they did this wouldn't go ANY WHERE.

I am 100% convinced that Trump's base will eventually come to believe that net neutrality is totally bad. They just can't stop themselves from loving everything Cheetodust Turd does.

I would hate it if we lose net neutrality because it's the one issue Trump can put forward that pretty much all republicans agree with.

The only people on the sides of the user are the old head of the FCC and some democrats. Everyone else is on the side of either att/Comcast or Silicon Valley billion dollar companies. So guess who will get screwed.

Multiple Silicon Valley companies lobbied the FCC last time to get the FCC to keep Net Neutrality. So, they are on our "side" so to speak.
