NES Classic Edition Thread: Now You're Playing With Power* *Sold Separately in Europe

At this point I'm fairly sure Nintendo is done with the NES Classic.
I'm sure it's not, but the production is slow.

Stock is coming back several times a week here, even if it sells out quickly. Last time was friday on Amazon.

I was annoyed about not finding one for months, but as soon as I used a tracker online and started checking regularly, I was able to order one in a couple of days. Don't give up...

I microwave steaks.
I want one so bad :(

Fuck Nintendo man. I feel like they doing this purposely now. Anytime it comes on Amazon or BB they sell out within minutes. Hasn't it been like almost 5 months now?

Blows my mind, picked one up at launch but sold it later to pay off some bills. Assumed there'd be plenty in stock when I looked again, but nothing. Was fortunate enough to catch that BB was going to sell them at a certain time, and even then it was hell ordering one.

I was surprised when one of my local stores here in Sydney had a bunch of them. Turns out Australia has recently received supply. Anyway, I decided to get one just for kicks.

I'm having a hell of a time after mine was delivered on Monday. Using my Wii pro controller with extension. Finishing Zelda tomorrow. On dungeon 8 now. Playing super Contra tomorrow.

after owning this for months, I have to say.

it's worth the wait, even un-modded.

you can go through the dark corners of internet to find
pirate
NES games and play on a shitty emulator or you can have this tiny thing plugged to your TV and enjoy playing your NES games like you did when you were a kid, without any hiccup and updated resolution.

this thing is worth more than its retail price, if you are a gamer in your mid late 30's like me.

I have my consoles, PS4 and such, but sometime I am tired at night and just wanna play 20 minutes, I turn it on, play anything that reminds me of my childhood, feel happy, enjoy my game, get a save state and get to sleep,

only added accesory is a long cable to be able to sleep at night.

I'd still buy one of these in a second if I saw it sitting on a shelf somewhere. This whole situation is ABSURD.

I've had one since launch day, but I'd still like to be able to see a stack of them sitting on store shelves just for the nostalgia of seeing the NES in stores again.

I managed to get one a few days ago, and it was the first time seeing the box and everything. Thing is tiny as hell. XD

Still available on gamestop, surprisingly. I was looking for this hard for awhile, but picked up the NT Mini instead and won't touch this with a 10 foot pole now.

Looks like another lamestop's forced bundle will be available soon. Says ships 4/7.

http://m.gamestop.com/product/nes/consoles/nintendo-nes-classic-edition-with-miniboss-wireless-controller-ships-by-4-7-17/138653

It appeared today but has not been available to order yet.

Kinda want it but kinda don't. Was about to check out but then was like, ummmmmm, do I really want it? I was wanting to get a Raspberry Pi instead and go that route.

Edit: Guess it had sold out already haha.

I still don't have one of these, but I have a question. Have they ever re-stocked controllers anywhere since launch? I'd buy a controller by itself to use on Wii/Wii U virtual console games, but I don't even see anyone talk about finding them anymore.

Hmm. I dropped out of this thread as of December or January. Thought Nintendo said that these things would be everywhere in 2017 and it's, what, early April already? Anyone know what happened? Did Nintendo just pull our (collective) legs and simply move onto the Switch? Is Nintendo betting that we all just forgot about this?

I'm loving this little console and paired with a 8bitdo SFC 30, it's bliss.
Nintendo really need to do a SNES and N64 mini.

N64 mini would hopefully have some kind of enhanced emulation. Playing with N64-like framerates now would get irritating to the eyes real quick.

But isn't that what people want? I remember Starfox originally launched on VC with a fixed framerate but folks complained so Nintendo patched it.

If they made it optional I think everyone would be happy.

I suppose. For 2D it's fine, but once you jump to 3D really slow frame rates begin to become painful especially when playing for extended periods of time.

Found one at a Gamestop today but I only had $20 and don't get paid again until Friday.

I hope it's still there Friday but I'm expecting it to be gone. orz

So I managed to get my hands on one of these a few days ago. My only issue with it is there seems to be a little bit of audio lag. If there's any input lag it doesn't affect gameplay for me...I can still pull of all the tricky stuff in Castlevania like backwards whip+jump over gaps, etc. But yea...a little bit of audio lag I think? Weird.
Does anyone know if I can get rid of the audio lag if I run the hacks/exploits?

Otherwise this thing plus the 8bitdo wireless nes30 pad is pure bliss.

But the second controller port works with a lot more than the OEM NES Classic Controller.
that's not the point.
why even get a nes mini when i can get a 3 dollar snes rippoff usb controller for my pc with thousands of roms.

My mom had planned to get me one for Xmas this past year, but as you'd expect wasn't able to find one.

She was at Toys R Us yesterday shopping for birthday gifts for my daughter and saw four on the shelves and ended up getting me one as a belated gift. The worker there said that they had them in the stock room for a while and never realized it and just put them out on the shelves. Lol.

Excited to introduce my daughter to these games.. She's been really into watching me play Breath of the Wild ("does he need to eat food now?" every time I got to the item menu screen) and of course Mario + Mario Kart, but struggles controlling those games. I'm guessing these will be better for her to get the hang of.

But the second controller port works with a lot more than the OEM NES Classic Controller.

Some people want to have the full NES experience with proper NES style controllers.

It's the same argument for why people want to get an NES Classic itself despite easier, cheaper, and more readily available alternatives exist.

I don't think they have, and it makes sense since whatever they do produce is likely just going with the actual systems instead of being sold separately.

I'm not sure why Nintendo decided to entirely cede the controller market for this thing to third parties, but they did the same thing with the Wii U GC Adapter, so I guess it's something they're comfortable doing.

I wonder if they're trying to appease 3rd parties, like when the GBA SP came out it fixed all the complaints of the OG GBA, so they removed the headphone jack so 3rd parties still had something they could manufacture (a headphone adapter)

Everywhere I go, I see tons of accessories for this damn thing. Cases. Extension cords. Controllers and Joysticks. I would buy a crap ton of these things if I could find one of these damn systems!

At this point, they are harder to find than Switches. I actually was in GameStop today and they had Switches available!

I haven't looked but can I plug two extensions Daisy chain style?

Also is there a way to get to the main menu aside from pressing the reset button?

Don't know about the extension cords but I'd imagine they'd work...

If you're using a Wii Classic Controller of any kind, you can press the Home button to go to the menu and if you're soft-modding your NES you can map a "Menu" button to a button combination. The default is down and select (-) but you can change it to something else you would like.
