Oh man Micromachines! It's such a good drinking game, at least the megadrive one playing 4 player where 1:st place drinks two gulps of beer and 2:nd place drink one, 3:rd and 4:th don't drink and this is whenever points are given out. So naturally those that are good at it get drunk fast so it ballances out and is quite intense.:D

Idk I've never seen 999 as much dark
But otherwise I agree VLR is bad
The ending twist was so awful I'm still not over it

Anyway finished Tides of Numenera, and the game was...boring?
Man, really, it was a while I didn't force myself to complete a game like I did in Numenera.
The fact is, while the main plot was vaguely interesting for me, how all the game plays is very boring. There are simply too many useless dialogues everywhere, and I firmly believe they are here just to artificially increase the game's lenght. While in Planescape reading each dialogue or bit of story was a joy, giving you a sense of completion toward characters, the surrounding world or your goal, in Numenera is just a waste of time 90% of the time.
The main plot is awfully short, and if you know what to do, you can complete the story in...4-5 hours?
There are just a bunch of locations, after the first big city, the game is very very linear until the Bloom, which has several screens that, excluding a couple of them, look all very similar.

There are a bunch of interesting sides, but the whole experience for me was just average, I give the game a 65/100.

Know I think the choice to actually cut stuff was for the best, just imagine those things going on for 60 hours instead of 20ish (I took 23 to complete the game with all the sides I found).

Man, Micromachines... All those memories of 4 player matches on the Mega Drive coming back to me. So much fun. Putting 2 additional controller ports on the cartridge was genius.

You could do some crazy stuff with cartridges, Sonic&Knuckles had the lock-on system, Virtua Racing had a chip to improve performance, this was so cool back then lol.

I want to buy Stephen's Sausage Roll but I'm worried I'll find it impenetrable and realize I'm not very smart lol.

It's not impenetrable at all. You just have to be willing to sit with an individual puzzle for a bit while the solution comes to you.

I'd look over a couple gameplay reviews to see if you have the right temperament for the game.

I personally think it's one of the greatest puzzle games of all time, but I also understand that it's not for everyone.

Enjoy? Dunno if any good!

Voodoo Vince has such a cute design which made the voice chosen all the more odd. Game looks shockingly good at 4K tho

Yeah, some of the texture work like on Vince himself is really detailed and looks nice at high resolutions. Shame I am experiencing the game speed issue while playing on a 144hz monitor; I'm running around like a maniac and jumping gaps requires really quick timing. I've tried adjusting the resolution and going into fullscreen/borderless and nothing has solved it, unfortunately, but glad they're aware of the issue. I ended up playing about an hour even with the messed up speed just because it looks so clean, but I've hit a point where the platforming is becoming precise enough I'll need to wait for the patch.

I have a 144hz monitor too but I'm playing it on my tv. Was capped at 24 fps while I had the monitor plugged in but luckily the borderline full screen option fixed it.

Game seems pretty charming although I don't like how you have to commit to a double jump immediately or it won't work. No hang time.

The double jump is something I noticed in various indie games that involve platforming. I think some other non-indie made platforms suffer from this as well.
Bizarre design decision IMO.

are there missable items in Trails in the sky SC? Like the books you need to get in 1 for the weapons

Yes there is a new set of books (Gambler Jack)
You can also find complete Carnelia in a certain place and Doll Knight to read (you can't collect this one)
Cold Steel has Red Moon Rose and Carnelia Reprint (you only need Red Moon Rose for the ultimate weapons)
Cold Steel 2 has Gambler Jack again and the sequel Gambler Jack 2 (only need 2 for the weapons)
Although both Cold Steels have a NPC where you can randomly buy the chapters you missed

The reprints also you usually just buy from certain stores instead of having to find random npcs with them too

I just learnt that Super Cloudbuilt is a thing and it'll be releasing in summer. I had no idea, seen nobody on GAF talking about it at all.

Loved the original game even with its flaws. Really curious about a new one.

Paul Kilduff-Taylor‏ @mode7games 4m4 minutes ago

a question - stuff which has previously had a kickstarter often launches well on steam - is that just due to existing popularity?

Paul Kilduff-Taylor‏ @mode7games 3m3 minutes ago

or is it something more technical like a huge amount of key redemption suddenly tripping valve's metrics?

I was going to say that it's the key redemption thing, but I'm now not sure if key redemptions affect place in the Top Seller lists.

Art in Pillars 2 continues to come along very nicely. I love these really high fidelity 2D pre-renders.

Full post here for larger pictures and more info about how the levels are constructed.

I hope Double Fine will remaster Monkey 3 and 4 now. Remastering games already available digitally like The Dig, Loom or Indie games make no sense, but MI 3 and 4 are missing.

Those games would be far easier to remaster tho, but yeah even a re-release of MI3 would be cool.
Thing is Alan Young voices the scottish pirate character and he passed away :(

MI4 could go with a Grim Fandango treatment at least.

Guys how does Commander Keen hold up? I've never played it but always been interested in it, and the bundle is only a couple of quid on Steam so I'll probably go for it.
