PURE POP! It's seriously a fantastic album! It's like they've never been gone for 20 years. Steps saving pop! LISTEN TO IT!

BONUS: The lead single Scared of the Dark performance. They look so good! WHEW! Life received.

EDIT: No but seriously, how is this album this good?! Someone listen to it and tell me I'm not crazy!

The first song did nothing for me tbh

BUT the rest was actually a really chill and relaxing experience! Will use while studying for some exams I have in the coming days~

A complete rip off, what a waste of everyone's time.

Let me go back to my kpop bubble (and take all of you with me):

Laboum - Hwi Hwi
Bright cute pop. Some Carly Rae realness in that infectious chorus.
BOP!

I went to their YouTube channel and look for more things from them I am currently enjoying Winter Story and Shooting Love.

Will stream their newest album and give a shot to their previous one.

I'm feeling this song (Feel It Out)

First listen done...

Album of the year.

I love how passionate you are about them lol, bless.

But I feel like the production is firmly rooted in the late 90s? From the snippets I've heard, sounds like they're sticking to that slightly dated sound. It detracts from the melodies IMHO, but I guess the album is for their fans.

I guess it's a mix of nostalgia and the fact that I had fairly low expectations, so I'm kinda blown away at how strong it all is. It's very consistent, especially considering they've been gone for a long time. o_O

The album represents what pop IS to me...

Well, you got this old fart to check out some of their stuff (which I've always avoided), so kudos to you :D

I understand, btw. Iirc, at the height of their popularity they were sort of like the British Ace of Base, right? That's the best comparison I can come up with.

Tell them! They are so underrated (even in the kpop circles), but they have a very strong set of singles. Their albums are decent, but I don't remember anything standing out.

Hope they can keep doing their thing (their last three albums had to be crowdsourced by their fans, RIP).

Nice! They were often compared to ABBA.

Look past the bubbly image and you'll see the quality is there. They have a lot of very catchy songs. They all just mesh really well together.

The 2000s thread got me thinking. PopGAF who were your faves in the early millennium? In b4 Brit, Bey, Mariah, and Christina

Pink, Xtina, Janet, Mya, Lil Kim (not pop but it's who was my fave at the time) Tamia, Usher and Aaliyah.

I was never into Britney like that during the 2000s but liked her singles.

Shakira shakira!!! Loved her! Lily Allen was one of my faves and also The Black eyed Peas when they were still relevant lol

Also the only queens worth mentioning, Girls Aloud!!!!

Björk and Madonna. I mean, you have Dancer In The Dark + Selmasongs, Vespertine and Medùlla from one plus Music, American Life and Confessions On A Dance Floor from the other. Absolutely deadly 3-hit combos from both of these queens. Missy Elliott and Jennifer Lopez were having amazing runs of flawfree bops during this time, too.

OMG yeah, totally forgot about Madonna (or Madead, as someone in here likes to call her). Music + American Life gave me so much life back in the day. I think I'd still enjoy them tbh!

J. Ho also had a shitton of bops.

I'll check out some of their stuff I probably missed, thx. Can't promise I'll ~fall in love~, but I honestly don't mind 'pure pop' melodies, as long as they're good.

Completely unrelated to Steps, but since you're an Aussie, I have to ask - why do you guys love Eurovision so much?

(I love that shit too, don't get me wrong, just curious).

Who wasn't all over Madonna in the Music and Dancefloor eras?

Also does anyone know what exactly is so fucked up with her production now that makes he sound like a weird background off key talker, instead of like she is singing like she she sounded on Music and Dancefloor? Her newest album has her sound so so dull and quiet compared to her hits.

She sings through her nose now and it sounds awful. Also, Rebel Heart was partially a mess since a lot of songs had to be reworked after the massive leak that happened nearly six months before the official release date. I assume that didn't help the entire era. After the leak, six songs were simply rush-released to Itunes.

Lipa has revealed the track list for her debut album.

She has delivereD so far with the tracks released so far so I'm excited to hear it all

I can't stop playing Breath of the Wild.

I went out to do the Last Divine Beast (Goron) and then I got distracted (again), ended up finding a couple of shrines and then was searching for some insects for some quests, last thing I know I help build a whole new town and was part of a wedding, and have a whole new upgraded Barbarian Set. I was supposed to have killed the Goron Divine Beast 40 hours ago.......

I can't with this game. It has got to be my new favourite game of all time? I dunno...

And I don't even know why Australia is so in love with Eurovision LOL. We've kinda always been drawn to that type of sound. UK/Euro songs tend to do well down under.

Gwen Stefani!

Love Angel Music Baby was one of the best pop albums of the last decade, The Sweet Escape was pretty disappointing but still had a few bops, and not even talking about her early 2000's No Doubt stuff which was pretty great as well.

Gwen Stefani turned me into a weeaboo too tbh
