Gran Turismo Sport Beta Thread

Hnnnngh!! That looks amazing! I may have to re-download the beta and see what they've changed. I put about 10 hours into it and liked what was there but the slow pace of unlocks and being stuck with cars that were clearly outclassed online instead of cars I actually wanted to try made me decide to wait for the finished game. Knowing now that they are actively tweaking things and changing the handling model and the like make me want back in.

You can tell its new by the obnoxious Brake text =/

Speaking of which, shouldn't some of these more modern cars have their brake lights flashing very fast, under hard (full braking)? It would be a cool thing to add to the sense of realism.

I saw this comparison of Willow Springs by emula on GTplanet

I think what GT Sport offers graphically above all other driving games is an unmatched sense of place, s sense of being part of environments that really feel like a tiny section of a vast world rather than just tracks with stuff around them.

One of the things they offer in terms of environment is a real sense of space, a sense that there's actual air in the environments rather than it just being "stuff on the ground". For me, this is something that GT has achieved in GT 5 and GT 6 where they started introducing tracks like Willow Springs, Matterhorn, Circuito de la Sierra, etc and it was unmatched in those games but GT Sport makes them look terrible in comparison.

Although the lighting and materials are so often ahead of other games but there's something else that binds the environments together as a single connected world. I may even go as far as saying that this sense of place is unmatched in any other game, of any type.

Even with that, it doesn't mean that it's perfect graphically and I'm sure when I'm playing GT on the PlayStation 5 and I'll look back at these screens in exactly the same way as I do at the PS4 screens now. The exact same way as I did when moving from PS1 to PS2, PS2 to PS3 and PS3 to PS4.

I do agree, but I just thought that the comparison was unfair, GT6 has some beautiful skies and I think the pic had too high exposure and saturation. GT6 can look better than in that screenshot.

Depends on the time of day, GT6 Willow Springs does look like that in game at that time of day. I think is around midday so it is a bit unfair of a comparison but not much.

They do, I got rear ended at the hairpin on Dragon Trial by a Genesis and when you watch the replay his lights start flashing before impact...

Edit: Hmm just had another look and they don't flash, just turn on which could well be the LOD switching up as he got closer...

Nothing impressive about the PS4 version of GT6, the tracks have just been given the Suzuka calibre spruce up that they held back from the PS3 version
A bit more than just the sky but definitely a much better job than what I did.

Interesting that GT6 has the headlights already on at that time of day while the GTS doesn't have any headlights visible on the asphalt ...not even in the moving footage on Brands Hatch that takes place at a much later time when it's almost dark already.

What do you mean? Like: same marks ? What does it imply in your opinion?

Willow Springs was laserscanned before, they re-used the same tire-mark layer from GT6 in GTS, that's all (or maybe just parts of it).

It also actually looks better and more life-like than Dragon Trail or Tokio Expressway (haven't played it myself, just from the little YouTube footage I've seen) in regards of anything hinting at "track usage" and being "lived in". Might still be coming, who knows.

I didn't plan on buying GTS before, but the beta conviced me otherwise. Online is a vast improvement over my experiences with GT6. If the single player mode has enough content I will get it day one.

And here I am still waiting for the message that I'm in the beta.

I'm sure a lot of people who signed up out of curiosity and who weren't even "that interested" got in.

Not fair :(
