Word has it that chapter 1 of story mode takes place before the first game but then moves along past that games story.

Yeah this is confirmed by multiple sites that played the first chapter.

Chapter 1 is a flashback re-telling the part of the original Injustice comic where Batman and the Regime fight at Arkham Asylum, but stuff has been retconned. I won't say what exactly but yeah, Damian is Robin in this flashback and iirc we haven't seen story cutscenes without him in Arkham Asylum, so who knows how he's portrayed in the rest of the story.

Personally, I feel like they're doing an MKX Liu Kang/Kitana/Kung Lao thing with Robin where there default appearances are misleading in order to hide story elements.

I can't say I'm a good judge of cinematography, but it's visually a lot more interesting then any past NRS story mode.

No,they are definitely videos of the console game. Before the first fight there is a jarring cut where the fighters are spaced apart like they would be at the start of a fight on the console game, only to jerkily snap to a much closer viewpoint with lesser graphical fidelity.

Only thing holding Brainiac back is that the impact from his sat beam looks weak and has kind of a jank animation. Cool that it vaporizes his drones though. Supes actually isn't that bad it's just kind of a downgrade from his IJ1 super

Could be a Milestone licensing issue, though I think that's unlikely. Could also be that they're working on pushing Black Lightning (and The Outsiders) or the new Thunder and Lightning gals and feel that Static is no longer relevant? Who knows.

the official launch of the mobile game came with a patch that dropped the gear from beating bosses on heroic from L5 to L2 or 3 gear in Chapter 1 on the campaign.
