Microsoft just announced their new UI language "Fluent Design" coming to the next major W10 update called "Fall Creators Update" and during the presentation we saw a bit of the new Xbox interface:

This is only a mockup..don't look at this as an announced design...just the principles they are showing (we all got burned in the longhorn days)

I hope the WinStore redesign isn't just a new coat of paint and Microsoft has finally put some effort into improving its foundation so issues downloading/updating games are no longer a common occurrence.

Was about to post this as well. These are most definitely renderings/mockups, but hell if they dont look a gazillion times better than the current Xbox One Dashboard/UI.

I always hated the flat black background of Metro/MDL 2.0.

This looks sooooooooooo much better.

What a coincidence, I was just looking at my watch and thinking to myself "Man, it's been 20 minutes since the last Xbox dashboard redesign, what's going on!?".

Thank god.

(Looks nice).

The way they have reserved 4 Gb of ram for Os only , i think we will get something close to this, cause these motion tiles will be heavy.

I've had heavy dynamic window transparency on my Mac since... 2002. On modern macOS you can be playing videos behind heavily blurred and transparent windows and it'll play fine even on machines with *only* 4GB of RAM. It really doesn't seem like this should be crazy impossible to make seamless and non-stuttering UIs on consoles in The Year of Our Lord 2017 without massive performance issues, especially since you're dedicating resources solely to the OS.

In the 4gb reserve 3gb is disk io cache if im not mistaken.

i dont know what you just said

The lead designer for the new xbox os had on his job description had implied that it was scorpio only, it was later clarfified that it would also be coming to xbox one. But it did mention that he would be making use of scorpios extra power for the os.

Am i back in 2013?

Im telling you, its exactly like it was with vista. No matter how much they improved it, people keep shitting on it year after year because of their first impression. it sucked in 2013 and therefore will always suck.

ah ok

I hate using my XB1 every second I'm not in the actual game

Seconded. The new dashboard revamp was an improvement but only a minor one. It's fundamentally flawed in a way I cant quite put my finger on. Hopefully the revamp to include Fluent Design Language will be better.

If it's real, it already looks too cluttered. You only really need the essential options in-game the rest is unnecessary.

I mean i am not talking just about the transparent tiles , its like how the snap feature have somewhat of lag in earlier Builds, So having that much of fluid motion in Ui usually requires a little bit more resource. that is the point I was making, they have now enough resource to make this happen without any hitching.
