Speculation: Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy is 1yr Console Exclusive (PS4)

All nostalgia aside Crash wasn't that great of a game. Who cares if its an exclusive or not it wont be a breakout success and will be forgotton about by the media less than a year after its out.

And yet, we're still talking about this series, 21 years later.

Is Crash not exclusive to Sony?
I thought he was Sonys mascot the same as Nintendos Mario and Segas Sonic.

Bad dealing, Naughty Dog was signed under Universal, so the games they made meant it was their IP, even though Sony pushed Crash and Naughty Dog, once Crash got that popular and Naughty Dog signed with Sony, Universal wanted a crazy amount of money and Crash was sold to the highest bidder.

Edit: It's also worth pointing out no matter how much people shout "BUT CRASH HAS BEEN MULTIPLATFORM!" ask most people which games they remember, it'll mainly be the PlayStation exclusive ones, the ones Naughty Dog made, the best rated ones, the ones people actually want.

He essentially was the mascot (albeit unofficial) but Sony never owned the IP. It was strictly Universal Studio's property from the start but later absorbed and now owned by Activision.

It's a clusterfuck of rights issues.

Bullshit they'd have that on an advert. I doubt many people would really care.

Obviously they do since this subject keeps getting brought up and these threads always get to be big. Personally, I don't care if the game is exclusive or not since it's not something I would buy, but there are obviously people who want to play the game on other systems outside of Sony's. We wouldn't be having this conversation if that wasn't the case.

Looks strange as hell having that on a store display. I can't think of a good reason to list such information on a store display where the goal is to attract customers and make the buying process simple. Also why would crash have an elaborate description of the exclusiveness while MLB is blank?

To be clear I think the exclusiveness of this game needed clarity yesterday, but this pic is too strange for me to take seriously.

To me it's weird because why would Best Buy tell you that there's no reason for you to buy this product now if you'd prefer it on a different console later? Why would you shoot down your own potential sales?

Exactly. There's nothing attractive about that phrasing from a sales perspective.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

To avoid an endless stream of customers asking "Is this on Xbox/Nintendo?"

It's really funny to me that the Playstation 3 didn't get either of the then-current Crash Bandicoot titles.

Edit: There are just as many Nintendo-exclusive Crash games as there are Sony-exclusive Crash games, assuming I'm not miscounting. Interesting.
Nevermind, miscounted, Sony has 5 exclusive titles to Nintendo's 4.

But again, when you mention Crash Bandicoot, what games do people remember? You'll be hard pushed to get anyone to mention the fodder games and majority of the time people will mention the PS1 games.

I think that kind of deal are likely discussed before announcements. I feel like they're basically cultivating the doubt for obvious reasons.
Maybe it is dependent on sales. Activision expects a certain amount of copies to be sold and if it doesn't reach that then they get to release it on other platforms. It is crazy neither party wants to say anything conclusively and we are a little over a month away and to be fair a bit annoying they haven't put an end to the charade...

Would they really try and pull such an act? I mean, I would get it if it were someone like Lara Croft, but Crash? Only way I could see him going multiplatform would be if they decide to go on PC since I can't imagine it going to Xbox One. Switch is a possibility too, but that would only drive people into begging to see Crash also join in a certain fighting game that he was not allowed to participate in...

...

Wishful thinking, but imagine how crazy it would be to see Crash in Smash. He'd be just like Cloud in the sense of how he decided to do Smash Bros rather than PS All Stars.

We'll see, but regardless of what happens a year from now, I'm getting it on PS4 when it does drop.

It doesn't have to be finalised by then tbf and can be done after see TF 1, ROTR. More likely things were in discussion hence lack of talk about platform or exclusivity.

I have a PS4, but like I mean why? Like I get why, but why?

Because why not? It probably won't cost a lot to port this game to PC, X1, and Switch. More people get to play the game, Activision makes more money, and new gamers who've never played the trilogy can pick it up. And this leads to more buzz around sequel.

Depends on who you're asking. 30-somethings that grew up in the original Playstation's heydey would say the Naughty Dog originals. Younger folks that grew up during the Wii's dominance of the industry might say the Radical Entertainment games instead.

Why what, exactly?

I find it very alarming and quite sad that so few people know that there are actually Crash games that aren't on a PS console. Like, I mean technically both Twinsanity and WoC (Wrath of Cortext) were on PS consoles despite being multi-platform, so hopefully some of yall have actually played those, but it's a shame that nobody seems to remember Tag Team Racing, or the Crash GBA games, or even Crash of the Titans and Mind over Mutant. I mean none of these really quite compare to the first three, but Crash ceased being a Sony only thing back before the Ps2 launched. :/

Seriously, I feel like lots of people have missed out on some really fun games.

Ha, this is consistently mentioned and I have no clue why.

I know personally from my social networks, people who don't care about games talking about this. The last time I saw such things was for FO4.

Now I know that's anecdotal but even still in the UK at least this has been a consistent high presence on the Amazon UK games charts.
I think there will be a lot of crow eating from the "Crash is rubbish and no one cares crowd" very soon

My sister is one of those people who wouldn't touch any game with a ten foot pole, even mobile, but she is 100% on board to play Crash every once in a while.

She would never buy a console for it but Crash Bandicoot definately has power on an audience that isn't always vocal on usual gaming social media.

But by your own admission she's not spending money on three game. People who play and don't invest are irrelevant to the Publisher.

Do you think Activision would ruin what little partnership their have left at MS for Sony?

A lots of non "dedicated" gamers own and share consoles. They buy them for Fifa, Madden, and Netflix. Those people are also interested in this. m If Sony and MS could only sell consoles to people who cared about 100 hour open world experiences, they would be in trouble.

Seems kinda pointless to put it on the XB1, but not putting it out on the Switch is a big blunder. This is a game that suits a Nintendo platform.
