Just started playing today. First time playing a persona game and .....I can't play this game for 30 minutes without falling asleep.

Idk why but this game and the dialog, the cutscenes etc so far have been interesting yet very sleep inducing. Doesn't help that so far everything feels so hand holding, like the game is playing itself/ it's on rails.

Maybe I need to drink some coffee.

I get that vibe a lot in this game, not necsarily in terms of getting bored (game gets pretty repetitive tho), but a lot of the designs and music in this game feel soothing and sometimes i start nodding off lol

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

Persona 5 is a very linear game by design.

Theres a lot of systems and mechanics so until you complete the first palace there will be a lot of tutorials.

I'd describe persona games, and Persona 5 in particular, as 80% Visual Novel, 30% Dungeon Crawler.

The dialogue in the beginning is so weirdly worded too, thanks to the mediocre translation. There's no pep to it, I agree. That said, once you start moving in on the boss of the first dungeon, I got pretty pumped.

I want to say 4/18 is the date where you start to have freedom to choose how to spend your time.

Do you guys try to use Fortune every time before you go out with a confidant? Leveling Ohya and Hifumi seems like a drag compared to others.

I was going to question your percentage breakdown, but the Persona games (P5 especially) are so long that 110% sounds about right, haha.

Finally got the Platinum

GOTY

Sorry Zelda

Got the platinum last night as well, ~70 hours for my first play through and just under 200 hours for my NG+ playthrough which covered all the platinum trophies. Crazy thing is I only had ~6 trophies left after my first run and thought it would be a quick breeze, but it takes a LOT of hours to 100% the compendium and build up the personas you need to defeat the NG+ boss. Still enjoyable, but not sure I would have done it if I knew it took so long.

I'd still put Horizon Zero Dawn above Persona 5 for me, and I don't think I wanna play a similar type of game now for a couple of years but I really enjoyed my play through. Very different story style, aesthetic, and environment/ world than the games I usually play.

Public Execution does wonders for the compendium. Constantly getting new Personas made it so easy to 100%.

Okay, I've just started
dating Makoto
, but now I also have the chance to
date Takemi
.
The only thing I know about that situation (I heard it in a review, without more details) is that
dating multiple girls
unlocks an additional/alternate scene on
Valentine's day
.

Now I'm just hesitating about
dating Takemi
as well.
Is there any downside about having
multiple girlfriends
? Or should I not worry about it at all?

That's my first Persona game, so please avoid spoiling any details I don't know :)

(just in case that's important to mention, I've finished the fifth Palace and I'm currently waiting for
Okumura's
deadline)

I'm tired, but I like your explanation so I'll go with that.

Also, why do Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There and Last Surprise have really good sounding violins while Rivers in the Desert and a few other final themes have kinda crappy midi sounding ones?

Been playing for about 7 hours and thought it worth asking if there's a good spoiler free guide for best ways to optimize stat increases and how to avoid the bad endings.

Also, coming off Persona 4, I'm really missing shuffle time.

I just realized I rented a DVD at the start of the game and I just beat the final boss having never returned it. MC going to be broke.

I am now in Palace 5. I completed Palace 1-4 as soon as I could, but I remember there was something to be careful of when to complete Palace 5. Can someone remind me?

Just finished the game, credits are rolling now.

I feel so bittersweet... and empty inside...

Oh man location spoiler
shinjuku
looks pretty rough graphically.

They couldnt get it to look as good as Yongen Jaya or Shibuya. At least the interior of that one bar still looks gorgeous.

But yeah makes yoy appreciate how good the rest of the game looks.

Route to the treasure secured on Palace number 4. Did anyone else found it to be quite shorter compared to the previous three? Kinda of a shame since some of the puzzles were really cool. Still a great level in its own.

Do the other palaces have more content?

Um, they'll definitely be longer, that's for sure

Partner just got this game from Gamestop and....all the menus and voices are in Japanese.
Maybe I'm dumb, but I don't see an obvious way to switch it all to English.

A bit late to the party, but that article about translation problems in the game from Eurogamer was pretty great, if maybe a bit short.

Oh I'm aware! I've cited it many times in here already and made a couple people tired of the discussion in the process haha.

And....it looks like GameStop gave me a Japanese copy, or so I'm reading.

Unless I totally missed something there's nothing special like that about Palace 5 (just finished Palace 6).
