They nullified the mana stuff by giving twilight passive mana regen. Removing it is a top 2 necesary malf nerf in my book

I think they should nerf its damage, and leave the mana regen. Either nerf would hit him hard, but the burst it does seems just absurd for a healer.

When does the event end? I played the first 5 to get the genji stuff, and then two more the other day with Brian..... how many more do I need and will you play them with me?

To get everything you'd need 13 more games before Tuesday. And yeah I can probably do a good bit of em with you, just depends on when you're around.

Yeah I thought he sucked before the mana regen. Would rather see the damage hit too, but not sure if it's enough.

I started playing some unranked draft after getitng annoyed at bad random compositions in quick match. Always on the side with no healer or no tank against a team with 1-3 stealth assassins.

I'm trying to be useful with KT, but have no idea how. Like, I do a lot of damage, but I cannot seem to secure kills because people shield/heal his W and when I'm close enough, they can easily burst me down.

You aren't the kill securer typically, you are doing your job if you're sitting back and dealing AOE damage, zoning, and following up stuns with your stun. It's up to your warriors and other assassins to follow up your damage to get kills usually.

Mmm, I do t think that's the full story. He does have burst still at later levels when he chains stuff, but it isn't as high as it was (he can't erase someone solo, but he can take a large chunk their life away).

The thing about Kt is his stun - that's why you pick him, and why he works so well in burst comps. He has a very powerful, very reliable stun (one of the strongest in the games), so is perfect for following up your tanks CC and Eliminating someone. That's why he goes into pick comps, and why Dig loves him so much. If you just use him as a backline dps who throws a stun out to protect himself you aren't maximising the use of the hero, and you're probably better off with some other options.

The results screen won't tell the story but pretty confident I carried a game off pinging camps and telling Dehaka where to go (mostly to soak waves no one was matching). Always wound up with a level lead during team-fights.

Also, Tyrande is kinda interesting. More interesting to play than Uther for sure but a little less easy. Same as with Uther though, no one seems to respect the amount of damage she does, lol.

I haven't tried her new iteration but I can say that fighting against her is difficult as hell. She feels weirdly hard to kill.

Might be because of a talent she picks up that lets her (and anyone else) heal off Basic Attacking marked enemies. She can also talent Light of Elune into granting Spell Armour.

I agree with that, but she isn't gonna split push on you all game and force someone to babysit her.

I have to say that I usually don't split push all that much when I'm playing Murky. Since his rework he brings a lot to team fights. I honestly feel like shines is one of his strongest maps right now. Lot of places to place your egg so that you're back in the fight almost instantly, fake eggs give vision of the shrines, with the invisibility on spawn it makes it difficult to determine where the real egg is and if you get back while you're still invis you get a free slime on a target of your choosing. Not to mention thatteams tend to clump when they're fighting over the punisher so march is insanely effective.

Had a pretty crazy game recently where I basically won us a team fight with a five man march and then got a punisher by myself later in the game. They wiped us but had only Zarya and a half health Genji left. I killed Zarya, because she can't do shit to fish tank Murky and dies real fast to toxic buildup and after I bubbled Genji's dash and slimed him he had to b. The Li Ming who got MVP at the end even said "thanks for the carry Murky".

Good Murky games are the most fun I have in this game and playing against a good Murky is some of the most annoying shit you'll have to deal with. I bet the enemy team hated my guts after that match.

I mean Falstad just needs his AA right ?

If we ever get a 5 stack going on hanamura ... we have to try this. TL;DW 2 Support, 1 lane pusher, 1 bribe hero, get healer merc on cooldown, push lane until fort down rinse and repeat on second. GG

Also for new d.va mains you can block nuke damage if you put defense matrix on the dude that sent the nuke. It's crazy.

I would venture most names are veteran folks. I haven't kept track of how many were added this year, but there were a good number there beforehand so that's probably not a good route to go looking for new players. I would add them, though, and post your tag in here and at the least there will be folks on when you get on. MMR issues and the like may prevent you playing together being a fun experience, but some will probably be in the range you need.

If you're just looking to do the Nexus Challenge, there's always /join nexuschallenge to find group mates.

If you're looking to really learn to play, /join amovetv /join frogpants are two pretty decent communities. I see folks asking for groups for QM and unranked in there fairly often, and they are a lot more laid back than the usual MOBA crowd from my experience. Keep in mind channels don't work amazingly well in game so you may not get a reply because people are already in a game (which you can see in the sidebar) and they can't see the channel chat until they get out.

Can always add the regulars here in the thread too like myself depending on your region.
Thanks, I appreciate all the info.

I have a few friends that have played for an extended period of time as well, so I'm kinda running in to the MMR issue with them too. Useful to know about all the channels too.

HOTS is my first MOBA so I'm still learning the ropes but may add some of you as I get more comfortable with the game.

Yeah but they run away. Probably should warn them you can be shielded but then again they have people still shooting my team while inside. I guess not everyone realized what her abilities are I guess lol

That strat has specific weaknesses (jungle invade, waveclear, picks w/ stuff like stitches) but outside of a basic sylv/hammer 4 man w/ global solo it is a pretty optimal strat. If it was still a limited map rotation w/ hanamura being highlighted ppl would learn the meta for this map a lot quicker but i kind of see this map being retooled sooner than later...tho realistically they prob wont unless the community raises a fuss

Personally i think it's pretty great to have a map where the map objective kind of sucks, like if this notion can spread it would help ppl make more rational decisions imo.

I don't know how viable it is in reality but I'd definitely like to try it if we have a 5 man one night, even if the comp isn't exactly perfect.

The MMR thing sucks for trying to play with friends or new players. If your friends have decent to good MMR it puts you into situations you normally wouldn't see on your own which just makes the learning curve that much harder. In theory you're faced against someone else in your situation, but in practice it's just not much fun for anyone involved even with that. If you catch onto games quick it can be great, though, as your friends can more or less boost up your MMR to their level quicker than you'd have done on your own, and if you are improving rapidly it wouldn't take that long before you actually belong there.

I like hanamura. It feels like a less rng version of boe that can support more team comps

I love Hanamura. I also have a 76% winrate on the map in like 25 or 30 games. I do think the fort = x2 mechanic is maybe a bit much because given a misplay by one team + the right comp you can be in a 4 shot hole in no time, but I also don't know how else you'd do it off the top of my head. At times it feels a bit like Sylvanas on Haunted Mines if the enemy gets an Azmodan or Xul who can really shove a lane from a distance or when they come through, but overall I enjoy it.

Visually I like it a ton, which is part of why I hate Warhead (it looks like baby poop), so that probably helps.

If they really wanted the map to be payload focused they could switch it so a delivered payload causes the other payload to disappear

I always thought it would have been better if there was just one payload for both teams to fight over

Aren't we about due for a tease for the next hero?

Also, I know some of you make groups, but it sounds like we have a lot of EU players here. Anyone in the US? A friend and I play HotS a bit and lurk here also and thought making a group may be fun. Totally casual, no pressure.

Are some heroes as bad as they seem?

I don't know why you would use Kael when Chromie is in the game - I used both, and Chromie felt WAY stronger (more power) and had greater flexibility and range.

Why is that Barbarian character in the game? She seems incredibly bad compared to almost every other Warrior. Low damage, no way to pursue or stun, and her survivability wasn't great. Compared to Muradin or Arthas, I have no idea why I would ever pick her.

That Barbarian character... you mean Sonya? She has very high damage, a stun on her Q, which pulls her to her enemy, and has a heroic that gives her another stun and another way to pursue... She also has pretty solid sustain with her whirlwind, though it requires a lot of melee targets.

Muradin and Arthas are Tanks, while Sonya is a bruiser. You pick her for her damage and sustain.

Sonya has a 52.7% winrate across all leagues in HL, so she's clearly not useless.

Uh

KT is actually better than Chromie is almost every regard. I think most will attest to that.

Sonya just got nerfed, but she's great as well in double warrior comps.

You can kinda sus it out by comparing their kits. Kael has the ability to chain cc with e and force repositioning with w and is in general less all-in on a combo compared to chromie. Sonya (that's the barbarian right?) actually does pretty significant dmg; her job is to go in either when their cc is down or to go in explicitly for them to waste a cc and then spin on em. Her passive gives movement speed but she def fares better with an enabler like brightwing or tass

Sonya? She has a great melee AoE that heals her at same time, great for heavy melee comps and merc camps, uses ancient spear and leap to quickly engage, pursue and stun in those two abilities, and isn't held down by mana constraints. She has plenty of up time.

She's not really a tank though, and more of a bruiser. Her damage is relative, it may seem low, but if you can catch a player out of position, you can guarantee Sonya can chase down and kill with an ability rotation that is constant.

they only lower gem cost. There's not much else to do with gold other than rerolls and heroes

Anyone check out the reddit post on Dehaka? https://www.reddit.com/r/heroesofth...a_has_dropped_from_a/?st=j2w29e73&sh=7f350838

I hadn't been paying attention to his winrate but looks like he got inadvertently rekt by the Primal Aggression change and now he's suffering like Lucio is. He now has the third lowest winrate in the game just ahead of Tass and Medivh (not counting Cho'Gall).

Now we are down two tanks, ETC and Dehaka, when I really felt the warrior pool was in a pretty good place overall with the exception of Anub.

I think most of us are actually NA players, just not everyone who plays posts often. We typically have a group going most evenings in some form or fashion for a while with people coming in and out.

For some reason I seem to gravitate towards the specialists. Hammer, Abathur, and now Probius are my three favorite heroes to play.

There's been an uptick of European players with 2.0 but not counting me there's only around 3 or 4.

Expect a tease in a bit more than a week.
