HOLY SH*****: Google can tell you what time an event is in your timezone

Aiii

So not worth it
So this is something I've been noticing a lot lately... you'll see some event starting at a certain time and unless OP includes a countdown image, users will constantly inquire when the event starts in their timezone.

Even worse, with DST being in effect, even when OP includes times in GMT, UK people will get confused, being on BST, etc.

So here's a PSA, you can actually have Google tell you what time something is by asking it.

Lets say you want to know when the Sony E3 press conference is, and you look it up and find out it's Monday, June 12 at 6 PM PT. Now go to Google, type in the following:

6PM PT in my time or What time is 6PM PT

Google will then display a card with the correct time. Alternatively, you can ask: 6 PM PT in CET and get a specific timezone translation (replace CET with whatever, of course)

Hope this helps some people in the future.

-edit: Darn, this was supposed to be in OT, my bad.

Apparently Google can answer other questions unrelated to time zones as well, look into it OP, sounds right up your alley.

Yes, Google is really helpful. You'd be suprised how often just shouting something at Google Assistant will get you what you want.

This thing is broken. Google grabs from random ass sites with the wrong time frequently.

I wish people didn't blindly believe everything Google says, because their bots that do this are not even close to perfect.

Edit: not quite the same thing as the OP.

I mean, calculating time zones is a thing that has been possible on the internet since the beginning. It's not that shocking.

Did you know that if you don't know the meaning of a word and don't have a dictionary handy, you can just ask Google?

You don't even need to ask, just put in the time and it will convert it

6PM PT

18:00 Sunday, in Pacific Time is
02:00 Monday, in Preston

I remember this from when I was still using FireFox. Chrome doesn't do the conversion for me when I google those things.

Pretty sure people know this but are just too lazy to google it.
Same thing everytime someone has a question really

Figuring out time zones within the U.S. was never an issue for me. I think that Google has made it easy for everyone to become lazier as far as using a computer to tell them everything instead of trying to learn it themselves.

Right now Gaf is an hour behind, and I swear I had the time zone set up properly. I need to get back to my laptop and check out the time zone settings.

But yeah I usually just google time zone differences and calculate when things are. This will definitely help

Welcome to...multiple years ago?

If you're blown away by that, wait til you yet used to Google Now proper.

And then you'll be ready to be blown away by Google Assistant,..

Pro tip: You can add events to the calendar app of your choice and as long as you provide tzinfo they will be correctly placed on your calendar.

No shit? Welcome to Google, dude. It'll also tell you how much 1000 yen is in your currency, what temperature it is in the Gambia, and it'll even do a barrel roll if you ask it too.
