Civ games pick up lots of sales during discounts. Civ 5 has been less than $10 and in humble bundles for ages now.

We aren't even at the first expansion, which a lot of people will wait for

Yeah, Civ is all about the five year life cycle. It will pick up crazy numbers from sales, but also from the expansion releases.

Wii Sport is the best selling single platform game, tho

The top games are a weird situation all around. Wii Sports was basically given away for free with the Wii in NA+EU. Minecraft includes the $7 mobile version which isnt even maintained by the same dev. Tetris is all these things rolled into one 30 year old game.

Thats not to take anything away from them since I think all 4 are well deserving of their place in history.

The figure gives the wrong impression. The game shipped 4.5m in its first week but has only just recently hit 5m. Supply greatly outstripped demand.

Delayed PC release = prime double dip move.

You only need to look on here for people who bought both a console version and the later PC port of GTAV. Obviously it would be preferable for players to be day and date but from a business standpoint they certainly won't lose out.

Unpopular opinion, but i liked mafia 3 alot. It was repetetive but fun if you didnt rush through it. And man, some of the characters in that game..

Keep Mafia alive! Happy that it sold well, really enjoyed a lot of that game. It had a ton of style even if the structure was repetitive as hell, and the characters were pretty amazing. Hope we get a Mafia 4 one day!

Not having single player DLC for this game remains ridiculous. There's the endless tsunami of revenue from GTAO stuff, of course, but, god they could have hit 8 figure sales of DLC. Actual free money with zero risk of not turning a profit, just sitting on the table, untaken. They said extremely early there'd be no DLC, too. It was clearly never up for discussion.

I need to get back into Mafia III. I played it a bit then just drifted away from it.

I'm 99% sure it's gonna get there, PS5 and XB2 most probably will get a 4K version as well, alongside other visual and maybe gameplay/content improvements, it will reach 100m for almost certainly.

You know what's insane? GTA V has become one of the most watched games on twitch in recent months due to the role playing stuff. I wonder if Rockstar is going to find a way to capitalize on making money for that kind of thing in future games...they have hundreds of thousands of people watching GTA V weekly

GTA Online and their Cross Gen port strategy paid off in a big way for 2K. Would be foolish to not try to do this again with GTA6

Expect the game to run at 25 fps sub 1080p in 2019, then re release it again on the new consoles and pc in 2020.
