Just amazing movie.love it.
True.I can give JW the edge in CG, but I'm saying that JW just looks like overproduced garbage when compared to TLW. It's like The Hobbit vs. The Lord of The Rings. TH has significantly better CG than LoTR, but LoTR overall looks much better.
That's how I feel about JW vs TLW.
I don't know what to say. I don't know why it has to be an either/or. They both look great and I especially noticed how well the animators actually gave weight and character to the dinos in JW. *shrug*Gifs above show the weight and tangibility of pre-JW dinos.
JW dinos looked overanimated.
That raptor jumping onto the car is awesome.
Those scenes you mentioned are fantastic. The whole first half of JW is mostly great! But once Owen gets on his bike, shit gets ridiculous.True.
But at the same time, two of JW's more subdued attack scenes (I-rex escape, and when Claire and Owen are hiding behind the jeep) play out more like the animatronic scenes of old than going with over-produced cg as you say. There's much needed and appreciated (by me) restraint shown.
One of my favorite scenes is when the I-rex cocks its head and takes a bite of that one dude just before escaping. And I'm still not convinced its not an animatronic when Owen is hiding under the truck.
Sorry for the derail, this is about TLW.
I found myself most looking forward to the TLW segments myself. Did not disappoint. That open valley in the moonlight was a standout section.I think the Lego Jurassic Park missions are the best telling of this story, ahead of both the film and book.

They should have kept some of his deleted scenes in. There was some good characterisation there that would have been better if it were included. He was a very grey character with his own set of rules but comes across unnecessarily as a villain up until his final scene.
When I saw this come out in cinemas, I loved it right up until San Diego.
It's got some great scenes, but I'm hot/cold with TLW every time I watch it. The trailer attack is unreal but the rest of the film is just unnecessarily dark, both tonally and visually.
I wish the extended cut was on blu-ray, as it had that awesome scene with Pete Postlewaite fighting a dude with one hand re-inserted into the movie

I loved the animatronics. I disliked how the story veered so far off from the novel as I liked the mystery and science involved. I didn't mind the T-Rex rampage but thought they should have taken it further with raptors. There is no way the rex was able to kill all those boat workers when she was inside the cargo bay.
I was so disappointed by this movie as a kid. Even from the trailers, I knew there was no way it would measure up. I didn't even enjoy getting more Jurassic Park, it just low key soured me on the franchise in general.
Happy 20th birthday mediocre sequel that only contained a few good scenes mixed in with a lot of hilariously bad ones.
Raptors were supposed to have killed them, but they never filmed it. Really bugged me as a kid lol.
In retrospect, it would have been such an easy oversight to fixRaptors were supposed to have killed them, but they never filmed it. Really bugged me as a kid lol.
amazing gifs
I thought the rex was originally not in the cargo hold, it broke out and killed the people on the boat. It ended up going into the cargo (maybe chasing after someone) and one of the injured/dying people on the boat closed it on it. I believe the restraints the rex was originally in can be seen all torn up on the deck. Could be wrong, need to go rewatch that scene.

Have a dead raptor body found on the ship as they are making their way to the cabin or something
That makes sense. One of the bodies is holding the control to open/close the cargo hold. Maybe the guy died closing it.
