I think it's more than enoughAm I the only one who thinks that Mario, Skyrim and Xenoblade is totally enough to carry Christmas? If there's Pokemon Stars too then that's a full slate.

Road to E3 is somehow worrying imho
I mean: the main goal the Switch should have been in terms of being an hybrid would have been to merge the portable and home usual output (from Nintendo, Japanese softco usually working on portable and indie scene - not talking about an actual change of sort in terms of third party relationship)
This should have created a landscape with way more games than before (the classic "3ds + Wii U lineups merged togheter" thing you know), with way less voids/droughts
Instead it seems to me that we are seeing a normal (even if well balanced, compared to the 3DS or Wii U first 6 months) release schedule, still waaay thinner than competitors
I mean: Emily Rogers hinted many times at a Switch first year (I've always assumed March/December 2017) lineup able to destory the Wii U year 1 one.
Even if we'll see MarioxRabbids, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario Oddissey and Xenoblade 2 all released in the second half of the year, I'd say that it is a great lineup of first/second party products, exclusive (more or less) to the system, very interesting and probably able to attract way more buyers than the Wii U, but still a "simple" even if well-managed usual Nintendo home console lineup.
Nothing mind blowing, in terms of "change of pace" in terms of software release.
I'd say that Nintendo should REALLY pump way more software out starting from Q1 2018 (once the production ramp up of the console should have been adjusted), with an E3 full of reveals also for the projects that will hit the system later on, actually confirming this "rumored" merge between their portable and home internal/partnership software output
What do you think?
I'm actually very skeptical about that for the same reasons. In fact, when you actually look at Miyamoto's quotes about a new Pikmin game... there's nothing in them that proves he isn't referring to Hey Pikmin.
The only reason people are hoping there is some other mysterious Pikmin game is because a Nintendo representative said "We can confirm Pikmin 4 is in development, but nothing else." Miyamoto himself said nothing that suggested it was a mainline game on consoles, just that it was a Pikmin game that was "close to completion". "Pikmin teams are always working on the next one." Except he didn't define who these "Pikmin teams" are. Could easily just be himself and any other relevant producers. Also note the plural - he didn't specify EPD.
Surely Occam's razor would suggest the actual Pikmin game close to completion that we've already seen is what he was referring to. To say nothing about the fact that it's on 3DS; a system that makes sense for them to have been developing for in 2015.
Judging by how little support the likes of Capcom & Level-5 are giving the Switch, I'm kinda expecting a slow start. I'm not sure if any third party expected the Switch to be a hit.I'm just hoping that Japan is fully on board sooner rather than later...Things like the recent Level 5 comment are worrying as fuck that Switch will have a slow start once Nintendo's initial onslaught ends (and it is a strong effort from them, and hopefully markedly stronger than we even know).
Nintendo ideally would have had Japan confident in Switch before it launched and the lag in support cut to a minimum for an industry that tends to be slow in transition.
I'd rebuy LA Noire, I suspect I'm in the minority though. It's certainly one of Rockstar's less replayable titles though.
I would love to know how many Nintendo systems had a better first year than the Switch from first party. This system is amazing when you have their two BIGGEST single player IP's coming in its first year with Botw and Super Mario.
Let's see what we have from Nintendo so far with the Switch
-Zelda Botw
-Snipperclips
-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
-Super Mario Odyssey
-Fire Emblem Warriors (their IP being used)
-Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (their IP being used)
-ARMS
-Splatoon 2
-Project Mekuru
-Xenoblade Chronicles 2
This isn't even a full year or all the games announced for a full year. We have rumored Retro's game, Pokemon Stars, Smash 4 Switch, Fire Emblem Switch and Pikmin 4.
I love this. The Wii U didn't get Zelda until 4 years in. It got 3D Mario one year later. It got Mario Kart almost 2 years later. It got Splatoon almost 3 years later. It got Xenoblade 3 years later and Hyrule Warriors 2 years later. This is just the beginning and I'm so happy and optimistic from what I see.

This. People are acting like because Switch came out during PS4's lifespan, it should have the amount of games PS4 does already. Even with all of this coming out this year, it means we'll likely get Pokemon next year, Fire Emblem Animal Crossing, etc. Switch is off to a great start.

It's probably more that the lack of third party support is more of an issue than what the first party is providing. People want to see some effort put into the system with new games or exclusive ones rather than enchanced ports of older games and such. We'll likely see a big flow of third party effort next year.
They should wait until E3 2018 to see how third party developers turn out. Even Reggie said they're playing a wait and see with the Switch. As long as it sells well you'll see more third party games. Nintendo's best option is to keep doing collaborations with third party devs to make games for them like Bayonetta, Wonderful 101, Mario + Rabbids, Hyrule/FE Warriors.
Nintendo needs those online games to further justify the paid subscription service, I feel that is the main reason Nintendo concentrated on these games year 1 and the more single player focused games come next year, hinted at by games like xenoblade 2 supposedly being late this year and fire emblem next yearI wonder if Nintendo is going to start bringing back a more varied lineup with the Switch?
Looking back at the Gamecube, the last Nintendo Home Console I really loved - though the Wii had some good games too - it had its share of party games as well as serious games. (Path of Radiance, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, etc.)
As of late, Nintendo feels very much as if it's sticking to family friendly games like Splatoon and ARMS, and while I enjoy those, I'd love a more serious Fire Emblem or Metroid Prime-like game on the Switch.
Retro's new IP and the new Fire Emblem could be good - sincerely hope that they're more mature than Nintendo's usual offerings, if only to vary things up more.

Man I want to see skyrim.
I wonder if its between the 360 and definitive version graphically.
Agreed, and I don't doubt that's coming. Wii U did have games like Xenoblade Chronicles, Bayonetta 2, ZombiU, and a few others - but none of those were first party. It's time for Nintendo to bring game out for their older audience. I really do think a Metroid game is in development. I'd also argue that while Breath of the Wild is certainly "family-friendly", it definitely had enough depth for adults to enjoy on a higher level as well.

Uh, the bolded are "first party". They were published by Nintendo.
Monolith Soft is also a subsidiary of Nintendo in the same way Retro Studios is, so yes, Xenoblade is 100% first party.
I guess I meant developed by Nintendo directly, a la Metroid.

At least Bandai Namco's starting to get the ball rolling.
I believe Nintendo said they'd let the 3rd parties carry 3DS for a couple months, seems like Switch might be the opposite with Nintendo establishing an exclusive library early on and hoping 3rd parties come in later?
Do hope it doesn't take too long for 3rd parties to start supporting it.

Let me ask this....do you guys honestly believe that Xenoblade will be out this year? I want it to but I'm not sure...

Between the Rabbids RPG and Mario Odyssey I doubt we'll be seeing more than one major Nintendo IP announced for 2017. Just knowing Nintendo I doubt they'd stuff the rest of the year with more than two big entries. Hoping Pokemon Stars gets announced for the fall, and maybe they'll hint at Smash and Metroid for next year.

I think Virtual Console is going to change. I don't think it's going to be the VC we've known since the we. I think it will be rebranded into a new name and I wouldn't be surprised if it's turned into a monthly paid service. Nintendo is a different company now and Kimishima is a business man who clearly likes to get the most money he can. If he thinks a monthly paid model makes more money, then I can see him pushing for it.
It'll be interesting to see what they do with it! My bets are on having the same sales model but a new implementation. Either way I just want them to show their hand at E3. Playing classic games like Zelda and Earthbound on Switch would be heavenly!
ok so first off half of the games on this list are not even released
second this wiiu zelda argument makes 0 sense when we all publicly confirmed know that the switch zelda is a wiiu port
I doubt that. All of Nintendo's first-party Switch games are day-and-date, worldwide. The system is region free and all of their games are identical regardless of region. There's no reason for them to have developed the game without a global release in mind.
That said I'm putting my money on a slight bump from December to January. Wouldn't mind being proven wrong though.
Not gonna lie, I clicked that link thinking we'd have a pre-E3 Direct announcement or something. Hype is getting to me.
If we could survive the NX we probably could survive the end of the world.Jesus, you guys need to relax. E3's 3 weeks away, we can make it.
