From Ellis' newsletter:
Writing season 2 (2018) of CASTLEVANIA while going through animation passes on episode 3 of season 1 (2017) is kind of like those stories where time travel involves sending a consciousness from the future into a body in the past. We've been on this job a long time.
I saw Adi tweet this the other day, so I guess we can consider it in the wild now:

So I'm going to be bad and give you a better look at that logo.

Reviewing environment renders for season 2. We are very deep into this thing.

Yup, Castlevania is one of my favorite series ever. I love almost all the episodes. And I include Lords of Shadow 1 & 2 so come at me :<
It would be great if each season was a new generation. Simon, Richter, Alucard, so much stuff to do. I'm hoping for better female characters than the older games though. It shouldn't be hard. I'd be down for a Shanoa series.

And they'd better not fuck up the music.

Now give the rights for the game to From Software and we're golden.

Yeah that's my dream game. I think if I had the choice between Metroid Prime 4 and a Souls Castlevania, I would go for the latter.
Fuck it give Metroid to From Software too.

I agree with both. The music is vital to any good Castlevania product so I'm curious to see how they will handle that. The Lords of Shadows games imo handled it well with their epic scores that were unique but which also contained hints of older songs. I'd love to see Bloody Tears be used for the intro or during action scenes personally but that would depend on whether they got the rights to the old music as well I guess.

FROM developing a Castlevania game - or a Metroid one - are dream games of mine as well. Next to old Zelda games, I feel both of those must have been of influence on Miyazaki and his team if you go by things like atmosphere, delibarate controls (Castlevania), environmental storytelling, loneliness / isolation (Metroid), epic boss fights, extensive exploration (Metroid + newer Castlevania's). I'd love to see them use either of these IP's for sure.

This is supposedly out this year yet we have seen nothing from it.

No trailer, no concept or character art, no voice actor announcements, nothing.

Shits fucking weird.

netflix tends to just throw stuff at the wall with little to no promotion and see what sticks.

would be nice to get an idea of what to expect from this though.

I am so excited for this show! A Vampire Hunter D-esque art style would be amazing, but yea very curious to see how it looks. I swear, if it looks like flash animation I'll fucking puke.

I'm going to guess a Fall release, October would make sense.

Seriously, I feel like there's a new "Netflix Original" every time I turn it on. I used to be excited for them since they've had some good ones, but I've completely lost track of them now and the quality can vary drastically.

Their goal is to have a new original show going up every week and they now have new stand up specials going up every Tuesday. Add that to all the original movies they are buying and it's a ton of things to promote.

A friend did some voice work dubbing for this cartoon already.

Which means that a trailer is coming soon.

He said it is incredibly desaturated with "better than he-man" artstyle and cheap animation.

That's... not reassuring.

If I were a voice actor working on Castlevania, I'd want to dub the whip.

So it won't be cg then.

Also, just because the animation might be cheap doesn't mean it can't be good. Jojo's first seasons were powerpoints but they were still great, especially Battle Tendency.

That looks... surprisingly good. And I haven't followed this exactly, but isn't that
Trevor, Alucard, Sypha and Grant
? HYPE!!!

That is a lot better than I was expecting. And it has Warren Ellis.

Holy shit. This....might actually be really good.

That's dope. I'll watch it because I am the Castlevania. I hope it reinvigorates potential interest in real Castlevania games for a new generation.
