Xbox Game Pass - Includes over 100 Games at Launch, 14 Day Trial (Live Now)

Wish there was a streaming option as well, there are a few games on the list that I'm interested in but I don't want to download a game that i'll shelve in less hours than it took to download it.

A rather inispired list. Might try out the free trial to pick off a couple games but I can see wanting to be on subscription any more than a month.

This is completely worthless to me if they don't ever intend to bring it to PC. I know the Win10 library isn't there yet but I'm surprised to see such a definitive "only on Xbox, period" bullet point. You'd think they would add something like "for the time being" there if they had any real intention of bringing this to PC players.

This most likely rules out any chance of 360 BC on PC too.

They do. The initial reveal said Xbox and PC and later was redacted and Phil said the plan is to bring to pc but there's not enough content in the store for it to make sense yet.

Edit: And play anywhere titles will work on pc right away.

Kinda feel like this should be $5 a month or part of Gold already.

I mean, you people need reasonable expectations

Some of you guys convinced yourself that every new game would launch on this service. That was obviously never going to be the case. This seems to be a reasonable deal for what you're paying. This is much more content than you'd get with Gold or PS+, yet you expect the price to be the same?

Pretty varied list of good titles. I own more than half of these games and they're all sitting in my backlog still so not worth it for me.

Would have liked to see an annual pass for a discounted price.

I mean for $10 bucks it's a good selection of titles especially for people who've never touched the Xbox ecosystem before. Hell Gears 2 is in there and that's easily worth $10 bucks to play. I think it would be smart of them to include a voucher for this with every Xbox sold.

Wait so I can sub to this without an Xbox One and just play whatever XPA games they throw in?

Good starting list, some games i considered buying in recent sales, glad i held off. Also some good variety for adults and kids.

Will definitely give it a shot , could be a gamechanger .

Is the trial already activated?

Yes it is.

If you're a gold member, you can activate it now.

Wait, I'm confused. Is this automatically activated for all Gold users already (so all Gold members currently have free access until June 7th), or can we still wait to activate our trial?

I know I'd like to hold off using my trial until mid-June because I won't have access to my Xbox for two weeks at the beginning of June. But the email I received from XBL stated: "Download more than 100 games from every genre ever and play them in full fidelity. So get in there and start gaming, my friend. Your trial has begun."

You have to go to it in the store, make sure the 14 day free trial option is selected, and manually activate it.

The only question (with regards to your idea of holding it for later) is whether that free trial for gold members offer is permanent, or a time-limited thing ahead of the full launch.

No, it should be free. And they should throw in a free laundry service with pickup and delivery.

Playing through Brothers for the first time right now thanks to this (ya I'm late to that party)

Also have Kyub and Shantae downloading

Shantae is sooo good, just spent a few hours playing that. I'll try Farming Sim next.

Besides the game lineup, which will always be changing, how does everyone feel about the core idea of the service? Personally for $10 a month I don't think that's bad. I think this is great not only for playing games you were interested but wouldn't normally buy. But also for releasing episodic and/or original content. Hopefully Microsoft use the full potential of this program and don't sell it short.

Ppl saying they have every game on the list then the service is probably not for you. Honestly for what you get I think it's worth it in general. 100 games for 10 a month seems like a good deal.

Honestly for anyone already heavily invested in the Xbox ecosystem it's probably not worth it atm, but if you are just buying an Xbox and out of the box you can get a 100 games for 10 bucks, that's a hell of a deal. Hopefully they do rotate the list and if it's succcessful, maybe they'll even expand it.

This will probably pull me back from ps4 to xbox for awhile tbh. Just last week i was looking at ps4 digital sales and bought mad max for 20 AUD.

For that price i could get 2 months on this service, finish mad max, play lots of other games i was interested in the sale (Blood Bowl / DMC) , and even replay games i have played and since traded (HALO 5).

So yeh fantastic deal for me

This pretty much.

I've played through all the titles that I've really wanted to play, but damn if I was new to Xbox or even Xbox1 you get great value

I mean the combo of Halo, Gears and Sunset Overdrive is pretty damn good by themselves

The people complaining about the selection are either: never going to subscribe anyway, or have no idea how businesses work expecting new games to launch here.

Imo they should give us 10 bucks. I mean, look at that list. Who wants to play games like Halo 5 oder the Gears 1 remaster?

@ topic

My used copy of Halo 5 never worked so I think I subscribe 1 month. To make it worth I will also play the gears ultimate and this Max game.

Seems like a good selection overall for the majority of people. They can sell this to a lot of families out there who already have a Netflix account as basically "here's 100 games for your kids to play".

Our XBox One is basically just a Netflix/Plex machine and the gaming console for the kids. The PS4 is in my office and where everything new gets played.

I'd probably drop 60 bucks on this without question if they offered a "yearly sub discount" like EA Access does.

Xbox game pass, ea access, and soon to becoming other companies (totally surprised Ubisoft hasn't done this yet) are actually something I would totally subscribe to. These would actually help me out from increasing my backlog!

But one glaring problem for me, and I'm guessing a few others is....data caps! If Microsoft really wanted to get as many people subscribing to this, and the other ones out there, they (ms, ea, et al) should be lobbying against cable companies who impose these data caps. Seriously, in my area, I have no other options for internet without data caps.

Between these game services, Netflix streaming, 4K streaming, and all other streaming services out there, we need more flexibility. Cable companies refuse to loosen their grip on the data amounts they allow us to have. Sure, I could pay more to increase the size of my data cap, but that's not in my budget! So for now, even though I am the type of consumer who would use these services, the answer is no for now.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Lineup looks good for new Xbox owners. Doesn't look worth it for me, or probably many who have had their XB1 a while, at the moment.

Is it just me or does the 360 list include a lot of titles that were part of the big BC sale last week? I feel like I just bought a dozen of those games

I just beat Brothers in one sitting, such a great game that I almost missed out on. They've got my money for sure

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/xbox-game-pass-could-get-its-own-exclusive-games/

”I think there's an opportunity here for this to not just be about games that have already shipped," Xbox boss Phil Spencer said on a recent podcast with Major Nelson (via Shacknews). ”I'd actually like to see this grow to a program that you can see frontline games, first shipped games, come into Xbox Game Pass as something, as a way that they get distributed.

Seems to me that people haven't kept up with it as much as some of us that are disappointed in it a bit. I am not saying it's a bad deal just isn't what Phil talked it up as so far.

I have been fairly fair saying I'd need to wait a year to see how many games, what games and how much time frame there is between release and adding to the service... but people read into small tidbits and comment on even smaller ideas than actually getting the whole picture from posters. Mr. business man.

I'd also like to see what they do take off since Phil was saying they really don't want to get into situations where they ever need to take titles off (although he did say he is sure it will happen at times) but I think if they want to build trust in more people such as myself they really need to make it where no titles ever come off imo

You're paying less than ten cents a game. That's just plain stupid.

But as I was saying before the service isn't about playing every game on it. Some folks will likely sub, play a few games here and there but still stick to halo or some other mp shooter (if they are on the service)

I don't think MS is doing this service to worry about making money on games or worrying about losing money on game sales.

They are trying to figure out how to get as many subscribers as possible while incorporating micro transactions into their games that can make as much or more money than selling the game.

It doesn't matter if they give most players 100 or 500 titles as most people aren't even going to finish 100 games per year. I hope that makes sense and they likely have hard statistics that cover this.

When you consider what attach rates usually are (which in my mind are 4 to 6) 6 being on the very high end as far as I remember... then gaining 10 bucks every month from as many users as possible is actually a lot more than what the attach rate ratio gives us

If anyone has any data on what I said, it would be interesting to see as I haven't see attach rates in a long time I feel.

Yeah, I and many people here have 1,000s of games but if the attach rate ratios are anything to go by then the majority of gamers barely buy more than 10 games the entire life cycle of a system.

From what I have ever known of MS, they never create something with the idea of just getting a few million subscribers, their goals is always to have the nearest amount to every box being subscription based. They may have cut back on this but we all likely remember MS wanting the xbox brand to be the tv box of the future and the reason they started it. They saw their pc install base and wanted to be that go to box for games, tv etc with the xbox. The famous line that went something like first we go after hardcore, the the casual, your parents and then your grand parents.

I don't doubt that MS still has some of that mentality even if they actually dialed it down a bit, but that was only after the failure of one and Kinect, but I feel they were still pushing that mind set just 4 years ago.

I do not know what they have in mind or what they want with the xbox brand and how much market share they wand and in what fashion but I never imagine it to be very low at least.

This right here could become a major deterrent for people trying games and potentially giving up on the service.

Netflix and other streaming options give you instant reward for your curiosity. See something interesting? Watch a few minutes to see if you like it and all of a sudden you are binge watching.. or drop it and move onto the next thing.

There should be a streaming front end that allows you to download if you like it to play in better quality. I say this as someone that tried PSNow and hated it, but if there was a good library and option to download for better play it would be much more interesting.

Yeah this, $120 annually is way too much when most of these are heavily discounted already or a lot of people already own them.

If there's a few games you really want here an there off this list you're probably better off just buying them.

Should be priced more like EA access at like $25-50 a year or just throw it in with Gold.

Can you play 100 games in a month? Do you not already have some of these games? Do you actually even want to play all of these games?

It's over priced imo.

You have to think about the annual price, not monthly imo. I can buy Halo (which I already have anyway) and most of the other stuff I'm actually in interested in for way less than $120.

I don't really like looking at it that way. It's not ACTUALLY 100 games for 10 bucks because who can play 100 games in a month? It's $10 per month. Realistically it would take people at least a year? Probably a lot longer. So $120 at minimum. Still arguably a good deal if you're into all those games. But most of them don't do anything for me.

I'm sure they'll shake it out when they get their metrics together to see who are download and playing what.

I'm guessing theirs a pot of sub money that is distributed to games from time played?
