Kinda Funny Games: The Final PS I Love You XOXO

Here's an example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ColinsLast...hink_colins_current_eventspolitical_analysis/

One of his fans gives a long treatise on some disappointments he has with Colin's recent output, and Colin's reply, while not fully hateful, makes sure to point out "oh you've ignored all the GOOD stuff" and then just kind of gives up. His response to being accused of being lazy is to...be lazy. If he's defended this stuff before, link it. If he's written a better reply he isn't happy with, try again!

His response isn't "I'll think about this and try to be better." It's "Everyone has opinions." Which is such a backhanded whiff of a reply.

Colin's joke was:

-Trash, the most bottom-level kind of humor with no cleverness, creativity, or nuance
-Misogynistic. Not the MOST misogynistic, but the premise of the joke is that 'life is more enjoyable without all these loud women around'. That's fucked up.
-Intentionally timed on a day when many of his peers were CELEBRATING the women in their lives or workplaces

Also worth pointing out: When people expressed their disappointment, Colin did the following:

-Call them humorless shitheads
-Use his girlfriend as a joke shield
-Quit his job
-Leave the city
-Allow his followers to shit all over his former "friends", coworkers and company, doing nothing to discourage their behavior even though many people pointed it out to him
-Didn't congratulate his friend or go to his wedding
-FRAMED THE FUCKING TWEET.
-Started a new endeavor, where people give him cash for videos with less nuance, experience, knowledge, insight or production values compared to many others out there doing the same thing
-Responded to people criticizing him by making shit up about their personal lives ("Oh that guy is just after me because he has terrible terrible depression, his friend told me so", and "oh don't talk shit about my job, you haven't had a job in five years")

Colin Moriarty is a hack, and a nightmare person. Absorbing and responding maturely to criticism isn't fucking rocket science, and he can't even do that shit consistently.

No lies detected.

On topic, I can't wait too see what new show comes from this. I have been enjoying KF again and want to see more shows.

Dunno his joke was really effective.

It was harmless and common sitcom joke how women can be annoying and yet after hundreds of pages and multiple threads people still cant stop talk about it.

Basically sums it up. However, thanks to the internet, and sites like Paetreon, never before has it been easier to convert being a hack and generally shitty person into cold, hard cash.

Feel free to post something about the episode then instead of just complaining to complain. Here, I'll start for you:

Did anyone else find it interesting that companies can "petition" Sony for more trophies to be allowed in their game? Also I wonder where Rocket League would have charted on NPD had Psyonix been a subscriber. It likely would have beat out some AAA games in certain months on various platforms. Would definitely be an interesting "what if" scenario.

I've tried before in the past, it goes nowhere. Your post, and the replies that are all well-meaning, are swallowed up by pages and pages of text that have nothing to do with what Greg and Jeremy talked about. I mean, I can try again but I don't see it having any affect on this thread.

I looked up the Pandamusk cartoon of Goldfarb eating an apple during the Beyond days. That made me start watching a ton of Panda's stuff, that guy's very talented.

Goldfarb - Apple Fragments

After more than a century, people can't stop talking about that whole Civil War!

The joke was definitely 'common', and I'm not saying that the joke became sentient, traveled through the internet and then turned off someone's heart monitor, killing them.

In that sense, it didn't do physical harm. But Colin has tens of thousands of followers who clearly look to him as a sort of role model, a voice worth listening to, emulating and sharing. When someone like that makes a joke, it becomes a lot less harmless. If even a single person starts making more jokes out loud that bum out the women around them, then it's a fucking problem.

That reply is disappointing and arrogant, but I rarely ever see this from Colin. You're overlooking all the times in the YT comments he has taken into criticism and fixed things that people didn't like with CLS.

Just yesterday he called someone a "dullard" for defending the Confederacy and then apologized for the aggression. But hey who cares about that I guess...

Don't flatter him. We have hundreds of pages of Switch game taste-tests and comparing console performance to Dragonball characters. A pretty lazy attempt at "#Actually, it was effective."

Did you even read what you quoted?

Yes i quoted how the joke is supposed to be shit by the joke police.

All these factors are used by comedians all the time. There are a lot of standups that make fun of men and women and yet there isnt this much of a backlash.

The concept of "loud women" isnt new in comedy.

At the end of the day it got big because people wanted it to big and thats the truth.

That's good! He should try doing that all the time. The McElroys prove it can be done. If people are giving him 30K plus a month, we should hold him to a higher standard of behavior.

Hardly ever really? I see it all the time, I mean good he had one decent comment out of a 100 but when most of his comments are arrogant, flat out wrong and full of wrong information that's more on him than anything.

I wish he would do it all the time but I just have yet to see it.

It seems like you refuse to see the point, It wasn't a good joke and considering the timing of the joke made it even worst.

Someone must have missed when Colin asked GAF to take the time to write well-thought criticism, blatantly ignored it, then left GAF for good.

I miss the days when the most people had on Colin was that he said he didn't like the Simpsons and El Shaddai.

See, that's my biggest takeaway from this whole...debacle. I really do miss the old Beyond. Not necessarily the show, not the fact that it was IGN, etc. etc. - just the conversation between him, Greg, and whoever the third (and/or fourth) person was at the time. Whether Colin was just more reserved with his opinions back then or was just all-around a nicer, less jaded guy, somewhere along the lines he went from funny-grumpy to unfunny-grumpy. He stopped coming across as the joyful curmudgeon and starting coming across as an asshole.

He's not a comedian. He wasn't doing stand up. He was trying to appeal to his base of insecure, young white males who were angered by all the positive coverage of women in videogames on that particular day.

I don't think that's definitely what he was going for. I think he made a stupid sitcom dad joke and thought he was clever. He's an idiot.

edit- I really think if a well known comedian tweeted that it would've been nothing.

You are really dense. Did you pay attention to the fact that he posted that tweet in fucking International Women's Day?

In the International Women's Day. nope.

I think you and many people of Detective Gaf overthink this.

Indeed. He is just a fucking asshole and despicable human being.

He couldn't have thought it was that harmless if mere minutes afterwards he called people who'd think it's unfunny "humourless sacks of shit".

Historian and incisive political thought leader incapable of considering "harmless sitcom joke" on day celebrating women in the face of pervasive, systemic sexism and historic economic, political, and social marginalization. Sounds legit.

The plus side of all this Colin talk is that people aren't bitching about Tim anymore. He does talk about Crash a lot, but his enthusiasm is the only thing making the Gamescast bearable anymore.

Also if I was in his position I would never shut the fuck up about RE4. People need to know.

Not sure I agree with that. Seems like he seemed a pretty significant backlash and got overly defensive about the backlash assuming people would understand he wasn't being seroius, it was just the lowest common denominator there is in terms of humor

Not to mention a month and a half after someone who admitted to sexual assault on tape became President.

It truly is a mystery as to why this International Women's Day would be more significant than usual.

So what you are saying is that the big example of Colin, a person being discussed over how unapologetically shitty his is to other people, not being that guy is him apologizing to somebody defending the Confederacy because he called them a slightly mean name.

Wait, Colin didn't go to the wedding? Fucking hell.

It's been refreshing now that he isn't visible since he can just stick to his shitty fans safe space.

So I dove deep into this today and I really kind of side will Colin on this. First, I want to say I am not sexist or swing hard to the left or right. I have my own opinions. I also get why Greg and Kinda Funny did separate themselves from Colin because the gaming industry and fans as a whole do get offended over stuff like this. So, they had to do what they did and Colin expresses that and understands. I did think it was pretty funny he edited the letter Greg put out there as well. I for one like Moriarty and his tweet was a joke. I know why people got offended but that comes with everything. I wish him the best success in his new endeavors doing what he wants to do. I also wish continual success to Kinda Funny as well.

I don't doubt you are, but starting out by saying your not sexist is...odd, just say what you want to say.

Every colin thread.

1."Tweet wasn't sexist/wasn't that bad. I don't get why people flipped out."
2. "it wasn't just the tweet it was the context of the day and everything leading up to it."
3. "LOL OVERSENSITIVE PEOPLE"
4. "Tweet wasn't sexist/wasn't that bad. I don't get why people flipped out."

I never really got the impression that the main problem at the time was the joke itself. Yeah, it was poorly timed and unoriginal and not very funny, but people would have forgiven him had he asked for it. The problem was his response to the backlash. How he went on podcasts and shows with alt-right figures. How he couldn't just take an L, say "my bad" and apologize. How he used the responses to his joke to drum up favour among the deplorables so they could fund his shitty little patreon.

So have you checked to see if any well known comedians tweeted that? It would have been nothing and they love making those jokes supposedly, so I'm sure there were loads on International Women's Day.

He was just doing what he thought a common and harmless sitcom joke in that moment what he also said multiple times.

Lol you've completely missed the point of nearly all the sitcom jokes that are like this if you think it's the sexist joke that people laugh at. It's usually when the woman throws it back on the man making that joke or some form of irony where the person making it is actually the loud and obnoxious one that's funny.

So yes, if Colin was trying to portray himself as loud and obnoxious, then well he succeeded.

Colin's joke wasn't funny but it really wasn't the least bit offensive. He's not a misogynist just because he made a shitty dad joke.

I do agree that his behaviour and response to it has been pretty shitty though. Lost all interest and respect for the man.

THE BACKLASH HADN'T HAPPENED AT THAT POINT.

If you're getting defensive over yet-to-exist responses to something you said or did, then you know you did something offensive or stupid.

Shitty dad jokes are made by dads to their wives that they've been married to for years and years and have children with; women who they obviously love. They're made in the privacy of their own home as a tease. Those same dads also get play-insults back from their wives about being lazy beer drinker or cavemen or whatever. You know what those dads saying shitty dad jokes don't do? They don't call their wives "humorless sacks of shit" when their wives throw a teasing insult back.

Dads don't go on twitter and make shitty dad jokes about their wives to their thousands of angsty, white, alt-right kid and manchild fans on International Women's Day.

Like can all of you guys saying stuff like this really not get the difference? Or just refuse to understand?

Someone should do a deep dive on this and post it on GAF with the thread title:

"The Assassination of Greg Miller by the Coward Colin Moriarty"

Go into the wedding stuff, the letter, Colin's strange comments on shows like Rubin, his lack of reigning in his own shitty fanbase as they went after his former friends

Well, now that you've weighed in, all this looks a little silly. A lot of people thought a lazy joke playing to negative stereotypes about women on a day celebrating them in a country that marginalizes them in every domain was a thing that, at the very least, perpetuates an attitude that it's okay to parrot shit about women, but I guess not.

Haha.

Yeah I really don't get it. On International Women's Day I told my wife that even if it might seem like I take her for granted often, that I appreciate her being with me every single day. There's 364 other days in the year to joke around, tease and prod each other.

But nah I guess with other people, why not 365 days right? I mean it's so hard to say something nice and genuine for one day, even if that one day is set out for that particular purpose - to support, appreciate, and celebrate women.
