WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (June 1, 2017) — Legend calls them the Ravenii, encroaching armies of bloodthirsty monsters that once threatened to destroy humankind. Now, the threat has returned. Iron Galaxy and Maximum Games are proud to announce their thrilling, fast-paced action game – Extinction.

As far back as anyone can remember, humanity has been at war with itself. For generations, kingdoms have fought amongst themselves while the real threat loomed in the distance. Only those trained in the ways of the ancient order stand a chance at defeating the 150-foot-tall ogres and the armies that trail in their wake. You are one of the world's last Sentinels, a soldier named Avil, equipped with the skills to battle the endless waves of Ravenii

In Extinction, you'll fight massive ogres and their minions across a sprawling countryside, defending cities and rescuing native villagers torn from their homes. Swiftly define your strategy as hordes attack from the ground and air. Use the dynamic skill-based combat system to tactically disarm and dismember enemies before going in for the kill.

”Extinction is absolutely relentless," said Kraig Kujawa, Game Director at Iron Galaxy. ”We're really happy with the fast, fluid feel of the game and we're looking forward to showing it behind closed doors at E3."

”As the protagonist tasked with a huge undertaking - both in fighting enormous ogres and saving humans from disaster - each player's experience will be varied, as the landscapes and battle situations are never identical," said Derek Neal, Executive Producer at Maximum Games.

Getting a mix of early Gameloft mobile God of War clones and Attack on Titan vibes here.

There should be more tampons in gaming
Looks interesting. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for it during E3.

With that name I expected some sort of generic scifi shooter.

The game looks interesting, definitely inspired by Attack on Titan.

Will keep an eye on it.

Looks very generic all around, the press release is also full of buzzwords that ultimately mean absolutely nothing.

The trailer itself wasn't very well done either with a rather boring looking protagonist and the most basic of all basic fantasy enemy designs. This game instantly makes me think it'll be just another run of the mill action game that generally gets a 7 or lower from most review outlets if they bother to review it at all. Gameplay trailer could save it but judging by what they say in the PR and the trailer I am not even slightly optimistic.

Also for the love of god would people learn that narration over a trailer is exceptionally hard to do well and ends up distracting from what the visuals are trying to do or can bring the momentum of a trailer down with cheesy dialog like in this one.

Not trying to be mean, just not impressed.

This might be a bit harsh but the name and trailer are awfully generic. And I'm not crazy about the art direction. But Iron Galaxy are good people so I hope this is great.

This thread's title is a prime example of why I don't like "title case" in English. I thought at first Iron Galaxy announced a fourth wall breaker called "Action Game Extinction". Oh well.

Assassin's God of Titan? It could be pretty fun in theory, depends on how much of the cinematic trailer is BS or representative of gameplay.

In for Iron Galaxy.

Seems sort of like a Attack on Titan / Orcs Must Die setup, except with maybe more character action type gameplay (given Iron Galaxy's fighting game background)

Huh, that would be interesting. AC style traversal, dropping traps and securing defences etc. Would make for a fun co-op game too.
