Pokemon Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun for Nintendo 3DS

So the Eurogamer rumour just after the release of Pokemon Sun/Moon was fake? Why they ever did that I will never know.

Why did you guys believe in this. I kept saying yesterday that Nintendo would not allow a full fledged Pokémon announce on the switch, when E3 was around the corner anyway. Ppl kept saying I was wrong

People thinking it would be for Switch are crazy. I am convinced that Eurogamer just fabricates news stories without evidence.

at last, for christ's sake
Nintendo probably thought there wasn't any chance of manifacturing enough Switch units in time for a Pokémon game, lol

I didn't think anything this entertaining would come out of the direct.

So is this a sequel? Cause I'd be down for that.

I think that kills off the notion entirely that Nintendo sees the Switch as a 3DS successor. We'll have a new handheld in a couple of years and the next Pokemon will be on that. The Switch is their Wii U successor, not a hybrid.

So the 3DS isn't the DS Successor? Because this is literally the same thing that happened with B2W2. Also, people need to realize the Pokemon Company operates separately from Nintendo

Yeah, I can't say I was surprised by this. Game Freak have waited an average of two years plus (earliest time was roughly 18 months for Ruby & Sapphire) to release Pokémon games on a new system.

I'm not even mad. The games look dope, and they didn't waste DPP remakes on the 3DS. We can also expect the first Switch mainline game to be fucking epic also, not held back by the 3DS. Maybe next year, but surely in 2019.

AND I get to update my avatar :p

Um...why is this so shocking? This isn't CALLED Pokemon Stars and it implies that it's more of a slightly 'expanded' version of Sun/Moon then anything else. And the Switch IS getting a Pokemon game in the form of Pokken Deluxe.

I'm sure the Switch will get a RPG Pokemon at some point but we didn't see Pokemon jump to the DS the moment that came out, same with Black & White 2 releasing on the DS when the 3DS was out and about.

Game Freak is weird sometimes, so we should know this by now.

Fuck you gamefreak i will skip both.
What a bad showing mentioning Switch and then reveals port of a fighting game...

Fuck you!

I wonder if there is still hope for Stars, inasmuch as Nintendo could be throwing an Ultra bone to 3DS owners whilst giving Stars to Switch players....

I'm actually not surprised. Remember what happened with the B/W games on DS?

So is this a sequel like B/W 2 or a Yellow-esque take on S/M?

I'm surprised simply because the difference here is that 3DS could play those new DS games. But yeah, it's not clear to me either if it's a sequel or enhanced-type game.

So UltraS&M is bringing 3D back?

Not that I care much, but I hope they improved performance because some areas of S&M lagged like hell even without 3D.

I mean it's just like Sun and Moon. You could use 3D for photos.

It's nice to see that 3ds continues to be the biggest competition for Switch. I guess Super Mario Odyssey will launch on November 17th too to make things perfect.

Legit sources can get shit wrong, ya know. There is a sequel to Sun and Moon coming out and there is also a "Pokemon" game coming to Switch. Rumors needn't always be 100% accurate. That's what makes them fun.

I don't like how they just revealed the logos, that awful snippet reel and then nothing more. But we get 5 minutes of live action Pokken.

Slightly frustrating, but not unsurprising. Guess this means they're maintaining the dual sequel model they established with Black 2/White 2.

Also gonna put this out there: I bet this is going to take place in the source universe for the Ultra Beasts. They have been leaning on the alternate universe stuff more and more for a while now.

Is there a good explanation why they would be re-releasing these on the platform it's already available on? I understand the install base on 3DS, and there are more changes (not just a simple re-release), but maaaaan. This feels like a missed opportunity re: the Switch and a fresh-but-friendly market. Instead of feeling like something new, they manage to make it feel redundant or lazy (deserved or not).

Edit: Has it really been less than a year since the original release?

Didnt buy the original sun and moon and wont buy the ultra sun and moon. I need a version for switch with less text, more fighting and higher difficulty

I'm trash and never finished Sun even though I was hyped for it and really enjoyed it cause other games came out. So the idea of a sequel is kinda good, since that's incentive to finish but...

On 3DS still? I mean, I still play original DS games that are new to me, it's not like it being on the 3DS is inherently bad, but it's disappointing for it not to be on the Switch now. (Though I wonder if I'd feel this as much if I didn't expect Stars...)

EDIT: Actually, I just remembered how much the original had issues running on my launch day 3DS; that's only going to get worse, isn't it?

Very disappointed, both in GameFreak for playing it as safe as possble, and in Eurogamer for totally missing the mark.

I've moved on from 3DS so I'll skip this, but I hope bigger fans of the franchise gets a game they enjoy!

Everyone's acting like this is a bait and switch
(no pun intended)
. At what point did Game Freak come out and say, "We're developing a title for the Switch, stay tuned for details" because I surely missed that announcement.

Haha. I actually skipped Sun/Moon because of the Eurogamer report. Now I really don't want to play much more 3DS so I guess I'm skipping this Pokemon generation.

Why the fuck do I even buy the first run of pokemon games anymore when this lazy ass trash comes a year later

I can't believe anyone was expecting a Switch game.

I'm gonna buy it because I didn't toss my 3DS into a volcano when I bought a Switch.

This was obviously going to happen after gamefreaks "Switch isn't a real portable so it's impossible to make a Pokémon RPG for it. Maybe pokken instead" comments they made several months ago.

I don't get them or their bizarre logic at all. But I'm not even convinced this will be the last 3DS Pokémon RPG.
