I still think it will be $499.

Compared to PS4 Pro you get the following
+4 GB extra GDDR5
+4K BRD
+~29% higher clock speeds which will require more advanced cooling
+11% more CUs
+~10% higher CPU clock
+more powerful components require a bigger PSU

I don't see how they can offer all this at the same $399.
Easy.
The Pro was released a year ago at $399.

I certainly wouldn't call it smooth. The game has been delayed, plus the "multiplayer experience" that was supposed to come last summer never materialized. It was pretty clear at that point that they were pivoting to Scorpio. Also, the recent Shinobi tweet confirms it hasn't been smooth. Again, probably some of that is from changing systems (One to Scorpio; but it can still run on the XB1).

It was probably announced too early -- as MS was lacking games at the time -- and it's clearly had some trouble getting going. I mean, think about it: we haven't really seen "official" footage for it. There have just been closed-doors demos of the tech, and then there was off-screen dev footage at Gamescom two years ago (with a tiny bit of multiplayer footage at the end). It's all been very limited, which shows they're not exactly confident to show it in public. Hopefully that has changed for this year's E3. It would be nice to feel good about the MP, which seems like it could be great, and the SP, which is a complete mystery.

Without any specifics, it seems like a lengthy process is to be expected when the game is being developed in conjunction with an engine with unprecedented ambitions.

I'm not sure if taking the time to overcome such a hurdle is indicitive of a game that won't review well.

Had no idea you could configure bombs in specific configurations in the new crackdown to produce different results. Very cool.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_va-A4eSxH4

Nice explosion effect, good movement of the character

Missed some crackdown media. I wasn't too convinced by the previous crackdown games, but with scorpio coming out and with some of what I'm learning recently, I might just give it a chance.

The first game was legit masterful. But you could see how they could build on the idea of that. The second game is good but it didn't have that blue sky gaming feel of the first game.

The Zombies were so boring to fight after a while.

What I really enjoyed about the second game was the wing suit and helicopter.

How is shitposting like this still allowed?

You've got to be shitting me. How is that shitposting? I'm as big an xbox fan as it gets on here, but as I've always said, I never thought the original crackdown was as amazing as everyone was making it out to seem. Thought it had great ideas with potential to be a whole lot more, but until i saw what direction they would take the new game in, I naturally remained highly skeptical that it would be as awesome as people were suggesting. So now with E3 around the corner, I'm just hopeful that it has a really good showing and it has improved dramatically over the previous games.

For me I thought there would be more narrative direction and a better mission structure. I don't expect it to be telling this ultra serious story or anything, but I just wanted a little more from the foundation they had. I hope this game makes good on all that.

Lol...right? You shit-posting in an Xbox thread, ha, ha. I was going to say something to that guy when I saw his post, but I figured you'd take care of it.

I thought he was joking. Maybe not though.

I think he was pissed because someone said he was shit posted early today. I just assumed it was you?

Its because you didnt refer to as the second coming of christ and that it will make all games before it irrelevant. Seriously though Crackdown is a great idea thats had a rough growing pain, it is a little strange to think how its now positioned to be the tip of the spear for Scorpio. Originally jokingly being called the game that came free with that Halo demo, now it is essentially put in a spot similar to Halo and needs to wow at E3.

That's actually the ONLY reason I bought the first crackdown, which is funny because I don't even play Halo MP LOL. But just somehow I had to have it, and didn't want to be left out. I use to jokingly say I bought the Halo 3 MP beta, and it came with Crackdown. :)

The first game for me was just a little too "okay, just go do your thing." I wanted more direction. Enemies didn't feel too unique or fun to fight. I was initially amazed by the feeling of it all and seeing the incredible super powers and explosions, but after a while I felt like there wasn't really much of interest to me in the world once I got past the cool factor of how high I could jump, transforming vehicles etc. So I just want to be amazed with how the game has come along. It's crazy though, I may end up getting a Crackdown game once again, and not necessarily because it's may be my cup of tea, but simply due to my excitement over scorpio and believing it would be a nice showcase for the new system.

When I was trying to hunt down the last few agility orbs, I was seeing them in my dreams. I was so addicted to the first game. I never could get in to the second.

Today you can offer an opinion, but if it is not what people want to hear then they want to shut you down. It is the world we live in PR shite.

As much as I want to enjoy Sundays live stream, if whole thing leaked tomorrow I'm not sure I could resist.

Damn my weakness.

In other news I would love a Fable 4 announcement. Hadn't realized that's what I needed but I do.

8GB for games. The additional 4 is split between 3GB for OS and 1GB apparently for a more advanced 4k dashboard? I would need to check again to be certain.

All they said that they upped the RAM of the OS to 4gb so it can be in 4k and 4k content in the dashboard. The remaining 8gb of RAM is solely for games which is pretty damn impressive. Most PC GPU's in the mid-tier are 4-6gb of RAM with higher end GPU's at 8-12gb of RAM. Scorpio having 8gb is going to have an impact that will be really good.

I just saw this posted on the Xbox One subreddit.

MS has only so far referred to Augmented Reality ( Hololens) and Mixed Reality (AR/VR). Could this be something new? According to Gamespot The trademark covers "computer game software," and more interestingly, "computer software for holographic applications." Additionally, it covers "online computer game software," including holographic applications.

Lmao, a few pages back someone said the exact same thing to Doffen (and it made no sense either)

Pretty sure he's being a sarcastic Tier 3 troll yet again. Get used to it Senju :)

The link is broken, but that's probably just a neologism. I'm betting it falls under the category of AR/MR.

Could be a new API component in their direct x sdk.
Like you have:
Direct3d for graphics
DirectCompute for computing
DirectReality for mixed reality

With all the Mixer hype, I'd watch it on Mixer cause you know Microsoft is going to make sure that stream is incredible. And that will be at 4K.

I hope so. That is my biggest worry is that 4k stream will die/chug. I hope it is crystal clear because this is the E3 that they need to really show Scorpio and what it can do.

I don't joke about Crackdown.

Nah, just a friendly dig. I assumed SenjutsuSage knew me well enough since we both were very active back in the early days of Xbox One.

lol believe it or not I didn't even look at the username, I just saw the post and responded. We're all good.

SenjutsuSage with the drive-by trolling in Xbox threads. SMH.

Go back to Sonykagure.

lol so hardcore I'm going to troll the xbox press briefing in person. :p

Should've delayed my response to the second quarter of 2018. :)

I know Microsoft need to "Show me the Games" at E3 but I reeeaaaaalllllyy hope they don't come out on stage and announce a bunch of money hats.

I know it's unlikely they have secret studios opened up(especially with the recent closures) working on new content but maybe some of their bigger devs have had a second team added on the sly.

The term money hat is stupid. This is business. If capcom agrees to a deal and gets funding there's nothing wrong with that. Games don't only have to come from internal studios

I'm wondering if Sea of Thieves rather Crackdown 3 would be the game they launch alongside it. SoT and the Scorpio itself I believe are the only two things Microsoft that are a part of the E3 Coliseum event. And between last year's E3, this E3, and all of the technical Alpha's since December, they've been pushing really hard to keep it in the limelight. Plus it's a beautiful game to look at it. Imagine that ocean in glorious 4K on the Scorpio?

Man, is it me can you feel the heat of E3 burning through NeoGAF like a blazing flame...
First, I admit to having been uninterested in what MS has to offer, but the last few rumors and the confidence at display have reignited my curiosity...

Please be good!!!

I'm not so sure SoT will launch with Scorpio, if we even get a "full" release this year. I personally think they might put it in Game Preview later this year "and continue to grow the game" or something. I just don't see it being ready, but I would love to be wrong! I would say Crackdown 3 is (hopefully) a more likely candidate. :D

Yeah, that would be the obvious assumption. They also trademarked "DirectPhysics" earlier this year [edit: actually, looking more closely at the dates, the initial filing was September last year] (presumably a DirectX physics API, possibly based on Havok since they acquired them a while back), but haven't made any official announcements regarding that yet.

I wouldn't expect to hear anything about either at E3, though. If it was going to be announced on a stage somewhere, it'd be at a developer-focused event like GDC or Build, not at a consumer/business show like E3.

I'm all for games getting made that otherwise wouldn't in partnership with 3rd parties.

I'm talking Rise of Tomb Raider type stuff.

A hypothetical example would be Bethesdas next big game.

Easy.
The Pro was released a year ago at $399.
I think sony enjoys greater economies of scale by having certain parts in both the pro and the slim. For example, Sony buys the same GDDR memory chips for the 18M consoles they expect to sell this year.

I want on the hype train. This years E3 is great because the day after the show I'm turning 30. Lol yeah totally trying to get attention....
