This will end up in disapointment, as has been with Nintendo E3 for years. Hell we even got a peek preview on that Pokemon direct.

Will never understand the way Nintendo handles reveals. Only Zelda was revealed long before launch Look at things like God of War or RDR2, they create expectation and the sense of a good future for the platform.
The thing to me is...you can chart a middle ground.

Nintendo clearly will have games January through June next year. Some of those could probably handle an up to a year hype cycle.

But still, the fear plaguing a lot of us is that Nintendo is going to hold too much of that too close to the chest.

Sure, they'll still exist either way and they'll still be announced but I just can't not believe Nintendo could say something about a good number of them. And if they did, maybe they'd have a good E3 without resorting to far flung games. (Although some of those games currently targeting that time period will perhaps be delayed).

And...maybe they will but again with Nintendo I can't simply expect them too.

It saddens me that even the optimistic people aren't expecting anything from third parties.:(

They had the From Software logo during the January presentation. Would be great to know more about it. Weren't there rumors of DSIII runing on switch ? Best case, they ported the game engine and are working on some new title.

You know, Nintendo can fuck up this E3 all they want (they likely will). But the fact remaims that by the end of the year, they will have released two if not three GotY contenders, only playable on Switch. This is a good year for Nintendo fans, regardless of their E3 presentation.

BotW is playable on Wii U. But no one has that besides Gaffers.

It's definitely a MonHun AiruMura game that From is working on.

I much prefer the way Nintendo does reveals than something that comes out much much later.

Lol it's a Nintendo console why would you expect 3rd party games especially western ones

I actually hate this approach. Sure waiting for some games for about 2-3 years can be annoying but it is much better than constantly asking the question "I wonder when will they announce inset game name here" In the case of something like Metroid or F Zero they never do and all that waiting and anticipation is rendered pointless. I would much rather them come out and say its coming in 2018 and be done with it. Constantly wondering what they are working on is much more tiring after a while than them announcing games early.

I'll go ahead and make some predictions:
Super Mario Odyssey info, including DK villain. Obviously, the release date is November 17th
Fire Emblem Heroes makes its way to Switch, available today as a surpise release.
Splatoon 2 new fourth ranked mode revealed.
Arms first DLC character revealed, out by end of June.
A few new characters for Fire Emblem Warriors.
Nuntendo reveals they themselves are QAing Skyrim. Meaning it will actually be bug free like it should.
Xenonlade 2 comes out in December.
BOTW DLC1 comes out in August. DLC 2 delayed until 2018.
Announces Pokken Tournament DX will recieve paid dlc for even more fighters.
Mario + Rabbids in August.
Mario & Luigi 1 remake coming in September for 3DS.
Kirby online co-op game for 3DS in October.
New Super Metroid for 3DS coming in Q1 2018.
Diddy Kong Racing by Retro Q1 2018. (After Pokken was revealed, I now realise Nintendo gives no fucks with releasing two similar games close together.)
And finally Super Smash Bros. 5 is revealed with newcomers Inkling and a Persona character. (Atlus deserves a character and Persona like FF7 is their most popular.) Coming Holiday 2018.

And yes, I know they said no 3DS games, so don't bother replying Neoxon. So sick of your spam in every thread.

They tried that with the Wii U though, and it didn't work particularly well. It's of course nice to know that a lot of good games are coming, but that also means they have less games to announce later on, which becomes a problem of its own. It also clearly didn't lead to people rushing out to buy systems, quite the opposite, most people ended up waiting for a critical mass of games which never arrived.

I actually think their release and marketing strategy is one of the things Nintendo have done best this time around. Spacing the games out and doing focused marketing pushes for each one gives them room to breathe and attention which they otherwise might not have received.

The only reason I have to remind people is because people don't read the details.

That being said, I'm not even sure there would be enough time for all of that in 25 minutes.

Maturity, bitches.
These down to the minute predictions are some of the worst things I've seen in a Nintendo thread, especially when no one really knows how long it'll really be.

Why would you need to ask that question in the first place? Why would you need to know what any developer is working on? Why not play the games that's available now instead? Don't you have a backlog on any gaming system?

Or hang in this thread. Doesn't it feel good to not have to ask "I wonder if Nintendo Spotlight will have a duration?" :)

Those 25 minutes will probably make me regret my purchase. lol

At least I got a TON of indies to look forward to. (Axion Verge and Shantae come out soon plz?)

Actually, FWIW, this thread is very similar in tone to the pre-Nindie Direct thread in late February.

And Shantae is already out.

So like, what 3rd parties do people want ideally? Japan is already starting to warm up to it, but the West looks to not care as expected.

Everyone keeps saying "3rd parties pls" but I never see examples.

Konami: Castlevania, Winning Eleven.
Capcom: Dragon's Dogma, MvC, ports.
Take-Two: Borderlands, Bioshock, GTA?
Square: Secret of Mana, FF, any RPG.
Sega: Initial D, Bayonetta, Yakuza.
EA: Star Wars (since it's being held hostage.)
XSEED/ATLUS: EVERYTHING.

Length doesn't really matter.

For example, a company could have like an hour or two presentation but would be boring if they kept on talking about how many players played online and subbed to a premium service or how many consoles they sold etc.

If the full 30 mins is dedicated to announcing new games, then it'll be fine.

Yeah but they'll introduce a special edition of the new 2DS 😁

galaxy new 2ds

Yay

it really wont be

It will be arms and splatoon and pokken all over again

And everytime one of those pop up we will be looking at the clock saying "cmooon... Its almost over! Show something good! No more fucking arms*!"

*(Fucking arms sounded terrible)

Except Sony has promised minimal boring talk and more games. I'm inclined to believe them.

PES, a new Castlevania from Konami
A multiplatform game from capcom alongside MHXX localization
A multiplatform warrior from koei
Inazuma eleven and megaton musashi from l5
Code vein from Bandai alongside tales of Vesperia dx
A real from software game
KH3 from SE
Etrian oddissey 6 from atlus

I don't care about western games at least on switch

Didn't say anyone should be excited, just said it existed as of a few months ago. Think it came out in November according to wiki, so it's only half a year old.

OK but you can't blame people criticizing third party support not being ecstatic about an old port

Sony has a very different approach. Most of the games show up twice at an E3 event.
In this way they can fill a lot of time (with lengthy stage demos).
It works well for them, since it looks like they have a bigger software output than it really is.
Their last E3 event was excellent. But a big part of the shown games aren't out yet. So they can show it again.

ShockingAlberto's interview kinda demonstrated that the MvCI team doesn't give a flying fuck about the Switch. Star Wars is also likely off the table since EA doesn't seem to want to bother with porting the Frostbite Engine to the Switch (though I suppose that's kinda implied by "since it's being held hostage"). As for Rockstar, I wouldn't really expect anything beyond NBA 2K18 or the rumored LA Noire remaster for the time being (though to their credit, at least they aren't short-changing the Switch port of NBA, unlike EA with FIFA).

Only blame I placed was on you for making stuff up about what I said, or misremembering I guess if that's what it was. I always stated based on what I knew was in development, the 3rd party games weren't very exciting. Feel free to go back and check. Again everything I've "predicted" has turned out to be true.

I have nothing against you, really.
But don't know what does this have to do with a boring LA noir port ;p

If they cut out all the self-referential fluff (which I'll miss, but not what I'm really watching E3 for, y'know?), they could do a lot with 25 minutes.

And Nintendo can serve up another Spotlight at TGS or Gamescom, so they have a regular "E3 for 2nd half, TGS/Gamescom for 1st half of next year" rhythm. And before I hear "Nintendo hasn't ever done anything for those shows", well... they haven't done a 25-minute E3 presentation, either, so....

So like, what 3rd parties do people want ideally? Japan is already starting to warm up to it, but the West looks to not care as expected.

When it comes to Japanese 3rd-parties, I just want to see money where their mouths have been, because the output so far should be bigger and more detailed.

Capcom should have more than USFII and a MonHun port. Atlus can show the Persona 5 love while we wait for SMT. Arc System Works can actually show a game on it. Square Enix can show me something that isn't half-baked as 3 SNES games on a cart or an iffy port of Dragon Quest Heroes.

No more talk, time to deliver.

I wasn't specifically talking about Sony, because this could happen to any companies presentations, like Microsofts.
I think Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all had those moments in the past, like talking too much about things besides games.

Sony has a habit of talking about games years before they are released. Its easy to fill a show up for 2 hours or more if you are willing to dedicate time to things people wont see for 2-3 years.

Nintendo Operates on a We show you what will release soon philosophy
