I'm just ferrying our producer over to Twitch for an interview where we can share more detail, but just to be clear - we're a Metro game with some huge, open, non linear levels. But we're not one big open world. We think we have the best of both :)

Yeah, I am imagining bespoke designed large hub levels? Hence how Artyom gets on the train at the end to go some where else? Syberia perhaps? Taiga?`Another city? :D
edit: I am psyyched for this game

This sounds great.

And the hubs are connected by the railway right?

If a Mod would be kind enough to remove "open-world" from the title that'd be swell :)

Never really paid attention to this series before, but I was impressed by this showing. I'll have to watch some more gameplay before I make a decision on purchasing, but this has definitely captured my interest.

Go back and play the old ones. The PC, PS4 and XB1 versions are all fantastic

You can play Metro: Redux (Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light) on Steam, pick it up during a Steam sale. They are both good atmospheric shooters with a unique setting.

Open world ? Oooh Stalker 2 closest thing. Hopefully they can do it with no load times for immersions sake.

Game of the show so far.

Heres hoping the openish world doesn't ruin the game with ubisoft style nonsense. Like what happens with so many games turned openish world.

I am so hyped for this game. Made me lose all my objectivity and see the full MS press conference in a positive light! :)

This was a pleasant surprise. Played the Redux on PS4 and really enjoyed it. This looks like a HUGE improvement. Can't wait.

Can't friggin wait. Open non-linear levels are exactly what I wanted from this series, the more open surface levels in Last Light were some of my favorite parts of the game.

Are the books any good? I may read them first before playing the games. Can't pass up open-world exploration FPS stealth horror story-driven titles.

Looked absolutely excellent and probably the highlight of Microsoft's show besides Anthem. Am I required to play the other two to understand the story in this one?

I'm probably going to try and pick up Last Light on PS4 just to check out what the franchise is like.

Best wishes.

You should probably buy the whole Redux Bundle, LL is a direct sequel to 2033, so some stuff wont hit as hard if you haven't played the first one.

Massive Far Cry 2 vibes with the map & compass, weapon jamming -- although that whole escape sequence with the creatures in the tunnels played out like a cinematic.

I've got Last Light on PS4, how's it hold up? -- haven't played it in a long time, never played much of the first game, which one's better?
