So...whose hoping for the last story 2?

I want this but I've accepted it will never happen. Same with a sequel to Pandora's Tower. I'm just thankful Xenoblade became a franchise.

I'd take a remaster at this point to fix the frame rate issues. I still recommend the game even with those to people if they can find a copy. The game is that good. There are times when I enjoy it more then Xenoblade 1.

I just rewatched the april direct. Yeah, at the same pace (and Reggie did say this is fast paced) 25 minutes will be enough.

lol I just went back to watch it again a moment ago too

Yeah, that pace seems a-ok to me.

Not sure how to feel about the narration though. I mean, it honestly helps since they were all gameplay videos. But if its a reveal trailer like Xeno X, I hope it doesn't have the narration.

Yeah. I expect it to skip showings until it is a decent ways into production.

Want that to be sooner rather than later :p.

yeah me too i am ready to leave ps2 assets behind me since... along time!

I also hope we see something to project octopath too, i love the art direction in this game

At this point of E3 when all these sweet third party games are being announced that could easily run on Switch, I'm hoping a good portion of the Spotlight is just Nintendo saying "don't worry, it's coming here too!"

prepeare to be disappointed

So it seems like their E3 presence will be...

  1. Nintendo Spotlight @ E3 (25 Minutes, "Kickoff to all of our activity", Fast, To the point, Highlights number of "Key Games", Number of "Reveals" & "First Looks", "Mario Oddyssey will be a big part of it")
  2. Straight into Treehouse Live's First Hour, which will feature more reveals. ("Right from Sportlight right into Treehouse Live, and within the first hour of Treehouse Live we're going to be breaking more news")
  3. Which will lead into the rest of Treehouse, which will feature more gameplay, tournaments, etc.
Sounds much less pessimistic than we were led to believe originally. Seems like the April Direct style is confirmed, so that's good for sure.

Yeah. If Reggie was on point, it should be fine. Good for those who like the surprises.

I...havent really seen this attitude shared in a long time, i think everyone accepts that xenoblade is one of the main 1st party games right now.

Yikes.

As for the bolded, I dunno. Xenoblade Chronicles—as well as Fire Emblem—aren't exactly "Nintendo-like" titles, and they're still mistakenly labeled as third-party games from time to time.

Isn't the Skypunch the guy who posted like 10 threads complaining about Sawano in Xenoblade X
and being right about the OST
? I know he's banned, but to anyone who's thinking this... come on man, of course Nintendo fans are excited about Xenoblade in general, they just aren't THAT hyped because we only saw what was essentially pre alpha animu footage.

Yup. I enjoyed his last thread about fantasy games needing British voice acting and a bunch of replies about how cliche it was. Dude had a weird obsession with the game because he was from the UK and it had British voice-acting.

I absolutely adore XBX's soundtrack.

A Pandora's Tower re-release that fixes the endgame bugs (that almost made me rage quit) would be welcome. Would allow me to recommend it to people with good conscience.

Skypunch died as he lived: going on about Xenoblade. Seriously what a hill to die on.

He shouldn't have done that, little brat.

I still need to play through Terra Battle to reach the epilogue. Is stopped like halfway through that game a few years ago.

I always wondered if they could port make an HD port of the original and add the epilogue in as a playable section using the original engine. Make it like 3 hours long.

Probably don't expect that. Maybe next year you'll get a handful

its kinda weird, cause I guess the general public just thinks nintendo is mario/zelda/pokemon. aesthetically. But nintendo has always been way more than that. Dont know how they could fix it.

Isn't Sakaguchi supposed to put out a Terra Battle console game? Is that still a thing?

Wasn't that like some sort of quasi-stretch goal for Terra Battle getting a ton of downloads? I have no idea what's going on with that.

Xenoblade not being Nintendo-like is why it's so important it comes from Nintendo.

Exactly.

And it's frequently cited as a third-party game, so mission accomplished.

That is why they are needed. I may have broken skypunch but I see the value in the Xenoblade IP. Nintendo is basically trying to make it their Final Fantasy.

I have a challenge for Monolith Soft. In Xenoblade 3, create a storyline in which Fiora gets breast cancer. Imagine the drama of a vulnerable Fiora still persisting in her worldly adventures despite her illness. It needs fleshing out, no pun intended, but I guarantee the gaming world would be shocked, stunned, and moved at the effort to make her character more meaningful. We love Fiora, but it's about time the industry had a big shock for a change.

God damn I was just about to call skypunch getting banned before we see more Xenoblade 2. I have to live up my tag! Also if Mario Odyssey is anywhere near as amazing as I think it will be it will be my new avatar. I haven't changed this thing in like 5 years.

Let's just hope that whatever Mario Party they make for the Switch is more like the N64/GC ones and less like the Wii/Wii U ones

Thnking they might take the series in a different direction altogether, since Switch is a hybird system. Probably gonna come up with something that benefits handheld and docked play styles.

I don't know, even if it's rapid-fire with tons of announcements I feel like you wait all year for Nintendo's event and 25 minutes is a poor return. I'm all for a slim, quick show, but 25 minutes is more anorexic than slim.

As someone who works and can take 40 minutes to an hour off for an early lunch, I can watch the event but not the Treehouse stuff. So them pushing the focus back to that rather than the event is nothing but a negative to me. Tomorrow's a bank holiday, too - wish they'd do their show on a Monday.

All of that is without stating the obvious fear that it's 25 minutes because they have very little to show or are choosing to show very little. I still maintain that if they don't show early 2018 games that that's a mistake.

I had a better idea. I kick Fiora in the back of the legs...

People assumed as much and good to have some confirmation it should be similar to what they did in April. Tuesday should be a good day.

Perhaps a mod could add this to the opening post of the thread? Or Nbz if you're still around could you add some of this since it was said by Reggie when he was on Geoff Keighley show today?

You drag 1 unit (pushes and moves your other units) around the board to avoid hazards/attacks and attack (by pincering enemies) under a turn time limit (like puzzle and dragons). It's neat.

That would actually be fine. I just want to be able to screw over my friends again and ruin friendships once more alongside the fun minigames 😈

Getting back on track, yeah, I think what Nintendo are going for is using the Direct to show off the game trailers themselves briskly, and then go more in detail with actual gameplay and such during Treehouse. People always talk about gameplay demos dragging the pace during the actual E3 presentations, so I guess they're trying to keep it, but just move it around to keep people's attention spans happy. Having their cake and eat it too. Honestly though like I've said, if you cut out all the developer stories and skits from the 2014 and 2015 directs, they probably come down to around 30 minutes. 25 minutes is plenty if they're going bang-bang-bang game-game-game.

Someone did a breakdown of E3 2013 earlier and I think that's the best model to look at. Show off a bunch of games we already knew about, one last 2017 surprise, and then no more than 3 2018 games.
