Shadow of the Colossus Trailer PS4 (E3 2017)

That could be easily tested with PS2 emulation. I haven't tried it, but I'm curious enough to do it now.

I did some unscientific tests on PCSX2, with both the US and EU versions of the game, with Colossus #3 on hard mode, torso weakpoint. Wander seemed to flail more than normal in both. So maybe there's something to it. I don't have an actual PS2 to test the game with anymore though.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Ueda will just be kicking back with his feet up on a desk petting his Trico plushie and watching Blue Point work.

I wonder if they're still using the old layered shell rendering technique for short grass.

It might still be more suitable for a denser effect.

While the cut colossi seems rather improbable, Ueda said this about the PS3 Collection:

"There were some grander ideas, such as changing Shadow's ending or adding some of the colossi that got cut from the original, and honestly having features like that would've been attractive from a business perspective. If we put just a few extras in, though, gamers would naturally expect more than what we could provide. Instead of just putting in a few half-baked things, I thought it'd be better to stick with the original concept of staying faithful to the base work. If I get another chance in the future to do a remake, I might wind up changing quite a lot more."

I would find it amazing.

I've just played the HD remaster of this briefly on my sister's PS3, so I'm excited, IF they do something about the camera and controls that is.

These days you have more efficient methods for fur so no they are not using the layered method anymore

I think this scene showed the colossus hair from a variety of angles best, plus the bounce from Valus walking.

Confirmed true to PS2 version. No new content.

there's no way i would trust them, or even want them, to shoehorn cut content into this game
but!
in a separate bonus section, accessible from a menu? absolutely. that would be super rad, and still wouldn't change the game. which i 100% think should be left alone

Yes I am aware of this project, and don't get me wrong - it's fucking awesome and looks like the best remaster of RE4.

However, I'm referring to a remake with overhauled assets, lighting, and visual effects - not just textures only.

This SOTC trailer looks miles better than the PS2 version because of a new engine.

It's not only a texture re-work, they're improving assets, lighting and effects as well.

The trailer had this person crying hah. All the nostalgias

Ha, I saw the thumbnail for this when searching for Easy Allies' reactions lol. Yeah, truly a powerful moment although I do wish I didn't check that Sony press conference thread right before bed the night before. Because my heart starting doing really weird things (no joke) when I read a post mentioning a SotC rumor. I wonder what my reaction would have been if I wasn't anticipating it...

This is going to be fucking awesome. I've already played it twice on Playstation 2, borrowing it from a friend, once on PS3, and now for the remake.

Soooo gooood

Has there been any confirmation as to whether this'll be 1:1 content wise with the original, or is there any possibility of some of the cut content being inserted or what?

Apologies if I'm propagating misinformation. I had thought the remaster was based on the EU version grip controls, which is why they were so different. So was the theory that the more stable 30fps framerate was actually the issue -ie. the games physics was based around a framerate of 20-25fps and Wander's grips works less well when stabilized at 30fps? I recall someone in another thread making that speculation.

None of this sounds true. The PS2 version runs at an unlocked framerate. If your PC is powerful enough you can emulate the game at 60fps. And I mean true 60fps

To be honest i changed my mind. I was really against adding other Colossi, but if they made them available only after you finished the game in order to have the original experience intact, ot as a separate mode i would actually love it.

Whilst its true that the ps2 version runs at an unlocked framerate it never goes above 30fps in game. And from what I have read and experienced myself we are still a LONG way away from having processing power that can emulate the game at a locked 60fps.

Strange - completely independent from GAF, I have always read this as well. I just accepted it as common knowledge because I read it so often. I thought the grip balance was from the original PAL release of the game too.

Is this not true?

considering this is bluepoint and not Japan studio, its most likely a 1:1 conversion with just the graphical assets being updated in addition to modern post processing effects

Looks so good, I imagine ICO will be remade as well if SOTC does well....amirite?

Can we all be honest here, ICO is great but Shadow is just head and shoulders above it.

I don't think they need to remake ICO as much as they needed to remake Shadow.

The Last Guardian is basically ICO again.

Many changes and fixes were made to the PAL PS2 version, which the PS3 remaster was based on, but Wanda losing his footing more frequently while gripping a shaking colossus is unique to the PS3 remaster.

They're both great, they both need the treatment...I'd even ask Bluepoint to remaster TLG if I could, technically, they're so good...
