Nintendo of America says Metroid Prime 4 and "new Pokemon game" are 2018 titles

I'm curious what games we can expect from Nintendo next year. They have announced a lot of games though a few we have no idea when they coming. Yoshi, kirby, fire emblem, metroid, Pokemon. We also know that games like pikmin and animal crossing are on the horizon. Retro must be getting close to releasing a game and then there is smash bros as well.

I think 2018 might end up blowing away their lineup this year.

Highly, highly doubt it. They showed absolutely nothing of Pokemon Switch and the only thing they have for Prime 4 is a logo that's 75% copypasted from Prime 3's.

Why not? A year and a half after launch with Ultra reusing most assets. Seems like they have had some time

Making a lot of assumptions there. They're going from 240p to 720p on non-Pokemon assets. They're using an entirely different engine as well.

If Metroid Prime 4 is 2018...then that'll be their 'booth' game next year at E3.

I'm OK with waiting for 2019 for either but if this is happening in 2018 (and the quality expected from each of their pedigree) then I am thrilled.

Pokemon I can somewhat believe. The new metroid though? I doubt it. Especially considering they had absolutely nothing to show off. I mean the same can be said with Pokemon, but GF has a track record off pumping out games like crazy plus we have evidence that they've at least been recruiting for the new game since before it was revealed.

Holidays 2018 is over a year away.
Eh I don't see it but I guess. They had no problem showing a title for metriod and putting 2018 for Kirby and yoshi

I also don't think that game them enough time to work on a Pokémon built for switch but perhaps I'm thinking to big for the title

I believe Pokemon way more than I believe Metroid tbh

I wouldn't. Not with the anime's progression as it is.

There is no way in hell they're jumping to a new device in the middle of a Pokémon generation. That is not happening and people need to stop expecting that to happen.

Maybe it's a mistake? I just can't believe that Metroid is slated for 2018 when they had nothing to show. Pokemon is more believable, it makes sense they don't want to show the Switch game until Ultra Sun/Moon are out.

Holy shit if true

Another 2 GOTY candidates for Nintendo in 2018?

Pokemon, if they use the BOTW engine, my jaw will drop on the floor. It's got the perfect artistic style for Pokemon imo.

They announced Fire Emblem for 2018 with nothing to show.

Welp, we got the first trailer of ARMS, Splatoon 2 and Mario less than one year before release, this can be true. MEGATON, Next E3 is going to be Metroid theme and is going to be amazing. 2018

I wonder how many people who say " I don't believe this." also didn't believe Reggie when he said we will get Metroid related stuff this year.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

Bed tbelieve they had something to show, they just didn't want to show it

That is already a very impressive 2018 lineup. It's good that we can look forward to so many great games for the Switch next year. E3 makes me comfortable about me buying the Switch later this year.

Gen 4 Remake perhaps?

Maybe it's the kind of thing that could be interpreted different ways, but while he's definitely saying Metroid is planned for next year, the "a new Pokemon has been announced" sounds like a separate statement to me. I'll be really surprised if they cut Gen 7 off before 2019.

We *could* get another game set in Alola or even gen IV remakes next spring. Why does it have to be the 8th generation?

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
I'll be stunned if Metroid hits 2018. If they use Breath of the Wild's engine I could see it, but I'm not sure they will.

No way Metroid Prime is coming in 2018, it'll be the crown gem of 2019 without a doubt though. Pokemon 2018 is quite likely though.

Why technically? They only showed a title saying "Fire Emblem" and "2018" and that's it. The same thing as Metroid but with a year and not even something aking to the space zoom in to the S like Metroid had.

Because it doesn't fit how they do generations or the progression of the generation outside the Mythical Pokémon.

Generations tend to last three years, and Sun/Moon came out last year. It's not impossible, but it would be highly unusual.

Who says it has to be a new generation? It could be an HD remake for all we know.

Game Freak has said they've been working on Switch games for a long time now, at least dating back to last year if not much earlier. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Stars on Switch was actually in the works for a while just in case the sales of the Switch didn't take off like Nintendo had hoped.

Now, I don't think we should expect a brand new 1080p built-from-the-ground-up Switch Pokemon game in 2018 but something serviceable could easily be done.

There is no way Metroid is coming out next year, if that was true, we would have seen some trailer, or CG trailer, or whatever at this past E3. no way

So "now in development" means it releases next year? Another Japanese company could learn from this *cough*Square Enix*cough*.
