ARMS |OT| (’-‘)-------------

Hi I'm still very new to Arms, enjoying it a lot, but are there any in-game details/descriptions on each of the arms anywhere? Like I can see people on here raving about the poppers but I have no idea what they actually do.. Thanks in advance.

Legit destroyed my thumbs during GAF lobbies yesterday. Sad thing is when I get off work I'm gonna jump right back in, Ggs everyone.

If you go into the "Set Arms" menu and fiddle around, you can get descriptions to pop up (and see the element property icons). They're pretty brief, not that helpful though.

Just defeated Level 6 Hedlok after four rounds. I won the first, it won the second, and then we had a double KO during the third. (really wish I could have saved that 3rd round)

Time for Level 7 of GP! As with the rest of the levels, I'll be using my usual loadout with Twintelle.

Check out how much the change in Arm girth from Min Min powering up her dragon arm affects the hitbox size of Dragon:

silly AF if you actually pause to look at it hahaha

Minmin's also have the smallest arm girth out of all characters, the arms are really small, lol.

Which is why it's very important for a minmin player to learn how to not fall down and lose dragon arm special, and going aganist players with ice arms is dangerous because they can make you lose the dragon arm just by freezing you.

Whenever I play minmin, I make it a habit to stay grounded because getting hit in the air is an automatic falldown.

How do you access the new modes in the latest patch?

The update added arena which is a spectator mode, can be accessed locally in versus (need to double check) and online by going into friends and selecting arena

I finally managed to get to +4 in Party Mode and actually maintain it for a bit. Some notes:

-I somehow won a 3-for-all. My opponents just ignored me for some reason even though I only had 25% health. I then won a 1-on-1 fight without getting hit.
-Spring Man gets powered up in the pre-game screen because his health is already at 25%, so you see a close-up of each character and Spring Man is just glowing lol.
-Winning twice does not give you a +5 handicap (I don't even know what that would be), but losing after doing so will still have you remain at +4.
-You only get 4 extra coins for winning... wait, so that's what +2/+3/+4 are supposed to mean. O_O

So yeah, Party Mode is alright if you are pretty good at the game when it comes to racking up coins. Most of the players you fight against are pretty bad so it's easy pickings, really.

Yup, I had a great run yesterday, staying at +4 for quite sometime, and even winning 1vs1vs1vs. And I'm someone who struggles a LOT winning GP 5. Managed to rack 100 beautiful coins in no time.

People are bad at this game.

GP7 is easier than GP6 for some reason. At least it was for me. Ninjara GP6 gave me more trouble than anything in GP7.

Got through Helix, Ribbon Girl, Master Mummy, and Mechanica easily.
Spring Man is giving me some troubles, though. He dodges a lot, and his stage doesn't give me much room to escape his attacks.

Is there a timeline for expected content roll-out? I'm tempted by a purchase, but the offering is quite thin for the price at the moment.

All we know right now is that Max Brass will be added as a playable character some time in July.

In-game there are only brief descriptions, but I am deep into what I think is a fairly comprehensive guide/list of all Arms and will be posting it ASAP. I may even sneak it some work on it here at the office :X

Everyone listen to this man, his Min Min is world-class.

Any advise on properly using Helix?

Ducking by holding dash after someone throws a punch will usually dodge cause them to go over his head but if you stay too much their punches will aim down and hit you. if i jump in the air i always try and duck immediatly after landing cuz when you land that is often when people try and hit you.

The stretching by holding jump is good for pressuring people cuz his punches will stay charged while in that pose and you can weave his upper body around pretty fast for aiming but you are also pretty vulnerable too because you can't move. Stretching while snakeboarding is super fun and stretching just to dance left and right to taunt your opponent is OP.

His side dash in the air covers a lot of ground pretty fast so you can often dodge rush attack wit it.

I've only been playing a few days though so there are prolly some things im missing.

Rank 11 now. Starting to feel like I'll be among the big guns soon, but a few ranks left to climb. Special shoutouts to the rank 12 player that kept playing me despite losing most of the time.

I've started enjoying Cracker / Seekie loadout. The higher you get the more reliance on passive arms you get, and they have a hard time dealing with Seekie. So in the end they start moving more, which opens up for me to get some hits in with the Cracker. By keeping Seekie out most of the time you are bound to get one stun on the opponent, and I usually save my super for that: guaranteed 360 damage.

Still looking for a good 3rd arm, might try Hammer again, I know it is annoying to face at least.

A few more notes on Party Mode, this time about Hedlok:

-So there are a few differences between this Hedlok and his single-player version.

1) He controls a random character (and takes on their abilities) instead of it always being Max Brass.
2) He looks like he can control each arm independently instead of always throwing out three at once. He can hit anyone within a 180-degree angle in front of him, so flanking him is a necessity.
3) Hedlok at level 5 and above can no longer get knocked down outside of throws and Rush Attacks, even if you hit him with wind or fire punches. Level 4 can still get knocked down like that, though.
4) His ARMS can change after you select yours. Don't get fooled by what he initially has equipped!
5) And obviously, he has a lot more HP.

-So let's move onto strategies for how to deal with him!

1) Don't attack him from the front. Even if you have a heavy ARM that can stop his punches, it is too much of a risk. If he is focused on you, either outmaneuver him or block to let your teammates get behind him and land their own punches.
2) Fire and wind ARMS are great for Hedlok Lv. 4, but are useless for levels after that. Overall, the best attributes to use against Hedlok are electric and ice since they still do immobilize him (he's still free to attack, though). Don't use explosion ARMS since it is very easy for Hedlok to land glancing blows against you and blow them up.
3) If multiple people have Rush Attacks, just let your teammates go first and take turns using them. Don't waste a single one!
4) Speaking of which, if your teammates' Rush Attacks keep the opponent standing up until the final hit, throw out a ground grab just before their final attack to get some extra damage that does more than what their final attack would do. This is great in doubles, too!
5) If a health or Rush power-up comes into the battle, just go into the circle and block. The worst that Hedlok can do is grab, which can be interrupted by your teammates (if they know they can do that).

This is awesome!

I really like those Hedlok fights because it shows the engine has potential chops in like a "co-op action" way... but I didn't have any systemic approach to these fights, it was just headless chickens. Thanks for the tips!

I just picked up Arms a few days ago. I wasn't really feeling the game during the Global Test Punch, and kept getting my ass whupped online. I haven't played online yet, I'm still on Grand Prix, and the game has grown on me. I find that regular controls easier to control than motion controls. The problem with motion controls is that I can't block consistently. Everytime I do, I either throw punches or do the throw attack. Anyone else have this problem?

Stuck at rank 9 cause I don't match up with anyone other than this one spammer.

So I'm guessing the matchmaking is pretty regional.

I play only motion and have no problem, but many seems to have this problem. All I can tell you is to really telegraph the motion: don't move the arms forward at all, just make a cross with them. I can honestly say that after playing hundreds of matches, and guarding in every single one, I have never failed it. So I know it can be done, but only advice I can give is to exactly copy the movement from the first trailer, lol.

Everyone who plays with motion has this problem at the start. It doesn't take long to overcome with a bit of practice focusing on that specific skill, blocking when you want to block (and understanding the timing of mechanics in this game well enough to know when it lets you block and when it doesn't).

Fluctuating between Rank 7 and 8. Anyone have any good tips/layouts for Min Min. I have Ram Ram pretty much exclusively on the dragon arm and alternating between Popper and Revolver on the right arm.

What is he spamming and as what character?

Nope! Though as with all of the motion controls, it was tricky to get the hang of at first- now blocking is very natural for me on motion controls; it's one of the advantages over traditional in my opinion.

The key thing is that punches/throws are only ever input by moving the controllers forward. Without moving them forward, tilt the tops of the joycons inward toward each other to block. Just pop open a training Versus (infinite timer, stationary computer, infinite health, no items) to practice as long as you want.

No, it's not regional. If you play in the morning early in Eastern Time, you'll see a ton of japanese players.

Also, worst part of Rank 9 is rage quitters. They seem to have all been brickwalled into that rank because the rage quit so much. However, you don't get rank up if they dc during a match right before you beat them.

It has made me stop playing rank sadly, since it doesnt punish that behavior enough.

Lucky for us all, there is no 10 ;) GP ends at 7.

Have you done 1-3 already, and can you complete 3 easily? What character are you using?

Ha didn't realize that. I've beat the earlier levels, but i've found them mostly difficult aside from 1.

Currently stuck on Hedlock. Using Twintelle, i've been able to win a round in a match, but never the full match. The wins only came while using double Revolvers.

Edit: after the umpteenth time fighting Hedlok I won with the same config listed above.

A bit off-topic, but is anyone else seeing "first played 10 days ago" for ARMS in the profile screen? Shouldn't that have converteren to a playtime estimate already?

A Ninjara and he uses this explosive triple shot weapon. I beat him consistently though, it's just annoying playing always against the same dude. He keeps back and never commits till he gets his Rush ready.
Hate playing against people that go for a "Time out" win.

I agree, I've fought many people online that like to hang back and run away 🙄

I guess there is fun in that for them.

4th ever ranked mess was really laggy, ah damn guess ranked is going to be pretty bad with this huh :(
Hmmm. As far as noticeable lag, I've had barely any whatsoever since launch in ranked and my connection hasn't been the fastest, either. Tentatively speaking of course, I wouldn't say your experience was the norm.

Anyone here who has mastered Master Mummy, tell me if you have beaten 1 v 100 mode with him yet. I swear it's impossible. Hedlock with 6 charged Megatons, and no way to dodge around them, so blocking and a rush if you can squeeze on in there are the only options, then death. I can't beat this, it's the only thing left single player wise for me to complete. Any good strategies for this?

Seems like that was the lone exception, it was like I would throw the dude and 2 seconds later than the damage took place and then by the very end, the guy stood there with my arms going through his body and then seconds later the match ended with him defeated(He had very low health) LOL.

4-1 thus far, level 3. Lone loss was very close in a 3 round war that he smudged me barely both times. I do so good until the supers arrive, hate the supers. They are such an equalizer. I accidentally tap the left shoulder button on the pro controller and it prematurely activates the super -_-.

Try flanking him from the side with a Ram Ram or a Dragon.

Just got a comm. error from someone in like 7th ranked match after I did really well the 1st match LOL. Do you get points for that?

I played this the 2nd day this game launched that Saturday and didn't touch the game for over a week after that, really happy and surprised I am doing so well in ranked. I imagine as I go higher in rank that the comp. will only improve.

EDIT: Wow no points for that? Terrible.

The key to Spring Man is to always do a 1, delay, 2 punch on him. Throw the initial punch, he will go to the side and nail him with the second. Hydra ARM rocks his world.

Played split-screen multiplayer using a single joy-con, I think that my hands must be weird because it actually works really well! Hell, my brother whom I doubt really thought that he'd like ARMS was into it fairly quickly.

Finally finished all seven levels of the Grand Prix! It's kind of fascinating to think back about how much I struggled to get through Level 3/4 when the game first came out, and then today I was able to get through 6 and 7 without too much effort. Playing in the GAF lobbies and doing ranked matches really taught me a lot and helped me become a better player, and this is evidence of that.

but yeah, I'm pretty proud of myself for accomplishing this. I did it all with my usual Twintelle loadout (Seekie+ and Popper) and never switched to try to make things any easier. Not that there's anything wrong with using a more optimal set-up for certain characters; it was just kind of fun for me to try to figure out how to make my preferred set-up work in different situations!
