Started playing this, it's basically my first game of this kind excluding FEH, which was sorta different, so I feel a bit lost. Been a huge Fate fan for a good while though, so it's more lost in the sense that I'm unsure on what order I should tackle quests and if one needs to focus on a single servant rather than building a bunch of them early on etc. Anyone got some general tips for beginners?

Also, how does one acquire the thingies needed for Ascension? I didn't even reroll since on my 1st roll I ended up getting a 4* Tamamo Cat and a 5* Saber/Altria, so I figured I was happy enough with that for now. Been leveling Saber mainly, and using her in conjunction with Shielder and a Support, and so far it's been quite OK @ Fuyuki. But I'd like to Ascend her, so I wouldn't mind starting work on that farming now if it's possible/avaible.

If you continue to do the story you should get enough mats to ascend her once. If you want to ascend her again (2nd time) you will have to farm, farm and farm some nodes/dailies to get mats. Its very hard to ascend high rarity servants at the beginning. Its better to ascend once and focus on other servants while you are completing the story quests and waiting for events.

So do the story and occasional exp daily to level your servants. Tama cat is very good too. Don forget to level her to and replace Shielder with her.

Yes, I think we'll get at least that much quartz, plus some tickets.

We should get about 4(?) quartz and 1 ticket per week in login bonuses, plus another 2 quartz from the weekly master missions.

I imagine we'll also get some other sources of quartz throughout a month (event quests, handouts, etc).

You get it fairly quickly when moving through the story content (most areas plus each free quest gives you one as a final reward). Once you run out of that though your only source of free quartz will be from daily logins (enough for 2-3 summons a week) and completing the weekly challenges (which is only 2 quartz per week). If you want more summon materials a good way is to do the 30 (or 40 if you can manage it) AP quests that give EXP cards and exchange the EXP cards for mana prisms at the shop. Every 20 of those will get you one summon ticket, with a max of 5 per month (same as 15 quartz but you can't do 10x summons with them). From what I've heard some events toss out 3 star cards as rewards like candy, you can munch those into mana prisms for tickets too if you don't need them.

So if you log in every day and maximize your return on summon tickets you should be able to do about one 10x pull plus 5-10 additional pulls per month, I think.

It's maybe nostalgia, but I still think the original Fate S/N servants are the best designs.

Mash doesn't have multiple cards, you get her automatically and she ranks up her NP through the story.

Your very first pull can only get three and four star cards. It's a "fake" pull with some guarantees attached to it. All future pulls (meaning the one after the next stage for rerolling) will be real ones and can include five star cards.

I plan to spend nothing until October but man it'd be a kick in the nuts if I don't even get what I want then. There doesn't seem to be a 'failsafe' that kicks in if you spend an absurd amount with no 5* either.

I'm certainly not averse to spending money on games I like, but it's a pretty bleak value proposition based on my experience rerolling. And I think I was pretty lucky with those too, found two 5* in 13 rerolls and the latter had the 4* I wanted too.

It has consistently been one of the highest grossing games in Japan since it's launch, so the hardcore gacha on this game is working wonders. Type-Moon and Delight Works are making a mint from this game.

So one kind of annoying thing about Jeanne I guess is that all of these gold exp cards I have been getting have been for the more "common" classes like Caster Archer ect. So no bonus for her as Ruler and I don't have most of these other classes either. Should I just dump em on her anyway? She is like lvl 26. right now but I am not sure how efficient this is. Since there aren't too many Ruler types even in JP I assume just dump?

How do we know? Its very inconsistent and varies month by month. Depends how generous will be Anilpex USA with unexpected quartz. We don't know when events start and how fast new story stages will be added and etc, etc.

No we have start dash login bonuses and launch campaign quartz. Who knows what will be in the future. JP FGO give out quartz time to time.

There is also cumulative login bonus. Just login and on your 10th, 20th, etc day you will get quartz.

There are limited-time characters that have a rate-up and only available during a specific time, so it's best to save for those.

Personally, I'm hoarding everything until Saber Alter is released.

I don't understand it either.

I always look at the display in the bottom right corner before I hit the attack option, so I know how to buff before they attack. It'd be so nice if you could back out of the menu once you initiate it, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to. :/

Edit: Oh, didn't think of star distribution. So yeah, make sure to use the card preview first, I guess.

Oh, I don't disagree. And I thought of this a long time ago too. DW really doesn't make changes as they're more focused on content. I'm honestly surprised we ended up getting some of the things that we did. If you think this is baffling, there was shit that was just straight up intolerable back on release. Can you imagine rerolling with x1 battle speed instead of the x2 we got? lol.
