Gran Turismo Sport launches October 18 - trailer

Well, id love to see gsmeplay with weather, even if its not dynamic. No footage at all show gameplay with weather, and were 4 month from release.
4 months is a short period of time? Lol...they just said they'll be updating a lot more on the road to launch.

Haven't played a GT game since 4, but I've been watching some beta gameplay footage on YouTube and it looks really cool. Might have to cop.

Gran Turismo is the odd one out when it comes to vehicle damage. Been the case for near a decade actually.

GT5 had extensive procedural visual damage, which they should have kept improving on. There's still a chance they bring this back. The beta is very limited with many missing features, night races aren't even available although they're confirmed. Mechanical damage wasn't even in the beta until an update last week.

Hopefully the campaign is good. Was there a consensus on the quality of the MP beta?
It got much improved every month and by the the end, the bulk of the beta thread was heavily positive. As well as GTplanet which can be even more critical than GAF.

We are still not sure about campaign, how extensive damage is, weather details, how u earn cars in the final game, a bunch of stuff, but at the very least, GTS should be a good game.

Oh man, I didn't know you could damage the drivetrain. Must not have been running into stuff hard enough. It's extremely basic damage but the idea of body parts falling off the cars doesn't really fit the finesse style and presentation of GT. Not saying I wouldn't like to see it, but I understand their twisted logic.
Still salty I didn't get in this beta.
In the end all you've have missed is waaaaaay too much repetitive practice on 4-5 specific tracks using only a handful of cars that are competitive without further balance. I'm stupidly lucky I got in, but it's not like it's been a world-altering experience. It's made me optimistic about the retail product, though, and it's been fun to see bugs you personally reported get fixed in later patches.

Other than people going into that thread for the sake of shitting on GT games in general, impressions overall were good, yes, and got better over time.

"17 locations are provided with 28 different layouts."

http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gtsport/

So:

Nurburgring - 3 (GP, Nordschleife, 24h)
Brands Hatch - 2 (Grand Prix, Indy Circuit)
Willow Springs - 3 (Big Willow, Streets of Willow, Horse Thief Mile)
Suzuka - 2 (Full, East)
Interlagos - 1
Bathurst - 1
Northern Isle Speedway - 1
Blue Moon Bay - 1
Tokyo Expressway - 1?
Fisherman's Ranch - 1?
Dragon Trail Raceway - 1?
Sardegna Windmills - 1?
Lake Maggiore - 1?

There's 13 locations and at least 19 layouts there already.

The 4 remaining locations could be:

Red Bull Ring - 2 (Full, Short)
La Sarthe - 2 (Le Mans, Bugatti?)
Silverstone - 4 (Grand Prix, International, National, Stowe)
Spa-Francorchamps - 1

But if there's a new rally location then one of those 4 is not gonna make it.

Disappointing track list no matter what.

They previously showed a second route on Norther isle IIRC.
Seattle is presumably still meant to be coming as a surprise...

I felt like I was in the minority but I was really underwhelmed. As always, GT looks great in gifs in trailers but the actual gameplay visuals are really underwhelming - trackside in particular can look embarrassing at times, when you compare to the competition. Cars are sensational as expected and the UI is actually nice at least. Lighting is superb.

For me, it will really come down to the campaign and weather they can improve the visuals before release. I'm a series long GT fan but I'm so tired of the diminishing returns on the games visual front and the game as a complete package - it seems as a fan base we're always making excuses for polyphony, as opposed to just asking them to be accountable to a modern audience.

I'm sure the game will sell hot cakes though and 7 will have all the same issues :|

I'm probably in the minority but I liked the old cover-art more. Hopefully it'll have a clean, reversible cover

Anyway, can't wait!

Hope they have an extensive DLC plan and don't take 2 years to release one track.

This is the perfect game to use as a game as a service. Have a year 2, year 3 big update and sprinkle smaller updates throughout the yr.

Wow, finally a release date. The King is back and I'm ready. Now to decide if I want digital or one of those sweet ass steel cases.

And there is a new rally location in the trailer:

"Colorado Springs" probably?

That makes it 14 confirmed locations.

So if you had to choose the 3 remaining ones, which ones would you pick from this list:

Red Bull Ring
La Sarthe
Silverstone
Spa-Francorchamps
Laguna Seca
Seattle
Trial Mountain
Deep Forest
Grand Valley

Does anyone know if a Logitech G25 will work with this?
With an adapter yeah, GIMX or what's its name. I believe there's a thread about it

La Sarthe, Spa, and Laguna Seca for me. Enough original tracks

The big news here is that a Gran Turismo release date is announced only 3 months before the actual release.

Yoshida wasn't joking when he said Sony had decided to stop announcing date (even a release window) too soon, in order to be sure they would not have to delay it publicly. We already saw that with Knack 2 (less than 3 months between the release and the announcement of the release date) but this is way more symbolic with a Gran Turismo.

Which makes me think, even if God of War is planned for Feb/Mar, Sony will probably not give any hint before the PS Experience early december, for example.

I don't get the complaints about the Single player, this looks way more interesting. Old GT's were beyond stale, and the car counts were grossly inflated. This is what the series needed, a reboot of sorts.

You don't even know what you're defending about the single-player structure, because we have a limited sense of what it is. Throwing something as broad as the idea of large amounts of content under the bus makes this tragically obvious. Considering the game will almost definitely be adding content post-launch, and I can't imagine you criticizing the game for becoming "grossly inflated" in response, it's hard to take this as anything but fluff.

Wait until we have some time with the game, then decide if we like it compared to the old stuff.

For me, I've only ever played Single Player in racing games, and have no interest in MP. Dependant on SP content and depth, I will pick this up. GT has always been at the top for me.

I am just saying change was needed....I am not defending anything..... I never said large amount of content was inherently bad did I.

Thanks.

Anyone know if there's a lot of effort/cost involved in this? Really love GT but I'm not buying a new wheel or playing without one.

The needed adapter can be bought pre-made for €30: https://blog.gimx.fr/product/gimx-adapter/

Or it can be made for €10-€15 yourself, which I did using the guide on what to buy that is found on the GIMX site.

Note that it needs a laptop with the software running as intermediary in the connection between PS4 and your legacy wheel. You get full force feedback with this solution.

Good news. I was expecting 31st December.

Hoping support for the Fanatec CSL Elite is up to scratch so I can treat myself to a new wheel.

While it is truly ludicrous that it's taken this far in to the life of the PS4 for there to be a GT game, I am excited as fuck about this.

I miss my casually approachable but still sim-worthy racing game. Project Cars just felt a bit meh to me and the handling was pants with controller. For some reason GT always made you feel like you could be competitive on controller bit without having to dumb anything down. The presentation looks absolutely stellar as well.
