18 seemed way too close to Kuririn's level this episode. I think she's basically meant to be stuck at her Cell Saga power level.

I kinda feel they made 18 look a bit bad to prop Krillin this ep. My biggest problem with this ep.

This episode is just the like, 50th reminder since super started that they made power levels almost arbitrary. Her power level will be whatever the writers need it to be at the time, same as almost every other character.
I feel you but to me it's because they're kinda putting everyone that's not god tier around the same level.
There's no way Krilin got that much stronger to the point of being 1:1 with 18. And Vegeta one shot Frost after all, without blue.
So I can't see Frost being that much more powerful, even if he is, he should be within reach.
Which is weird because they showed that even after Krillin's training she was still stronger and she kicked away Goku's kame-holdingback-ha where Krillin was struggling with it
We also seen her fight a pride troopet
They can't seem to decide what her level is besides maybe stronger than baldie

I'm honestly surprised that we've gone 4 episodes without them touching that. I mean, we know it's going to happen, they wouldn't have had those two poachers in the sub if it wasn't.

I really wanna see where the Freeza+Frost plot goes.
Man, they have sooooo much stuff to write/show in this tournament. They really have everything in their hands to make an awesome saga when it's all said and done, filled with side-stories/plots, cool battles, twists and turns... let's hope they don't screw it up

I think it was just there to justify why 17 didn't join sooner and to go with his comment " I guess I should be worried for the poachers then".
I don't see what the point would be to have an episode like that, they would still need to animate all of it, and they have no issues making small scale episode like today. If it's a pacing issue, I don't really see them ruining a 10 episodes streak of intense moments with this shit. It doesn't flow at all IMO. Unless a huge break happens ( new rules / location etc.. ).

They can perhaps use that when/if we reach the end of the saga and the usual slice of life episodes happen. Kind of like a flashblack thingy "oh Goten and Trunks did this during the tournament".
Otherwise yeah, not seeing them interrupting the tournament for that at all.

I think an episode about kids on an island protecting animals from poachers when the arc is about universes literally getting wiped out because an all-powerful childlike entity wants to have some fun seems somewhat redundant.
It might happen when the tournament has concluded as filler before the next arc though.

It was a good scene but it needs a payoff in the form of an actual History of Trunks style beatdown. At least just one little bro-op skirmish together. They can't just leave us hanging.

Most importantly, Bota Magetta! I was worried when the tournament was starting that they'd get sweeped out of the way early to focus on the new blood, but instead they've overcome their weaknesses.
Magetta's probably not going to be the top tier competitor he should be, but at least someone at Toei acknowledges that that he's fucking awesome.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make him into a good ZZT-based avatar.
Krillin was good; his dirty fighting is a nice throwback to how he used to fight. The Agahnim attack with 18 was cool too. I feel like most of the things his setup was leading too haven't happened, though. He didn't face up against someone on Super Saiyan God level, his new Taiyouken did nothing, only the thing about teamwork with 18.
Maybe it's support for something else happening in the tournament when all of that happens?

That was the dude from U10 anyway. They don't even have someone near Goku or Vegeta-tier. Hell, I don't even know if they'd beat U9.

I'm glad Krillin and 18 had a good moment. But they sold him short on the way he got knocked out. Would have preferred it if they had reworked the scene slightly, and they'd both been able to do that combo as shown, but then Frost took 18 by surprise and knocked her out, and as she was about to go out of bounds Krillin catches her and throws her back on stage, but because of his own momentum has to eliminate himself.
Super Saiyan Vegeta whose base form one-shotted Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks.

This is currently my biggest gripe with the Japanese sub.
Rewatched the Goku vs Gohan episode recently and I felt so bad for Nozawa's voice-box.
Why are you using Vegeta to show Frost is weak when base form Vegeta bodied Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks?
We have no clue how strong that Pride Trooper was. And 18 kicked Goku's hands, not the Kamehameha.

Never in Dragon Ball have more characters been more relevant than right now.

I gotta say, I know its brought up all the time but that scene is super suspect to me.
If Cabba or Frost gets their ass kicked by someone less than Gotenks, I say we retire it as a water mark.
That depends heavily on how this arc goes down. Since even Frieza is showing distaste in how the Zenos can happily erase an entire universe, I would be really surprised if the arc ends in a way that will allow him to keep doing so.
The tone of this tournament has been pretty light, there's been enough joking around that it would feel odd to see some universes permanently erased imo. For now I'm gonna stick with the prediction that the arc will end by fixing the Zeno and/or Grand Priest problem.
